Both cases have money going to large companies and not local traders.
  2. Couldn't this whole 35 page long single thread be given the honour of being a separate section of the forum so the different topics can be followed more easily. Given the popularity it might make it easier to follow the different ideas going on...for example, there you are reading about opinions of bins with interest when a new post about Barry road and radar traps pops up etc etc etc.and it gets harder and harder to find responses to particular points of interest. Surely a year on it's time to make it easier to read!!! Admin?????

  4. The stadium style street lighting in my street certainly didn't deter the low life who broke in through the front windows while I was away a few weeks ago. However, I am interested in the notion that I can have light deflected as like others it is never dark in my bedroom now. Do I just contact my own councillor as I am in Lane Ward?
  5. Thanks for the update......I think my problem is that there are so few gates that if you do mistime or have a problem trying to judge the distance to actually hover your card then the sheer mass of people push you on and you can't just wait for it to reset!!! 6. Hi - this was raised a little while ago but I would just like some clarification as it's been causing me a problem - the oyster readers at Peckham rye never work for my card.On them is a sign telling us to hover the card rather than lay it on the machine, which was the advice from the previous related query - so the question is why do we have to use these readers differently and is this why i can never get out of Peckham Rye without causing a mass pileup but can get through every other barrier in London!
  7. Dyslexia assessment really needs to be done by a trained assessor - school sencos are teachers who take on the role of coordinating SEN, the clue being in the title "Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator" - it doesn't mean they are specialists in every condition any child might present with and qualified to do every type of screening! The Rose review of Dyslexia last year recommended that there should be a larger number of specialist trained dyslexia teachers and training is currently being provided for teachers to support this role in schools. If your school has access to an assessor they may well be able to do it in house but you may find you will have to go beyond the school.
  8. says refurb on the door and pub like tables being taken inside today.
  9. Don't want residents parking but do want the person who parks up several cars in my street with for sale signs and leaves them there for MONTHS AT A TIME to park them outside their own property instead of mine. Local councillor assures me that council officials have spoken to person re this and I'm fairly certain it's not legal to sell cars like this (in multiples, I mean) but they're still there. I don't need to park outside my house every day but once in a while to wash/hoover it out isn't too much to ask, surely!
  10. Actually waiting in Treliske Hospital can be very irritating - if it's full of english emmets getting in the way with their up country accents and foreign ways. Onen hag ol.
  11. Down from Cancun you find Tulum, pretty much most of the yucatan is interesting and oaxaca if travelling more inland.
  12. Compromised can also mean that you have used your card in a place where there has been a victim of fraud - you may not be but you might if you see what I mean. My card was deleted by the bank a while back because I'ld used it in a machine that had been compromised. Didn't affect me but it's a precaution. Doesn't necessarily mean someone has your details.
  13. It's a shame it's died a death - originally was a good little hang out for cheap but decent evening grub -then when it tarted up it got too flash for it's own good and that's when it started to go. And it did have some of the most grumpy service. I did witness the previous owner once shouting customers out of the place for having the temerity to complain about the service and cold food!!!! Hoopers is a nice bar just up the road!
  14. About time that the residents around bellenden Rd got the saturday lie in for a while for a while - we've had the early bin sweep for ages now. Time to share. Actually the bin men are as quiet as they can be and do try to make as little noise as a huge dump truck can make.
  15. Local estate agent guff through the door recently telling us that their client was very keen to live in "Bellenden Village"!!! Must be better than the Dulwich Borders I bought into 13 years ago.
  16. Yup - I realised which one the other day. Seems to be a tailoring shop of some description because apart from the name there is no other real clue except for a small laminated clip art picture showing a tailor sewing. Window display very arty though. Could do with a greengrocer however. Arty shops don't reduce trips to sainsburys. How long for the "I can make your photos into a bas relief wood carving shop then"??
  17. If you mean Fenton Walsh the clothes shop it's been there for well over a year (or possibly longer!) Clearly labelled. If you mean the Melange, just opened, a chocolatiere selling wonderfully flavoured chocolate then that's the one.(It was also at the goose green fair). If you meant the carpet shop that opened for 3 weeks then I'm afraid that's gone as we all predicted.!!!!
