  1. My mum had used Sogim's when they were still in what is now the Leyland DIY shop and the service was hit and miss, but wouldn't use it again. She uses Sadlers opposite Dulwich Library instead. Vale Pharmacy IMHO is the best of the lot down that end of LL.
  2. I went in there just after 5pm and it was reasonably busy with customers, but was able to walk straight to a self-service till and pay. I like the fact it's open until 9pm so I can grab some food as there's more food than the Poundland's in Camberwell and Peckham.
  3. That's the idea. The micromobility apps let you see where they've been parked and then another customer hires it. They can also detect how much battery is left so they can send a van to either collect the bike or change the battery.
  4. Gutted about Hisars, as long as I've lived in ED for the last 40 years, the Kebab place has been a staple of the area despite the gentrification. I remember going in there as a kid for a kebab as there wasn't a kebab place down the other end of LL.
  5. I used it last week to buy a mouse for my PC as my expensive one broke, only £4! I've also purchased frozen jacket potatoes, but it hasn't stopped me from shopping in M&S and the Co-op.
  6. There is also pavement works outside The Grove as well.
  7. I saw a Lime bike parked on the pedestrian crossing part of the junction of LL and Wood Vale this afternoon. I hope the rider was fined for such bad parking. St Francis Park (the park next to Sainsbury's) has also had bikes dumped on the grass. Lime no longer allows bikes to park in there, nor Human Forest who have a Green Bay on the corner of Quorn Road and DKH.
  8. That’s great to hear. Does anyone have a tel no or email address for them. 020 8693 5842.
  9. It was still open on Sunday afternoon when I went past.
  10. How hard is it for some people to understand the basics of road safety is that we ALL share the road, whether we're car, van, truck, cycle or pedestrian users. Motor vehicle users have to understand that cycle users can use the road and that cycle lanes are useful, while cyclists need to understand that they don't have an automatic right to restrict cars from using shared roads. There are bad drivers on two and four wheels.
  11. While Southwark Council is allowing e-Scooters to clutter pavements, Paris held a referendum where 90% of voters decided to scrap rental e-scooters. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-65154854
  12. If they that great they will have no problems This is quite a naïve / idealistic view of contemporary capitalism imo. Chains can afford to drop prices short term, put independents under, and then raise them again, or use loss leaders or BOGOFF offers to entice shoppers. All of these tactics may lead to success, without necessarily translating into better overall value or service. Big marketing budgets (and subsequent brand recognition) often means people will favour places like Poundland regardless of how 'good' they actually are. The same arguments were levelled at Sainsbury's Local when they opened by the Library, yet the independents are still there.
  13. Poundland's website still doesn't have the opening hours, but Google suggests the following. Mon-Sat: 8am-9pm. Sunday: 11am-5pm.
  14. Walk in the door, turn right and go straight down. It's at the Pound Bakery shelf.
  15. I popped in there today as well. Some decent deals including Tetley One Cup tea bags (72) for £1 as well as the infamous batteries. In all honesty, I don't think Farmers has anything to worry about when it comes to getting cleaning products, but the food products are reasonably priced. In fact, I spent £1 more for jacket potatoes in the Co-op which were also in Poundland Local. They also have a Pound Bakery section, but the bread was already sold out, only leaving a few cakes such as jam doughnuts.
  16. DKH Sainsbury's Lloyds Pharmacy closes on Friday 31st March.
  17. There's also the launderette inside Peckham Morrisons. https://www.24laundromat.com/prices
  18. I went past on the bus on Sunday and there were already empty shelves. Even ABC1s like a good bargain.
  19. To be fair, Poundland is now charging the same price on some food products as Sainsbury's etc, but I'm not going to sneer at the first C2DE store to open on LL since Iceland was replaced with M&S. Personally I've found M&S on some products are the same or cheaper than Sainsbury's. Loose bananas are considerably cheaper at the Foodhall. Milk is the same price as Sainsbury's as well.
  20. I'd like to hope Wash & Dry can stay open. I tend to use it when Jo's working there and is still well used.
  21. Post has largely been ok for the last couple of weeks or so.
  22. Yes, so if you're in a Green Bay, which are areas that have large areas of pavements or an existing bay, such as the Barry Road/Underhill Road Scooter Bay, the rider is charged 50p rather than £2 to park there. I have no idea of whether this is part of Southwark's grand plan, but I know from experience that the Lime bikes are heavily in demand here. I can park a Lime bike and it's gone sometimes minutes after parking outside my flat. HumanForest I believe are one of the micromobility companies that have permission from the council to leave bikes within the borough, the fact they're allowed to leave bikes on the Lordship Lane Estate shows they also have a relationship with the Housing dept. (I think there's another one on the Kingswood Estate too) Surprisingly there isn't a Green Bay to serve the LL shopping area, but there is one on the corner of DKH and Quorn Road to serve East Dulwich Station and Sainsbury's along with the residential area green bays scattered across SE21 and SE22.
  23. HumanForest have added more Green Bays where riders can park for 50p rather than £2. New bays include the corner of Landells Road and Lordship Lane, Wood Vale with the junction of Lordship Lane, Peckham Rye with the junction of St Aidan's Road, Barry Road/Underhill Road junction which was already being used by Lime/Dott scooters, Dulwich Common/Alleyn Park, Hunts Slip Road, Dulwich Common opposite the Dulwich College Sports Club and the Lordship Lane Estate opposite McLeod Court. HumanForest riders will also be able to use their bikes in the London Borough of Lewisham shortly.
  24. Wrong thread.
  25. Where I finally agree with malumbu on something is cycling standards. The amount of jumping lights at junctions is ridiculous along with the arrogance that they don't have to comply with the Highway Code. I'll wait at the Dulwich Library crossroads and everytime I wait at the box junction for bikes, you'll see other cyclists jumping red lights while I'm left with petrol vehicles including mopeds and scooters.
