Half of Choumert Road has been non parking since october beacuse of the gas works but I have still been able to park in the road and usually within visual distance of my house, even right outside. It's been adjacent to the CPZ for as long as I can recall and I really don't find it a problem. It's typical London parking. I can't see why Danby would be any different really.

Another good GP leaving Melbourne Grove Practice?
catma replied to Rach's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
So which is better - DMC Chadwick Road, Crystal palace road or Sternhall LAne. I'm not close enough to the Nunhead surgery (checked!) Anyone else in SE15/Bellenden rd Area got a good GP?? Cos I want out of melbourne Grove. I did join the PPG but even that is not very effective I feel. -

Oh not again! just as they get someone worthwhile they're off again. This might be the final straw. -
He's hilarious - I've heard him and the carriage was in stitches!!

To the man who just parked on my street...
catma replied to Otto's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I always thought my road was tricky for parking, being right on the edge of a CPZ (entrance point visible from the front window...)and the first road outside it for the station, but reading all the posts on here I'm beginning to love the fact that I can always get at least a space somewhere in the street. Day time recycling of spaces happens but then I'm away with the car and by the evening all the lovely day trippers go home elsewhere and leave spaces again. Even with the gas works taking out half the road I've still parked in it every day.....bonus tonight when it was right outside the house!!! SE15 where the parking is easy/er!!(Until the man with his FOR SALE signs strikes again). -

Not sure what's more annoying though - that kind of lazy parking which disrupts the pattern of spaces, the "I'm leaving my car with a for sale sign outside your house for months" parking or the "I'm creating my own self defined CPZ with dustbins so you can't park at all" attitude. It's carmageddon out there. -
I noticed today that the fireworks in Battersea Park are charged at ?10 on the gate for 10 yrs and over, with a still whopping ?6 in advance. At least the Southwark ones are free wherever they are in the borough.

My brown bin in Choumert Road still unemptied. We are 2 separate properties but look like one house so I guess they looked in my neighbours empty box and decided that was it. Mine was in the only space it can go behind the green bin!! Emailed, but no reply to date.

Scotia Gas Networks Gas pipe plans
catma replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks - I was going to write to them re the same but just hadn't found the time. I am equally cross with the level of disruption. Not to mention the Kango drills this morning. -

Thanks. What with Gas works, commuting parkers and the guy who leaves his for sale cars in the street for months on end it's certainly getting harder to park in Choumert Rd. -
Agreed - the blue would suit my kitchen perfectly. Maybe some inventive work with sticky backed plastic is called for.

I emailed the council and this is the reply: The Brown garden waste bag system will not be effected Thank You Environment Services [email protected] 020 7525 2000 So I'm assuming they mean that and we can still get bags!

Thanks - I hope I don't fall foul of a post code lottery here.
-
Thanks, I will. And then my councillors to find out why I can't have one if there aren't any for Lane!!!
-
So would anyone know how I find out if this is available for Lane ward? This makes it seem like all residents are equal but some are more equal than others - crime certainly isn't only apparent in SE22!!(Having been burgled last August)
-
Why free to some but at a cost to others in the same borough........?

Houses being checked if vacant or not on Crawthew Grove today?
catma replied to MDP's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If you have a door bell that works on a wireless basis then sometimes if someone has the same code as your own it rings your bell - has happened to me before, the bell kept going but no one there. Of course it could be miscreants checking too! -
Loving the idea that the clock is restored and back. (and i'm not even of the older generation) Dulwich library was being talked about in Cornwall this week:a talk on Celebrating the Centenary of the life of John Passmore Edwards, the Cornish Philanthropist, attended by mum (who I suppose is one of the older generation).

Local celebrity (our doctor from Dulwich Medical Center)
catma replied to Rach's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Will it make up for the rest of Melbourne Grove - I hope so. -
Thanks - looks like I'm on the non dulwich side of the road then!!! I'll stick to Bellenden Village in that case.:))

Confused - Choumert Road se15 seems to be on the ED area border (maybe those estate agents were right??)

I've been dreading his retirement as he is the only doctor I will generally see there. Agree with all re the stresses of the surgery and the wonderfulness of Dr J. I've had to go there a few times recently and haven't been able to see him as it was more of an urgent appointment needed and he was not working - ended up with 2 completely different locum drs so no continuity of care there at all. I'll be off to find a new surgery then.......

My next door neighbour got burgled 0n 17th January
catma replied to louisemurray's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I do because it's sensible! However I can see from the new police site that the Lane ward has above average rates of crime with 71 burglaries in Dec. So maybe being more aware of home security rather than trusting to luck is a sensible stance to take. -

The posters in Bellendon Road shop windows from the police indicating a spate (is that word acceptable???????;-)) of car break ins might indicate that there is something to be alert to. As does the sense that an area is being targeted. (I too was broken into during the summer - ripped open front sash, but only ancient, worthless work laptop taken. There may not be a quantifiable/verifiable increase but the location seems to be currently in vogue for the robbing fraternity. If this makes people more conscious of their window/door security then all to the common good I say. Wish I had taken more notice!! -
....which is really annoying those of us who live there and are prevented from getting home by traffic jams!!
