Hi...after all your kind words I wanted to let you know that I had my scan today and all is well with our little one. It was a little dramatic and there were panicked tears from me because for a long while there was no baby on the screen and the two ladies I had carrying out proceedings were repeatedly asking me the same questions, in what I thought, in my sensitive state, were slightly concerned voices. They kept asking if I was sure I'd had no bleeding and was sure about my due date. It just felt like the couldn't find my baby so I burst into tears and asked if all was okay? I also think I said 'is there a baby?!' to which they said yes and were suddenly very apologetic for upsetting me. They were extremely lovely really, I was just anxious to see the baby obviously and they were struggling to find him/her. But our baby is there and is doing well! Phew. Thanks again for all your kind words and good luck to all the mums to be on the EDF. Hope to meet some of you at some point with babies due around the same time.

I would second the advice on magic blackout blinds. They are brill!

Plump and firm like a Thomas Hardy milkmaid. That's an oyster apparently.

I saw this. It made me cringe. I liked her before this because she seemed rather down to earth. I was a huge Roald Dahl fan and the idea that Sophie in the BFG was based on her made her seem ace. This programme, where she bleats on about 'decadence' and prepares dinner party spreads requiring about a grands worth of grub means she irritates me big time, now. I wouldn't mind so much if she was still Rubenesque and was saying 'ooh look at all this delicious food...I LOVE it'! -
No...i do appreciate knowing all of the 'ins and outs'. I actually do feel far more prepared for the scan after reading the forum and everyone else's experiences. I don't want to know the sex of the baby so I will alert them to that immediately - sorry you had your surprise ruined prdarling. When i told my partner he said he'd heard a similar story at work and it was top of his list of things to say when we get in there. Despite still having niggling worries about the scan my new concern is that I have now turned into a horrible psycho nutter and have been a nightmare to be around for the last couple of days! My fella is probably packing his bags right now!

yep it's a on Weds the 14th....I am trying to keep calm and have had a couple of symptoms return which has helped! So stupid isn't it?! But I will let you all know next week.....Thank you all!

Yeah....getting a serious 'bird' means you get somewhat distracted from the business of chasing all the other birds, doing wild ridiculous drunken things and just generally being carefree. There's always a sloppy, loved up couple mooching around campus in the first year and they are usually just weird and annoying. Having said all that...if you fall in love, you fall in love! Either way you learn something.

One of my best mates is a scouse bird Keef! So, erm.....yeah.
-
I agree totally with Keef about the bank account. Don't get into the habit of skipping lectures because you just end up not be able to be bothered to go to any at all. Depending on what kind of area the campus is in - keep the windows shut. Get involved in as much socially as possible, even if it's not really your thing. (Like fancy dress....never been a fan but it's all anyone seems to want to do when there's a party at Uni.) You can make some of the best mates you'll ever have whilst at Uni. Try not to go and fall in love.....at least until towards the end.

Thanks all...i have calmed down considerably. I know I am going to drive my poor man mad for the next week.....but yep...will hopefully have a gleaming house and maybe loads of cakes, which he can shut me up with every couple of hours! I never thought i'd be such a worrier. Sigh.....

Hello all...sorry to resurrect an old thread. Just been reading this and though i am feeling massively reassured but thought I would post as you are all so knowledgeable and kind. I have my 12 week scan a week tomorrow and am really worrying about it. I am quite sure everyone does and many of you reading this will be rolling your eyes...but I don't feel all that pregnant (it's my first as I've said on another thread) and I'm scared I'll get there and something will be wrong. I'm halfway through week 12. I don't feel sick anymore, my boobs are only very slightly sore (but did hurt A LOT for weeks). I've put on a bit of weight around my middle and have had the odd twinge and ache today. But all in all I just don't feel as if I am pregnant. I know I am probably being neurotic.....does pregnancy do this to you?? I just thought i'd see if this all sounds familiar and normal?

We spent a good couple of hours there. It was lovely. I loved watching the dancing....yes, there was line dancing but there was also the fabulous girls from the Irish dancing school...plus Irish style folk music afterwards (I think the band were called Celtic Crush?...Could be wrong.) Anyway, what I loved was the sense of community and the fact that everyone was having fun. It was great to see everyone joining in. Watching young and old dancing in the sunshine....happy days!

Orange mobile reception in SE22: Problems??

