Asda while clearly an improvement on Netto was rather disappointing when I went in there earlier. Only three tills with one long queue right down the store, no bakery (which I was genuinely shocked about) and a cramped kiosk and self-service checkout area. On the other hand, excellent customer service from the staff who even helped self service customers pack to speed up the queues and plenty of ?1 products.

Would Wood Vale require cross-borough agreement to put it in a 20mph zone?

Iceland are cheap but are restricted by their range which is considerably less than all the other supermarkets. Morrisons will still be the dominant supermarket in Peckham, although Asda could make Tesco Express reduce their prices as the competition increases down that end of the Lane.

Netto closed last weekend and will be replaced by Asda's new 'Supermarket' brand on October 4th. This leaves Aldi with the budget market on Bellenden Road. http://storelocator.asda.com/#!/store/peckham

So if Iceland goes, should we get rid of Favourite Fried Chicken for being out of character? Or Londis and the other convenience stores as they don't sell trendy produce? May I suggest to the OP that she moves to Beckenham which may be more along the type of shops she can spend her cash at instead.

He'll be 64 by the time of the next election. Unless the local Labour association deselect him or he decides to retire, I'd say he's got another term in him. Tessa currently has more of Lambeth than Southwark in her current seat, so would be more of a benefit for her Lambeth voters to stay with the new Brixton constituency. As for the Peckham Rye ward voters who want to stay with Harriet, the new constituency completely covers the border with Lewisham. One MP will ensure that cross border issues will be better with only one MP covering both sides. It also ensures that Underhill Road, Dustans Road and Upland Road have the same MP instead of two depending on which part of the street you're in. Peckham Rye also covers a tiny part of SE23 which is also shared with College (Tessa) and Lewisham West & Penge (Jim Dowd). This will for the first time mean one MP covers the whole of Forest Hill.

The Norwood side is being hived off as part of a new Brixton seat which Tessa may become the new MP of, although she could be fighting for the seat with the MP of the Streatham seat which is being merged with Tooting. Harriet will continue to play a part in SE22 politics as South Camberwell ward will still be part of the Peckham and Camberwell constituency. For most of us in ED and Peckham Rye, we could be welcoming the incumbent Labour MP for Lewisham West & Penge Jim Dowd as our representative in Parliament from 2015.

Phone snatched from me on No.12 bus
Bic Basher replied to msamykey's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's not much consolation for the person who had their iPhone stolen last week, but the 12 is reverting back to double decker operation from November 5th, which may stop undesirables boarding the bus. -
I've found a flaw with the service. While waiting for a bus at the Ondine Road stop at Dog Kennel Hill, the phone told me a 176 and a 484 would arrive in 4 mins. 2 mins later a 40, 484 and a 176 only going to Sydenham arrived, none of which showed on the phone.

You don't need a smartphone to use this service. I use a cheap as chips Nokia X2 with the built in browser and it works a treat.

I'd feel much more safer if I could use the ticket office at all times, instead of the ticket machines on the main road at East Dulwich. You can't beat asking the booking clerk at ED where as you may make a mistake booking a ticket to somewhere further afield. Also there is the option of booking a ticket online before you leave the station, which you can pick up the tickets from the machine, but what if it breaks? For those of us at the other end of LL/Forest Hill Road. Honor Oak Park and Forest Hill ticket offices are not proposed for closure.

A great site. Tip is if you don't know the bus stop code, type in the bus route, then it asks you which direction you're heading and then choose the bus stop you're waiting at. I used it at the Underhill Road/Melford Road 363/P13 stop on Saturday and worked to time.

Jo's probably the easiest celeb to spot in ED. Spotted her on numerous occasions on the bus. Also Corrie actress Kate Ford, who was in the papers today for her OCD.

No issues today, however I have had break up of picture on Freeview mainly on ITV1 yesterday evening. Crystal Palace transmitter will have intermittent work up until digital switchover next year.

If you can hold on until December 2012, the train service from Peckham Rye/Denmark Hill to Clapham High Street will increase to 4 trains per hour once London Overground take over from Southern.

When I went past, they were clearly Sky and BBC News hacks alongside the paps. A surreal moment seeing them this morning!

Virgin Media broadband not working

I get faster speeds on my 3 dongle. -
London Tonight are reporting the driver of the 468 bus had a heart attack at the wheel.

Virgin Media broadband not working
Bic Basher replied to Heart108's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I tried to get Virgin Media a couple of years ago, the engineer couldn't get to the box which is in a Southwark Council owned cabinet. Various calls to VM and Southwark got me nowhere, so I ended up using a 3G dongle from Three! -
I volunteer for two libraries in a Central London borough where unlike Southwark, we have self-service returns and discharges and plenty of current stock of books, DVD's and CD's. No staff were made redundant while introducing the automated system, however I feel that Southwark library staff could be better utilised with other tasks in the library (based on my visits to Dulwich), while keeping a minimum counter presence.

East of the Goose Green roundabout is in Zone 3 and if I recall ED is categorised as suburban with regards to planning?
