Power couples - How do you make it work?
Sally81 replied to Sally81's topic in The Family Room Discussion
No Dulwichmum...nothing to do with Emma Thompson at all, I'm afraid. As I mentioned in an earlier post....we have been working with a sporting couple who do it. They aren't a celebrity sporty couple either. -
Power couples - How do you make it work?

Hi all...thank you for all your messages. Let me just clear this post up! It was a posting that rather meant I was looking for a needle in a massive haystack because, yes, as those of you who have pointed out correctly said - we were looking for a couple who use no help...no nanny, no nursery etc. Crazy, right?! We already have a sports couple, who are very high achievers but juggle their son between them. They are clearly more able to do this because they do not work conventional, 9-5 hours. They do work hard, training constantly etc, but still.... I am sure there are some couples somewhere, with very successful careers, who don't work normal hours who can share the childcare. A friend, of mine for example, is a chef in a very high profile restaurant and is able to be at home for a lot of hours during the day. So, whilst many of you thought my suggestion was nuts, understandably, it can be done sometimes. just very rarely. I probably rushed my original post, so didn't make it very clear. Cheers. -

To be honest I don't think there can be such a thing either - which is why I'd be interested to hear if there is! But have just been asked to find.......you never know. -
Hello... I'm looking to write a feature on a high flying couple who somehow juggle the childcare between them without relying on nannies or outside help. Often in families, one career takes a back seat to the other and we're interested in talking to a couple whose careers are equally important and finding out about who steps down when the child is ill, during the holidays or other emergencies. If this sounds like your family and you're willing to be photographed and featured in a newspaper get in touch. Cheers! Penny.

Hello all.... So, when I'm not being neurotic about my first pregnancy and posting on here with all my worries I'm busy being a feature writer for a national paper. I work for the female section of a newspaper and write across a whole range of subjects. We always write positive stories and love celebrating women who have achieved great things, often in what can seem like impossible circumstances. I have posted for case studies on the forum before and had some great responses. At the moment I am looking for inspiring, moving, exceptional real life stories. We can give plugs for charities, or businesses etc if they are part of the story. If you, or someone you know would like to share your/their story with me I would love to hear from you. Please pm me on here in the first instance. We genuinely treat stories with great sensitivity and I always have positive feedback from my case studies and their families and loved ones if I have featured them. I'm also happy to send you examples of my work if you would like an idea of the way we do things. Many thanks for reading and I hope to hear from you. Penny. x

Went to Broadstairs for the first time on Saturday...it was lovely! We had a fab day. There's quite a bit to do for the little ones too.....it also encourages romance ladies! My man dropped down on one knee on Stone Bay beach and asked me to marry him. A very memorable day indeed.

Pregnant woman smoking down Lordship lane!
Sally81 replied to Ligaturiosity's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Wow. Have just read most of this thread and I'm sorry Ligaturiosity, but I agree your behaviour was worse than the woman smoking and believe it was actually rather childish. I am pregnant and have stopped smoking. It is extremely difficult. Many people who have never smoked will scoff at that, but it's true. I haven't smoked during my pregnancy so far but who knows what will happen to lead me to have a weak moment. I say this, because two years ago I received a desperate call from a good friend, who was at the time pregnant. She had just had the terrible news that her father had died whilst holidaying abroad. To cut a long story short, at her house later that day she asked me if I would judge her if she smoked. Of course I didn't. And she did. Who knows what that pregnant woman on LL is/was going through that day. There could have been a very good reason why she had felt the need to smoke. -
Oh,taper, what a laugh you've just given me.

Ladies, any recommendations on where to buy decent maternity swimming costumes? I'd like to start swimming and also have something for the beach when I go away in September. I'll be five months pregnant and no idea how big I'll be....so is it possible to buy something that will grow with me?
