You could try London Thunder Basketball. I know they run summer camps for ages 8-15 and have an under 12s team.

Would you send your child to private secondary?
madmum replied to LouieM's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We have 1 child in private school, from year 6 prep and have noticed a massive difference in his behaviour and general attitude. If you have the opportunity then id say do it. FYI both my husband and I went to SE London state schools? -
Hi, can you help? Thinking of taking the kids to Ibiza in August as DH will be there on a lads holiday. Whilst he is killing his liver I shall be in main land spain at my parents. The plan is to leave there and join DH for our family holiday. Anybody have any recommendations on resorts? We have 2 boys 11 and 8 who mainly like to play football, swim and eat! My wish list is, modern apartments/hotel on the beach, a nice selection of bars and restaurants nearby, good location for day trips, not too touristy. xxx

What about the Pizza Bus at Deptford Bridge? -
Just to let you know that thankfully Johnny has now been found in Peckham Rye Park, a bit sun burnt and thirsty but still smiling! A massive thank you to Will the park keeper! Thank you ED Forum?.. Hi All, My Uncle is missing, he was last seen at home in Nunhead around lunchtime yesterday. Johnny has a form of Dementia, his short term memory is really poor which means he wont have a clue where he has been or what he was doing, his condition also means he wont eat or drink unless prompted to do so. Johnny has no ID, Phone, Money or Oyster on him. Johnny has lived in the area all his life and is well known in most of the pubs on Lordship Lane ( i have left my number with a couple of pubs that were his regular haunts). He used to live on HIndmans Road. We know he wont travel out of the area. He also liked to sit on the benches at the top of Peckham Rye park over looking Harris Boys. Johnny Corcoran is 61 years old 5ft 8 slim build balding with white hair he has quite a red face with some facial hair (also white) Last seen wearing black/navy tracksuit bottoms and a light grey long sleeved top. He has no other medical needs. He is not harmful and will appear very happy and smiley and be convinced he has been to work (road sweeper for Southwark). The police have been informed and I have called all the local hospitals, My next stop is the park keeper at Peckham Rye. As you can imagine we are incredibly worried about him. If you see him PLEASE call me 07510 705557 Many Thanks xxx

Really exciting, survey done, Good Luck. -
Not all schools are turd just some? IMO If our child doesn't get into a Independent then of course he will go to a state school, but probably not around here?YES we will move for a school?.oh yes I am one of those people! Mums gotta do what a mums gotta do.

We earn an average wage, we have managed to pay for childcare over the last 10 years (circa ?15,000 pa) so we will plough on. Even if you tutor your child and they pass the exams who's to say they will be offered a place, it's more than money and results, you child has to have the right attitude. My child has seen all the schools in the area from state to independent, He has decided to sit exams for 2 independent schools, we will not be tutoring him, he will have to work hard. I meant as a pupil! Both my husband and I went through the system so know the pitfalls..you can be blinded by the sales pitch and ofsted reports if you like but a turds still a turd no matter what you wrap it in.

How many of you have actually been through the inner city state school system? Forgive me if I have this wrong, but it's not just about being in a position to afford the fee's, your child has to sit and pass an entrance exam and an interview before they are even offered a place at an independent school. You cant just roll up in your Barbour jacket with an overpriced sour dough loaf in each pocket, waving wads of cash at the admissions office(NB if this can be done then watch out DC this Barbour wearing, posh loaf buying inner city mum is on her way) Where will I be sending my kids? If they pass the entrance exam then private all the way. Judge if you like cos quite frankly I'm not bothered.

As a mum of a child attending Lyndhurst Im am especially keen to find out if Charter 2 will defo be taking admissions Sept 2016! We live well in the 1.5km suggested catchment, I'm kinda of popping all our eggs in this basket! I watch with great anticipation, as the thought of moving out of the area makes me shudder!

Ive given up! I love playing with the lego and enjoy watching the boys create stuff with it but as a mum it drives me NUTS! We tend to keep the mega lego models displayed, but inevitably they all get broken and I mourn for the 3 hours I spent making the Millennium Falcon! We keep most of it in this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Keter-Drawer-Tower-Storage-Unit/dp/B00KETX3UG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424340123&sr=8-1&keywords=tower+storage+boxes+wheels quite handy and as its on wheels, you can move the lego all around the house (fantasic!!) When we first got it I sorted all the bricks out, now its just 3 draws mixed bricks and bits, we can spend what feels like a lifetime rummaging around for a flat 4 brick in beige! lol I tend to be really OCD about the mini figures and keep them all in a giant lego head. x

Brilliant, Thanks guys! My little man needs to learn to relax! will check them all out.
