HI, anyone got any top tips for teaching 6 year old to ride a bike, he was fine on a balance bike and ok with stabalisers but is NOT getting the hang of things now the stabalisers are off. im sure its the way he sits lol...My son only likes to do things he is good at and can be quite stroppy if he cant get things right the first time. Thi is treaching him a very valuble life lesson but I think if he cant get the hang of it by day 5 (day 3 currently admittedly only a couple hours of training, my back cant take the strain)this life lesson may be kicked ot hte curb! thanks xxx

How do you encourage attachment (to a thing)
madmum replied to littleEDfamily's topic in The Family Room Discussion
both mine have a fav toy both of which came from Ikea, Fisrt child feel in love with a rat known as Mr Rat who suffered many tragic deaths 1. feel out of our 1st floor flat window and the evil people downstairs refused to retrive it for him 2. MIA in sainsbury (this was a regular thing always guarenteed to raise a scream by un suspecting shoppers) 3. left in spain, we had to explain that he had family over there so felt like he needed to stay,we replaced him with Mr rats brother ratty...god the things we do 4. suffered a bad burn and had to be repaired at the animal hospital also known as my cupboard under the stairs, Ratty had to have 50 stiches and son received a lolly for his bravery 5. he finally went missing on north cross road never to be seen again (rat number 8 by this time) i explained that Ratty had decided that his job was done and like Mary Poppins he went when the wind changed to help someone else,,I was convience by this tale but mini mad son was not....ratty was replaced by ginny le pig (again from Ikea) he is now bed ridden due to his age and son now being 6. Second son felt a bound with an ikea ardvark!!!! he is sadly discontinued so am thinkning I may have to have him tagged! These little creatures have proved viatl to us and our sons, strange how something so simple can make everything ok...Wish sometimes I still had mine(a small peice of flannette aaffectionatly known as my baby) Good luck xxx -
Oh dear this is a very tricky job i just had to hold a pot ready and I put babies hand in warm water(good old Uni trick) this then makes baby want to pee. good luck xxx

Why did you not speak with the parent, your post may be a good way of venting your frustration but I feel maybe a little pointless. -
Another nursery thread - Advice needed!
madmum replied to susyp's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Try Puddleducks, they are all super lovely and very caring, my little one freaked out when we took him to one nursery (he was 2 3 months) they had no patients and told me he was not ready and they could not handle his screaming! so then I was lucky to get a space at puddleducks, started him with 2 hours and it only took 2 mornings before he was fine, well he did cry when I left and as you can imagine my heart was breaking and I was blaming myself for being a bad Mummy, but the girls called me after 30 mins and said he is fine...In the end he cried when I picked him up! Im now planning on starting my 2nd child now 2.5 months so fingers crossed it will be a smooth transistion. Think the age range is 2 upwards they all just mix in there is no age seperation. I'm sure once you find the right nursery your little one will be fine. Good Luck xxx -
yawn yawn I hear you all say....I know this is a repeated thread but I have been out of the nursery loop for a couple of years and things seem to have changed. My first son went to Puddleducks and loved it but the distance may prove a problem for grandma who will be picking little man up and currently does not drive. I have not been there for over a year and have no idea if the same staff are there or if the reports are good. I am going to look at My Fav Nursery(old Bojangles) but am a little wary as everything I read seems a little vauge i hope its not sure and firm with a nicer name!!! is gumboots open? Help is most definatly needed, pleeeease share your knowlegde I promise i will put it to good use!

