  1. NO. I knew someone would say that. Journalists have lives too you know and contrary to rumour, some of us are actually really nice...so yep, someone does actually want to marry me!! Jeez...I'll never be able to post here again!
  2. I am pondering my 'big day' and frankly i just feel like grabbing a couple of witnesses and getting married without any fuss. Love my man to bits and vice versa, can't be doing with the hassle. I just can't please 'em all, it seems. Just wondering if anyone has any advice? Did you have a big fussy wedding and regret it, or vice versa?

  4. Sounds like it could be a great love story guys.....keep me posted ;-)
  5. Sue, have you even read the OP? Clearly, I gave 'being attacked' as an example. Another boring, irrelevant comment. Why have you even bothered to respond? I don't need an answer to that by the way, just perhaps ask yourself the question and then move on.
  6. Actually...there has been a lot of coverage lately about how people are turning to renting a spare room out in times of financial trouble. We are a features section simply looking for stories, uplifting or not so, of those who have rented a room out and had some sort of experience through doing so. Really, what is wrong with you lot? I have met some truly inspirational people through this forum who have shared stories of joy and also pain with me, that will no doubt have helped someone, somewhere in similar situations and have been very thankful to hear from those forumites. Why do people have to post negative comments on threads that are of no interest to them? There is plenty of other 'shite' on here for you to fill your empty life with if you need to. I posted a simple, polite thread asking people to get in touch should they so want to. I won't post on here again for case studies, which is a shame, but I'm tired of the 'thread bashers.' It's so boring.
  7. Of course I will, should anyone wish to PM me to chat, as I said. I didn't ask anyone to divulge any sensitive information to me, before I tell them who and what the feature is for, nor would I. The "photographed and identified" part refers to possibly appearing in the newspaper, further down the line. I'm not asking you to identify yourself to me now. Thank you for your helpful post and possibly putting off someone who may have a valuable story to share.
  8. Hi, I'm a staff journalist on a national paper. I'm looking for females who might have a story to tell about a lodger in their home. Did you rent a room out and fall in love with your lodger? Did you have a bad experience with a lodger? Did they leave you in debt or even attack you in some way? You would need to photographed and identified if you wanted to share your story. PM me if you would like to chat. Thanks, Penny.
  9. Hi all....am free for the next few Sat mornings if anyone is around? Penny. January 24th Penny - Don't know. February 18th KathG - Blue January 15th Candj (no.3!) - Blue January 26th Vickster - Pink!
  10. Sorry..couldn't make this in the end but hope to see you all next time. Penny.
  11. jctg - I don't think it's OTT to say we shouldn't open the door to someone we don't know. I never do. I look out of the window and ask them how I can help, first. Just because some of us take a 'better to be safe than sorry' approach doesn't mean that we think the whole world is out to get us either, or that everyone is out to scam/hurt us. But very occasionally they are and when you're in your own home, especially if you have children around, why should you put yourself in a potentially dodgy position? I think it's perfectly reasonable to not answer to strangers.
  12. Did a little trawl of the charity shops this weekend. We picked up a picture that we love from St Christopher and it was a fabulous, affordable price. The stuff in Mind is definitely too highly priced. We all know it's for charity, but most of us go in hoping to find a bargain and people know when they are paying over the odds. There is a jacket in there that was mine at the moment. It wasn't expensive in the first place but it is priced at more than I paid for it new! Also, I do find the staff in there really awkward. They don't encourage me to buy at all. It has a strange atmosphere.
  13. Hi Kelster, I think a few of us might be due around that time. My first baby is due on 24th Jan. Come along to our meet-up on Saturday if you can. Penny.
  14. Hi Natalie, come along and bring the kids. So, we're on for 10.30am at Green and Blue? See you all then.
  15. there's only a 13 month gap between me and my sister. I was four months old when the doctor happily told my mum 'congratulations!'. She always says she wanted the ground to open up and swallow her! My sister loves that story, i'm sure. Interesting thread though as I'm pregnant with my first and it's good to hear about how long 'these things' take.
  16. Hello all..glad there's a few of us who can meet.... Littlebelka, do you not know of anywhere else, if Green and Blue isn't your fav? I am sure we're all happy to go to a different place if you want to suggest one? Not having any little ones yet, I'm not up with the most child friendly places, so can't suggest, but happy with anywhere. Look forward to meeting on Sat anyway. Penny.
  17. ...saw a huge one in there not long ago. Scared me! It always seems to be full of fried chicken boxes and waste that place, so i'm sure that doesn't help.
  18. will check both out. Brilliant....thank you.
  19. ...my sister is visiting this weekend with my five and two year-old nephews. Does anyone know of an indoor soft play place we could drive to? Or something like that...or have any suggestions of somewhere we could take the boys as the weather isn't looking great! Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Penny.
  20. Sorry you can't make it GP. Kirsten, just to say we are talking about Sat 18..just in case you thought it was this Saturday coming. Hope to see you though. Penny.
  21. Hi Debbie...Brilliant, glad you're free. Shall we say Green and Blue then? 10.30am? Who else is around? Hope to see you all. Penny.
  22. Hello...well after all my worries about my twelve week scan...my 20 week is nearly here now. Jut wondering, how many of you were accidentally told, or know of people who were told the sex at this scan even though they didn't want to know and said so? I keep reading that it happens rather often.... We have decided not to find out and my partner is adamant he does not want to know....BUT I can't help having a tiny, sneaky hope that they might let it slip!!
  23. HI GP and Neshe...yes come along! Are we on for the Sat 18th? i know some of you can't make it. I am away for two weeks after that. Should we get something in the diary for the 18th? I was just waiting to see if the mums with toddlers wanted to go somewhere new, or if we should stick to Green and Blue. I'd love to try and meet up before I go away (On my last child free holiday ever!!) Penny. x
  24. I sing...haven't done anything for a bit but have really wanted to start a band for a while. Done loads of acoustic-y gigs too (don't play anything though!). Used to gig loads with a guitarist but he moved away and I just haven't found anyone else. Would be really up for meeting. Penny.