No probs.... I have also disabled 3G and things seem a lot better. -
Please can anyone recommend an antenatal class in ED
Sally81 replied to KattyKit's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi KittyKat.....my baby is due at the end of Jan so not so far away from you. I am also looking into antenatal and am looking/hoping to meet people who are pregnant and due around the same time as I don't know any mums nearby! There is a discussion elsewhere in the family room about NCT vs NHS antenatal....I am assuming you won't do the Kings one if you're not in the area? I'm not sure I can justify the cost of the NCT courses but if you want to meet mums to be in the area PM me for coffee sometime if you fancy it as it seems our babies are due very near to each other. Welcome To East Dulwich! -
Mango is the only fruit I really don't like. I don't like the texture or the taste.

Orange mobile reception in SE22: Problems??
Sally81 replied to ratty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Ok..just got off the phone to Orange. Ratty, did they tell you they are not reporting any problems?? I have just been told there are TEN masts down affecting se15, se22 and surrounding areas and this is all due to upgrades and work going on because of Orange's merge with T Mobile. It doesn't sound like all of these masts are expected to be up and running again until at least July 17....but the operator wasn't certain. She basically said there is nothing much that can be done and the report will be logged. I am so annoyed because I pretty much have no phone when out and about now at the moment. We'll all be expected to pay our line rental as normal though I'm sure (although when I asked about this she said some of it may be credited back when they tot up the mins used over the dodgy period - but we'll see.) -

This is driving me nuts!! It has only started for me yesterday. This morning no signal again until I got on the train to LB and it came back. As soon I got home again at 2ish today it went again! It has just come back for a min...now searching again. About to call Orange. Grrrr. -
Orange mobile reception in SE22: Problems??
Sally81 replied to ratty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes. My signal totally disappeared tonight for a while. I had 'no service' for about an hour from 7.30pm ish. I have an iphone but no upgrade stuff going on. All has been ok since though....hope yours is now! -
Hi. Again..thanks for all the replies. As far as I am aware being registered at DMC does mean automatic registration with the lanes. I did nothing extra to be registered with them, but was told I was lucky to be a patient there already as many pregnant women register at DMC in order to receive care from the lanes. As I said, I had already received my scan date for Kings and further to my first post I have now heard from the team there and am booked in for my first appointment.
-
Thank you all for replying. My mind is a little bit at rest now, though i am sorry for your experience Fuschia. I have received my scan date, so that's fine and I suppose i will just have to wait to hear from the midwives now....I might call them next week to jig them along. Thanks again everyone....you've really helped.
-
Hello all...I don't know if I am posting in the right section for this but just wondered if anyone had any advice. I am ten weeks pregnant with my first baby. I am registered at the DMC and still haven't seen a midwife and am very anxious. I do realise that most pregnant ladies get anxious - first time or not and I'm not trying to be a worry ar*e or anything. It's just that a midwife did call me two weeks ago, i assume to book me in, but i missed her call. I called back and was told they were busy (which i fully understand and appreciate) and have heard nothing since. As I'm heading into week 11 I am full of questions and very anxious to have them answered. I have no idea about local services, antenatal etc or just things in general I should be doing! Anyway, i know the midwives at the dmc must be incredibly busy and this is certainly not a criticism. I just wondered if any other mums could let me know how long they waited to see one. Many thanks!

brilliant! thanks.

Hello...I urgently need to get some documents photo copied. Does anyone know where I can go locally? I tried the stationers by the EDT but it's closed now... Can anyone help?? Cheers.
-
I have seen him a lot lately. He was out near Nero around 10pm one night last week and i saw a man approach him to ask if he was okay or if needed anything. The man in the wheelchair looked terrified to have been approached and shook his head and moved off. I saw him again this morning near the station. He had carrier bags on his chair filled with rubbish which I think he takes out of the bins. He seems happy enough, strangely, although of course I have no idea.

Did you give something up to try for a baby?

Hello all.... I'm a feature writer for a national newspaper and am looking for three ladies to be featured in a spread I'm writing. We'd like to do a positive, uplifting piece about, for instance, a woman who gave up a stressful city job in order to try to conceive, someone who abandoned a strict diet/exercise regime to put on weight and get pregnant and someone who gave up their party lifestyle to have a baby. I'm also open to other suggestions about what was 'given up' if you, or someone you know has a slightly different story? The ladies must have given up their 'thing' to GET pregnant - not BECAUSE they were pregnant. It would be a very straight forward, nice re-telling of the person's story and involve about 30 mins interview time. You/they would also get professional shots done of mum and baby/kids. Can pay expenses though there isn't likely to be any - in most cases I can do a phone interview and the photographer will be sent to the home address. Really hope there are some doting mums with fun, uplifting tales to tell of their quest to get pregnant, who will get in touch! Pm me if so. Many thanks. Penny.
