  1. Hi, I am messaging from Tommy's, the pregnancy health charity. We are working on a new pregnancy health message/campaign that is directly related to the third trimester, and is based on new research. We need women on Monday to give us feedback. We are offering ?30 per person thank you for your time and travel. It's at our office on Cannon Street (train to London Bridge station, walk across the bridge). If anyone thinks they can make it please email me on [email protected]. Thank you! Deirdre
  2. Hi, We're looking for a part time graphic designer at Tommy's baby charity (www.tommys.org)to produce designs for print and digital. It's a six month fixed term contract (with potential to go permanent) and the hours are negotiable. Salary is competitive. The full JD is attached. We are looking for a minimum of 4 years design experience and applicants will be asked to do a test before interview. Please email [email protected] with a CV and salary expectations in the first instance. Many thanks! Deirdre
  3. This is what they left me with. After fobbing me off for three months ('yes the fitter will come to see', 'hasn't the fitter called?' etc etc etc)they're now refusing entirely to come to deal with it because they say it must have been an underlying problem with the stairs. Avoid Love carpet - they look cheaper but you might have to do it twice...
  4. Updated with a pdf version of the jd. Hope this one opens OK.
  5. Tommy's is looking for a part time content editor. Might be suitable for a mum (or dad!) The job description is attached. Thanks, Deirdre
  6. My son is 4.1. He hasn't been in nappies for about six months or more. We don't do lifting because I don't like disturbing him so he goes to bed at around 8.30-9 and wakes up at 7-8. He wets the bed maybe one night out of 5. We have a few plastic sheets and we've just gotten used to washing them and his other sheets and covers a lot more. I wash so much anyway that it doesn't seem like that big of a deal. The advantage of this is that I'll be able to tell when he's staying dry. The disadvantage is lots of washing... When they get full control is individual to the child I think. Some crack it very early, some are later...
  7. I signed this. Who needs a bag of leaflets. My child benefit was sorted out by the registrar when I registered the birth - there and then.
  8. Summer of food happening right now near you! http://www.theskintfoodie.com/1/post/2013/07/peckhams-summer-of-food-love.html
  9. Not using Fujiyama anymore since they messed up two deliveries. The first time they came out to correct it, the second time they couldn't be bothered (delivery was missing a Fuji platter starter). They said it wasn't worth their while and I could have it free next time I ordered... and that's after me paying a ?3 delivery charge.
  10. Hi, I'm looking for a person with some or all of the following skills for a part-time post beginning in August: writing/editorial, website, graphic design. The hours can be flexible and parent-friendly but it will be office-based rather than home. The job is with Tommy's, a national charity based off Cannon Street. Anyone interested should send me a PM in the first instance outlining their experience in the area/areas above. Thanks, Deirdre

  12. We were all set for moving house to be closer to Ivydale or Fairlawn as our son is three at the moment. Then we did some research into John Donne (which is our nearest school) and discovered that it has some of the best results in Southwark! I stalked some parents at 3.30 one day and talked to three mums who were delighted with it. They said it was a teaching school for phonics (which means it is so good that it teaches other schools). As I said above I have only visited the nursery, which was lovely, but everything we have heard about John Donne (and house prices in the areas we were looking at!) made us decide not to move after all.
  13. I am actually gutted not to have gotten into John Donne nursery and am worried now that I won't get into the school when the time comes in 2014. Can I ask what road you are on? I've only visited the nursery, which I loved. The school has a great reputation though, as well as an outstanding ofsted!
  14. Me too with Tony and A&M. Carpets (briefly) look like new when he's done..
  15. I went to visit the John Donne nursery last week. It's absolutely fantastic! Really hoping to get a place there in Sept for my 3-yr-old. If anyone else is looking to start in Sept (or for school year 2014) pm me for playdates..
  16. I'm also interested!
  17. Hiya, I should be able to make it today as well...
  18. Hello, I've been lurking here for a while and have posted already but not been able to come to any of the meet-ups... Can I ask anyone who already has a child whether they are planning to leave them in part time childcare or how they plan to manage a toddler plus a newborn and lack of sleep into the bargain? I'm very nervous about this. My husband says to leave the toddler in childcare as much as possible but what are other people doing? dx
  19. Did any of you see that Vitamin D/Rickets thing on the news? I haven't been taking it (didn't for No 1) but I might invest...
  20. Hiya, I'm due 21 June and already have a boy who'll be 2 in April. Working full time right now and slightly terrified about the thought of minding two children from June! Qeetah and Sydneyswan I'll be looking for people who are happy to meet up with toddlers in tow
  21. Anyone know a good childminder in Nunhead/Peckham? I'm looking for fulltime care in January
  22. Hiya, once my baby's head is more stable (he's 6 weeks old - anyone know when i can start running with him?) i'd love to join. Do they sleep during runs? Can i aim for a run during a nap time?
