  1. I too agree with checkmeout. I also visited recently and left feeling very depressed. I am definitely not an over precious mother either but I would not want to send my son there. I am sure that the staff are great and that the activities, the care given etc is good, if that's what other peoples experience is, but the place looks like it needs a very deep clean. I know kids make a mess, but I just couldn't shake the feeling that I wouldn't want my toddler crawling around in there, it did seem dirty and very unloved. The upstairs room was very uninspiring too and I'd be upset to imagine my baby spending a long time in there. One other small thing - the kids upstairs were having their snack of 'cut up fruit' and they all had a couple of bits of apple on a plate. It didn't look very exciting, I'd have been happier to have seen a few different colours on the plates. It's bad enough if you have to leave your small child in any nursery for eight hours a day or so - there is nothing at all wrong with wanting it to be somewhere that looks a bit more like it gets a thorough clean every night.
  2. ...a spot of cup/plate painting at All Fired Up..withe tea and cake? Your friend will be a good help if she has no kids of her own.
  3. Hi Sue, thanks for taking this on - happy to help though if you need it so let me know. Tania...yes please do join us!! Look forward to meeting you all. my email is [email protected] penny. x

  5. All done and was totally fine. Nothing to worry about whatsoever. He looked the lady straight in the eye, never flinched, screamed, cried - Nothing and has been totally fine since. I was warned it could become a pussy, blistery type thing, yes. Glad it's all done and there was no fuss! Thanks everyone.
  6. hi all...really sorry i wasn't able to make it after all. Hope to see you soon though. x Not free Friday but am around next Tues all being well!
  7. 3 is okay by me too...just can't do before 1.30pm that's all. x
  8. Ahh that's reassuring. Thank you...I had heard it was a real nasty experience, but perhaps they all react differently. He was quite good with his last lot of jabs so hopefully he'll take it in his stride.
  9. Hi all.....have to take my 3 and a half month old for the BCG tomorrow. Was in two minds about it but the OH is really keen. Is it a nasty one? Will it really upset him? I'm sure there was a thread about it a while back but can't seem to find it. Just wondering what experiences others had?
  10. If it was a young black man, why can the OP not say so?? Sorry for your scare xone. Hope you're okay.
  11. Just wanted to commiserate and say really do get it sorted if poss. I am sure this will not be the case for you, but I ended up with quite a bad sleep disorder a few years back because of a partner who snored terribly. It became a massive issue. I started wearing foam ear plugs and still use them now (even though my husband only snores lightly, if at all.)Have you tried that? Even if it doesn't block out the snoring totally, it should help to dampen it down and usually the more bedded in the plugs get, the less you hear. I know you need to hear the little one, so might not be an option, but I can usually hear my baby when using mine, I think mum intuition plays a part. Good luck.
  12. thanks Fushcia....will check 'em out.
  13. Hi...I know there have been similar threads many times and I've been searching but can't quite find the answers I'm looking for, so forgive a new thread. What group/groups could I take my two and a half month to? Maybe something music or singing based? He's a big ten week old and is very alert and I feel like he needs a bit more stimulation! Anyone got any ideas? Thank you in advance....
  14. ...seriously though, it's crap that you lost your stuff. Sorry for you about that.
  15. i'm more intrigued about why they were left there, if they weren't for the bin, for charity, or you weren't off on a trip (which your son would have probably known.)....bagged up the other half's stuff in temper? ; )
  16. oh lovely pics....my husband proposed to me on a trip to Broadstairs so loved seeing those pics. Thank you.
  17. hi Paula...it's not too far at all...do you know the tesco on the right down past gooose green? if you walk past it then turn right at the lights you'll find the gardens cafe a few hundred yards up on the right, on the corner of the street called the gardens. I'll pm you my number in case you get lost - would be nice to see you. Penny. x
  18. hiya... i'm up for meeting today at the gardens and defo for a walk around the park. Maybe we could do that first then head for a cuppa after? penny x
  19. Amazing! I am streaming tears....xx
  20. i was with the lanes and did not get the continuity of care at all...someimes that system jut does not work. I wasn't as impressed with them as I was hoping to be. My advice about them is make sure you're very clear about anything you do/don't want in labour and write it in your notes. Many people have great things to say about them though, i think i was just unlucky.
  21. I would say the forum is certainly a very good place to start.I have a six week old boy so would be really interested..can you put up a reminder post for April 9 nearer the time?
