Ex offenders selling on the door steps - SE22
CPR Dave replied to Caesi01's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sorry to hear that KK. No one deserves that kind of abuse in their own home. I hope the police and the council can put a stop to this and give these people the help they need. -
Garden Waste Fees - 50% increase
CPR Dave replied to Penguin68's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The evidence is all over east dulwich! also If you look on east dulwich Road there are two signs up at the park complaining that the road has not been swept for four months. That's the middle of summer when there were no leaves. -
Do you think there'll be another one of these meetings in January to celebrate all the amazing achievements this year and to plan for the year ahead? I see some Bah Humbug has put signs up around Goose Green itself complaining that the streets haven't been swept for four months. They should be invited to the next one of these meetings to find out how much effort our councilors are putting in.

Garden Waste Fees - 50% increase
CPR Dave replied to Penguin68's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
That's because Southwark council don't collect your garden waste. £40 in 2022 to £80 next year. Think I'll just get a bigger green bin amd putthe garden waste in there. Leaves from council trees that they don't bother sweeping will get dumped in the middle of their road. -
750,000 new people (net) arrived in the country this year. We need to build homes to house these people. The school and the railway line are already overlooked by a timber yard. A timber yard that has massive lorries going up and down a road to it that is already there. Get on and build I say. Or not. Fewer homes means higher prices for homeowners like me.

I've read it thanks and added the bit you left out - traffic down inside LTNs, traffic up on boundary roads.
-
So traffic down inside the LTN, traffic up on the boundary roads. Something we all knew already and something that was entirely foreseeable. These are some of the words Earl left out where he put that ellipsis in his quote... "Specifically, this study found substantial reductions in motor traffic within scheme areas, while across boundary roads there was very little aggregate change (+0.7% mean average compared to background trends). "

I genuinely don't understand how people are still surprised that the Labour Party want to tax and spend. It's all they've ever done.

Chipotle East Dulwich now open
CPR Dave replied to JamesPardy55's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
What sort of things do they sell there? -
It looks like the Dulwich Society did object alongside a whole host of nimby boomers who are scared witless by progress and change. Also looks like there were no issues from Southwark in the preapplciation consultation so it seems it's come down entirely to the public objections.

What do you love about ED and Southwark?
CPR Dave replied to heartblock's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The people who live here, and the people who work here in our shops and cafes and pubs and restaurants. There are lots of very genuine caring people everywhere here. -
Heh at the pavements as the first item. This must be a troll thread. The pavements are literally covered in dog shit, they get cleaned only once every three months, there is litter and detritus all over them, the have pot holes and cracked slabs and whole streets made of tarmac which sticks to your shoes in summer and cracks with frozen water in winter and mostly has tree roots growing through. The ones that are lucky enough to still have a public bin on them (barely any these days) are also covered in rubbish strewn all over by the foxes rats and pigeons that the council don't seem to do much about. The pavements are a hazard. If they are really one of the first positives for the council then we are truly screwed.

KOKUM Indian restaurant & bar
CPR Dave replied to Simeron Lily Patel's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
That review from Andy Hayler is exceptional. All he does is travel the world reviewing the very best restaurants. He's one of the finest restaurant critics there is and his praise is not easily won. To receive such an excellent review from him is wonderful. The team at Kokum must be very pleased with that and it is well deserved. -
Do you have a link to that scrutiny session video please? I can't see it on the usual YouTube channel. Many thanks.

Every day I trust them less and less...
-
What Ford say is utterly irrelevant tbh. They haven't made a car in the UK for over 20 years and never will make one here again. In fact they sacked 20% of their work force here earlier this year and have plans to sack twice as many again in the next two years. They make their cars in Turkeyi and Spain so who cares what they say.

I'm so sorry to hear this. It all sounds grossly unfair. The local Councillors used to post on here to help with problems like this but none of them bother any more. You could try contacting them through here https://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgMemberIndex.aspx?bcr=1 Also, I would post this in the main forum that gets more views and less unhelpful anti-car gibberish from people who live outside London.

Muggings by Charter School pupils on East Dulwich Grove
CPR Dave replied to Adam's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I hope the "nearby school" gets on top of this very quickly. The local schools here have good reputations and it would be a shame if that were affected by something like this. We need good schools here for the future because soon we won't be allowed out by the council for more than 15 minutes. -
Updates to list of Forum Boards
CPR Dave replied to Administrator's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Well, I guess they won in the end. They aren't even from East Dulwich. -
It was either naive or stupid for One Dulwich to believe this meeting would be held in good faith. They should have just gone straight over the head of this guy. He comes across to me as a disingenuous timewaster.
