  1. The supermarkets have responded to this and do costumes for under a tenner http://direct.asda.com/george/older-boys-fancy-dress/king-nativity-fancy-dress-costume/G004015692,default,pd.html At the school where I taught for centuries we made a 'nativity' set of costumes and just got them down and reused them every year. No hassle for parents or staff...but laundering heaps of mucky costumes, that I don't miss!
  2. I so feel for you and your little one! It's some 35 years since my then toddler daughter was suffering with atopic eczema. As Gooders above recommended, I contacted the National Eczema Society http://www.eczema.org/ There I found so much support and information...often having more up to date knowledge than my GP and health visitors. I started a local self-help group and met other families with their children. This was a great way of sharing strategies, resources (including out grown pure cotton clothes that cost a bomb in those days!) and others who understood the emotional impact of watching your child suffer. I do hope you find helpful ways of coping with this difficult condition.
  3. http://www.funkymoose.co.uk/haba-dolls/graham-doll-from-haba HABA dolls are my faves for both girls and boys...they also do sets of clothes including a football strip. Funky Moose occasionally do 15% discount as well. Enjoy!
  4. Thank you so much...what would I do without the EDF!!xx
  5. Hi,I need a photocopy of an old foolcap size document. Grateful for suggestions of where this is done locally. Thank you!
  6. Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Shot by the Sherriff was closed on Mondays, but had success with Snappy Snaps in Clapham High Street. Would not recommend the Peckham branch for Oz passports.
  7. Thanks Norfolkvillas; there certainly are very strict guidelines. I wonder if the Peckham Snappy Snapps are as informed?
  8. Has anyone used a local photographer for these with success? (slightly different to UK requirements!)
  9. Just used these for LED lights. Excellent service and competitive prices (and free batteries as a gift!) http://www.energybulbs.co.uk/
  10. Absolutely loving it!! Wish Last Legs could carry on after the games finish! Oh...and have you seen this... Why did 80,000 people at the Paralympics boo George Osborne? Because that's all the stadium can hold.

  12. I'm loving hearing all the music again downloaded from http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008QAFVIW/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B008MIHQQI&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=1MW7YP08PY19C61V0GKZ or ITunes The CD is out Aug 2nd. Play.com has it for ?10.99, slighly cheaper than Amazon. http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/34339707/0/Isles-Of-Wonder-Music-For-The-Opening-Ceremony-Of-The-London-2012-Olympic-Games/ListingDetails.html (Thankfully, no contribution from Paul McCartney!)
  13. Thanks Loz! Here's another wonderful piece
  14. Me too! and here's that music to hum...or whistle!
  15. Do watch at 9.30 to see your local nurses from Kings doing their amazing NHS routine!
  16. Thanks London Mix! No, not there tonight, but the volunteers were given two tickets to the dress rehearsals on Wed night, so I saw it then. I loved it and think Danny Boyle has done a fantastic job in developing the skill and confidence of ordinary people to create a fantastic event. It will have its critics of course, but I really hope most people enjoy all ( or at least some) of the ceremony...especially the NHS/Great Ormond Street session!!
  17. I am so very proud to be mother to one of the thousands of volunteers who are performing tonight! My daughter is one of the local (King's College) nurses performing the NHS section of Danny Boyle's 'Isles of Wonder' narrative. Ellie and the other volunteers have practised their routines in their own time and at their own expense for months now in some atrocious weather conditions. Whatever anyone thinks of the Olympics, please raise a glass to the spirit of local pride and determination that some 15,000 Londoners have shown!
  18. Thank you for highlighting this problem and I too hope the area continues to stay clean. Maybe we have some four legged forumites??

  20. Well done and thank you to all who organised this afternoon!
  21. Thank you Minder. The woman on the phone from the bank (Halifax) took information about the machine's location to have it investigated and made sure I had logged all details of our conversation in case there were any later issues. I just found the experience very worrying and her explanation bizarre, which is why I wondered if it had happened to anyone else.
  22. Just thought I'd share this in case this panic happens to anyone else! Earlier today, I used an ATM (not in ED) outside a building society for a cash withdrawal and the receipt issued showed a balance figure much lower than I knew was in my account. I dashed back home to check my online account and all seemed fine. I phoned my bank, and was reassured that my account was fine, and the receipt was wrong. The woman I spoke to said that these errors happen sometimes when ATM's get old! Has this happened to anyone else?
  23. Thank you everyone for really helpful suggestions! Pam
  24. Thank you Bonfire...very thoughtful!
  25. Just making up a wee parcel for newest arrival to family, a baby girl to be born in Brisbane in late June and wondered if any of our forumites had any ideas for useful items that are available here, but not in Oz? Many thanks.