How to get TODDLER to understand THROWING is not good?
madmum replied to bee74's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I too have the same problem, my little man is 22 months I Have tried to tell him no throwing toys, only balls even started sicker chart but he is not having any of it, bascily you tell him no and he thinks this is mega funny and does it even more. I also have a problem with him running off jsut runs without a care in the world and if you tell him stop,,you guessed it he runs faster. I have tried the naughty step (he went through a biting phase thankfully short lived but never the less quite traumatising) and its hard to keep a wiggly 22 month sat down and for them too understand why they are there, he thought this was funny too. Gosh this post makes him sound like a little nightmare and he's not really he is actually very loving and loves sharing but just has a problem with the word NO. These kids aye smarter than we give them credit for! -

lol!! brilliant, made this bad mummy feels so much better. mine are also raised on beans(i belive they are a veg)and fans of nuggets sadly they are not chip / waffle/smiley faces fans, much the pity i love them! I find teh cod in parsley sauces a life saver for a busy working mum...look I have tried chopping up the veg and pots of houmus and to be honest I end up eating the veg whilst they eat the houmus with crisps! My 22 month has a deep love of biscuits so i bribe him most days with a custard cream! I shalll continue to give my mad bunch a little bit of everything, I have seen the results of being denied goodies and its not pleasent! viva le revolution!!! -
I am having a nightmare with the battle of the stains! When I collected my son from school yesterday his white polo top looked like an advert for DAZ seriously i have no idea how he gets so dirty? yesterday for instance he had raspberry juice, felt tip, paint, chocolate and for good luck a grass stain....the amount of money I spend on vanish and other such products I think it cheaper to buy new tops!

Gosh reading your posts has made me feel terrible lol! my little mans lunch looks very sad in comparisson...but im with you guys its a defo prob,,bet even Jamie Oliver gets stuck in a pack lunch rut..his kids are prob crying out for a frube or a rocky bar. mad son tneds to like chesse and crackers, cheese and ham wraps, cheese cheese and a bit more cheese! The coppleston centre coppleston road, they have a big kitchen where you can set up food and the hall is great they can supply climbing stuff, slide , crash mats...not sure how much it is though. great space for kids to just run around in circles(which mine tend to do, not sure why???)

oh poor you, well i got hit by the redundancy bat back in April! you have to sign on anyway to keep paying your NI contributions. its all a bit of a mind field really. I just sorta went in they gave me a bool I was sent home to fill it in. basicly if you have saving over 16k then you get no Job seekers allowence(?60 every 2 weeks)and they also take in to consideration your living marital status, example: so if your better half is earning mega bucks then you get didly squat as they can support you. If your redundancy payout is over the 16k then id go in there sign the book for your NI contributions then run out shouting up yours im off to the caribbean sod your bloody JSA and poxy Job Club its rum punches for meeeee!! Just think now you can start again perhaps even a career change...im currently finding myself and contemplating making hats out of pipe cleaners and selling them on Northcross Rd. Good Luck madmum queen of the arts and crafts

if you fancy a trip to london then i can reccomend Tantrum on the kings road...its v cool kids get to sit in planes, cars, trucks whilst really friendly ladies take time to cut thier little locks, also another distraction is a selection of dvds they can watch whilst its being done, all polished of with sweets!!! my son loved it he felt all grown up plus i took my 10 year old cousin who played on the wii whilst he waited. it cost ?20 bit much but was a v good haircut and i did not have to say stay still stay still once!!!!!PRICELESS!!!

hi there,,,,bottle feed both of mine,,the stress and pressure to breast feed was to great it nearly sent me to a very darkm place, so as a working mum bottle all the way,,,1st child cow and gate no problems child was never poorly he only started getting colds and the like when he started nursery at 2 and 3/4!!! 2nd son 7 months started on cow and gate started to have a bit of colic or reflux we are still not sure but anyhooo swapped him to aptimill and touch wood all is well,,,happy healthy and now on big boy lump food with only 1 bottle a day...think the best thing to do is go with your 1st choice baby will soon tell you if its not to his liking! I have soooo many friends who have felt like they HAD to breast feed mainly they are forced by midwives, or lead to belive they will loose weight quicker hahahaha...but all that happened is that that never went out for 2 months till they swapped baby to bottle... soory about poor grammer and spelling but baby thinks he is the next bill gstes and wont stop touching the key pad arghhhhhhhh good luck mad mum xxx
