  3. I'd like to recommend a graphic designer, Sonja Cresswell <sonjacresswell@hotmail.co.uk, http://sonjacresswell.com/ who I found recommended on this forum. Sonja has now done the logo for my business (after much fussy fine tuning by me!!) and is working on business cards, leaflets, then later a website. She is incredibly patient, intuitive and a superb designer. Big thumbs up!!

  7. Would really appreciate your recommendations for a lightish weight, compact, easy folding pushchair for a toddler 10 months-3yrs or thereabouts - just to use occasionally for shortish journeys when babysitting. Many thanks!

  15. Hi, just wondering if anyone has discovered a way of getting new baby poo stains out of light coloured clothes (apart from a blast of ariel!) Thanks!
  16. Hi, my grandaughter has the same problem but she seems fine with Lavera from Dulwich Health Matters (Lordship Lane). Hope that helps!
  17. Hi, Just wondered if anyone has any experience of Vorwerk carpets? http://www.vorwerk-carpet.com or similar carpets recommended for people with allergies? Thank you, Pam
  18. Hi, It is really important to look through the guidance section of whatever programme you are looking at so that you know the principles underlying the practice. Here's the link for 'Letters and Sounds'. It was written for schools, so some bits you can skip! http://www.teachfind.com/national-strategies/letters-and-sounds-notes-guidance-practitioners-and-teachers The early skills of listening, sound discrimination, rhyming etc - are absolutely vital. Develop these through engaging and playful ways! If you do teach letter sounds (Phase 2), is very important to model the 'clean' sounds and not add an 'uh': mmmmmmm not muh, d not duh etc... Here's the section in Letters and Sounds' Does it really matter how phonemes are pronounced? Some children pick up the skill of blending very quickly even if the phonemes are not cleanly pronounced. However, many teachers have found that for other children pronouncing the phonemes in, for example, cat as ?cuh-a-tuh? can make learning to blend difficult. It is therefore sensible to articulate each phoneme as cleanly as possible. This is also a key point in Read Write Inc and Jolly Phonics. Have fun!
  19. Thank you for all of your suggestions - Suitcase filling up nicely!
  20. Hi, I can always rely on the EDF to give brilliant ideas...I'm going to a family wedding at Easter in Oz and want some gifts for family and friends, obviously UK made, light and smallish for packing. Love to have any suggestions! Many thanks.
  21. Hi, As a literacy tutor and handwriting expert, can I recommend that you hang on to your Tripp Trapps! They are absolutely fantastic for children doing their homework. Ordinary tables and chairs are not at the right height for young children, but the adjustable height of the Tripp Trapp enables the elbows to be supported on the table and ensures that the lower body and feet are stable. Brilliant bit of kit!
  22. My electrician put Philips 6.5W CorePro LEDspot LV MR16 - Warm White (36?) in the bathroom after we'd looked at quite a few brands and colours. You do need to borrow or buy one and put it in the room to see them on...some seemed very green or pink. The ones above are a nice neutral light, not too cold or yellow. I used http://www.energybulbs.co.uk/ and they were great. Hope that helps, Pam
  23. Oooohhh...the Family Room has always solved my problems, so here goes! I need to prepare a Powerpoint presentation in the next few days and would like to have one or two tutorials from an experienced user to learn how to use it quickly and effectively. I'd be very grateful if anyone can recommend or suggest a suitable tutor; PM or phone 07811404157 Many Thanks! Pam
  24. Hi Jolly Mummy, I am a Brisbanite born and bred, though I've lived in the UK since 1973. Work aside, just be very sure you could stand the heat and humidity. Winter, spring and autumn are gorgeous, but summers can be very sticky. Good luck whatever you decide!
