Looks like we'll be doing 20 mph everywhere http://www.southwark.gov.uk/news/article/1422/southwark_takes_final_steps_towards_becoming_a_20mph_borough

Been there loads and have never got either fleas or headlice - it's great at the price and close to home so I love it. I use their regular email update to know what's on and never had a problem.

New Dulwich school on Bellenden Rd, GIVEN PERMISSION
catma replied to James Barber's topic in The Family Room Discussion
For residents of the area will there be a consultation process on any impact this may have on the local environment? Do we get any say re increased road traffic, parking in quite a tight traffic spot etc. which would come with a 2 form entry school? Also what is the current use of the building? Do the community groups already there (I'm sure there are some?)get support to relocate? -
o2 have sold their broadband to Sky - this does not bode well for me!!

This was a useful read. http://bumblebeeconservation.org/images/uploads/Bee_Craft_May_2013,_Bombus_hypnorum.pdf
-
I've got them (tree bees - bombus hypnorum) in my compost bin too - they are fine, just leave them and they'll all go by the end of summer when the young queens go off to hibernate and the old queen dies.

http://prism.talis.com/southwark/ Use your card number to log in and then you can manage your acccount very easily from there. On the issue of self service machines in libraries, I would recommend getting and keeping receipts when you return books, as I had to make several trips to peckham to get fines that kept accruing on a book I knew had been taken back removed. I now tend to check online to make sure they have actually been removed from my account after returning them.

I'd probably phone 999/get 999 phoned rather than go to a police station near or otherwise! Wireless door bells can do this...the leaflet I had with mine gave the reason, which I now cannot recall but the solution was to reset the bell.

Does that mean that after the 8th March all work on our Gas/water/cable/anything else that lies under the streets of Bellenden/Choumert et al will cease for a very long time?? I do hope so.
-
well personally I wish the shopkeepers hadn't got it postponed and maybe it would all be done and dusted in one burst of pain instead of 2. Was there any wider discussion with residents in the affected streets about delaying it, I didn't see or read anything from anyone about that. What difference would doing it in Dec/Jan make to doing it now in Feb/March?? Cx
-
It's equally irritating for the driving residents of Choumert Road who now have the street exit onto Bellenden blocked by queueing traffic. At least the water works came with a warning through the door and a sense of how long the roads would be closed for - this just seemed to pop up over night. Having been through a summer of road works and disruption, I really thought they'd finished but no such luck. Maybe the holes should be given a semi permanent covering so they can just lift the lid next time they want to replace utility piping. Bah!
-
You could get the P13 or 12 and avoid parking. There's a CPZ all around the lane/station area. Roads around the CPZ are very hard to park in most days, as I know from living in one!
-
And Bellenden Road/Choumert road make it into the picture too!! Thanks.

Is there a minor injuries unit anywhere

Blimey!! That's a sobering thought! -
Is there a minor injuries unit anywhere
catma replied to catma's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks all for the information - I went to the Lister walk in after all, very quickly seen and a nurse has now dressed and cleaned the offending knee...my worry was infection as it was starting to feel very hot and sore, usually not such a wuss but wanted to get advice to avoid further drama! It was the Waldron at new cross which used to be a minor injuries unit but that is now apparently a walk in clinic like Lister. Friends have used the Beckenham one and rate it, but driving is a bit tricky with a really useless knee joint! Thanks again! -
I fell over and gashed my knee quite badly yesterday...still sore and I would like to get the wound checked, but it's not really big enough to warrant time at A+E. Apart from the Lister walk in clinic, do we have a minor injuries walk in centre or similar nearby...the NHS choices website is useless. Thanks!

Thanks - tried the AV not TV and no joy. But will try again with new scart - can always do with a scart lead or two around!

Thanks all - it's also my freeview tuner and dvd/hard drive recorder so looks like I'll just have to get it to a repair shop!
-
Yup - please! I'd love to have another clue! So far I've: reset to factory settings changed scart lead (new lead and swopped the ends around) checked all settings umpteen times tried every VCR tape I can find All to no avail...

Copy of email sent by hoopers: Hi everybody! Hoopers will be reopening next Friday 2nd November at 6pm after taking a short break. Our new opening hours will be Fridays from 6pm to 12 midnight, Saturdays from 12.30pm to midnight, and Sundays from 1pm to around 6.30pm (unless, like this coming week, we have a Comedy Night), when we will close at 11pm. We have taken this step because it has not been proved viable to open all week. We understand that many people are having to make hard choices on when and where they socialise. We hope therefore that the local community will make an effort to support the venue, and the local entertainment that we bring at no cost apart from buying a drink. So we are saying Use it or Lose it!! We plan to have Live Music on most weekends, on one evening. Our first gig is Friday 9th November at 8pm, when we have Dan Maitland, local guitarist and past performer at Hoopers. He will be playing some of his own compositions, as well as some well-known standards. We would like suggestions for future gigs. Essentially they must have local support. So get your email in to us!
