  1. Byelaws are determined by local authorities, unfortunately I have been unable to find out if this covers Dulwich park. I have spoken to someone at council who has given me an email, parksatsouthwark.gov.uk.where any questions regarding the law around this can be answered. I can't email. I can understand how this could be an issue for people, everyone has different experiences, just as there may be many reasons this was a totally innocent situation, there are many reasons people may think it is not. I appreciate the op posting as it would be interesting to hear what the parks would recommend should a situation arise where there is a worry. I say this as a mother whose sons often meet up with there sister and my grandddaughter, she can often be late, and they are left hanging around. The op gave no description and has shared her uneasyness which has brought to attention a number of issues. If anyone emails and gets a reply I would be intersted to know.
  2. Scotland and Wales governments have both funded this service in schools, does this not happen in England. Alice do you know if this service is ever funded, us this a problem for every school, where they have to find the money.
  3. Thanks Gerry, I believe it is a valuable service. I am surprised that children can be open about problems at home eg parents drug use etc. How clear is that line of confidentiality when parents are part of the problem. Can there be circumstances which could put a child at risk and is this defined.do you find children are aware of this, therefore hold back information they know would cause the situation to be taking iutside the help you are offering.

Agree with above, although we understand laws are put in place for child protection, schools are limited to what they can do because they or psychologist within school must report certain circumstances making confidentiality impossible. I spoke with people running counselling at Charters when I visited with my granddaughter, and although they may look individually at pupils and situations they are bound by law. I also found it strannge this was offered as appointment only. Alice, Can you say why you do not wish to give the name of the school.
  5. https://essureproblems.co.uk/?page_id=48 Above is a link to support groups for people who are suffering due to essure.
  6. Its a disgrace, when bayer took over this company/product in 2013 there had already been thousands of complaints to the FDA. As usual the company have been protected, cant look up at moment. I believe this product was pulled last year. Why arent peoples experiences taken seriously, anyone trying to question safety around pharmaceutical drugs are looked on as conspiracy loons. That has and is the situation, the whole system needs reformed.
  7. Thanks Mark T, it will be interesting to see When and how the candidates publicise the event.
  8. Pugwash, do you know if leafleting is done for hustings? Is any help needed. Is there a group of people in the community centre organise this. Mark T Is there any confirmation on candidates who are attending? I have only found out this is organised by the community not local council. Thank you.
  9. The fragility of our planet is the main issue for me, I want to know who takes it seriously enough, what there plans are to deal with the emergency facing us and are they willing to change politics and how it doesnt work. I want a government that reflects peoples views. Im sick of this system that isolates peoe not only from each other but from nature. I believe our existance on this planet is seriosly under threat.
  10. Im tempted to vote for labour, which would be a first but overall so many different policies overlap. The truth matters, I dont believe a party who are not willing to be transparent with difficulties within there parties. They should be open with the public on there procedures to attempt to solve differences, regardless of whether a solution has been found.I dont know if Rashid Nix will be green candidate,He just feels more real. We are living in a sick society bred by a government that seems unable to hear the majority of its population. I find Corbyn to be honest and fair but feel the greens as a party will bring the change that is needed.
  11. I think there should be a representative from main parties regardless if there sttanding or not, to at least explain there action to step down. Maybe this will happen. Considering Southwark Council declared a climate emegency, im surprised the timings of the hustings doesn't reflect a more suitable time.
  12. Mark T, thanks for organising this, is this the case that the times are to fit in with candidates timetables. Can you tell us who has got back to you and the candidates who have agreed to come. It would be interesting to know. Thanks
  13. Pugwash Do you know if this is a common occurence, I would have thought, considering it may not ba a huge turnout, the candidates would find a space where as many people as possible gets a chance to come. I have only been once at the hustings in the community centre, and there was not a big crowd. With all the chaos within government, local candidates should be calling themselves to meet us, instead of finding the best available slot for us.
  14. Great this is being organised Mark T unfortunately the time is going to limit attendance. Would be fantastic if it can be recorded. Is there any way questions can be asked for those who cant make it. Sorry edited to be clearer.a
  15. Spring Time, havoc is happening every day from our government whose decisions create turmoil and worse. Yes there are worst countries to live in, but that doesn't mean nothing to people who have endured pain brought on through systems that do not work. Whilst the usual untouchable offenders, carry on, business as usual. I've never known in my life a time where so many people young and old who feel cheated and unable to do anything about. People looking forward to retiring after working all there life told, oh 6 yrs more, young people unable to get a job that would cover rent and travel.Havoc, i'm happy to see the energy mustered up against the havoc thats been and still being caused. Uncle Glen, love it, taking in a homeless man, theres more than a cover story, im not making little of neighbours concerns but heh its the same old media, telling a story of how awful it is for the people, no solutions except hassling people for a story and encouraging distance between people. What is there job, telling stories, news, breeding contempt, ???
  16. Sue, I believe they are are connected, many of the laws challenged around living off grid is a result of people recognising change. And hopefully it will be made easier for people to have more say on decisions around energy, home emissions and positive changes in there everyday life. Springtime Actions taken today may help your year on year efforts. https://www.bioregional.com/ Edited to add link and say it feels a perfect time for people coming together. http://www.oneplanetcouncil.org.uk/ Sorry another link, dont know how to link more than 1.
  17. Springtime, I'm curious to know if you see yourself and others as being part of a positive, proper rebellion by moving towards living off grid. You seem to be able to recognise a personal effort to do this, so why can't you recognise other peoples efforts to move towasrd a different way of living. Your assumptions of how people live and your inability to acknowledge the changes that need to come outside of your own life results in your comment about flying planes into buildings, albeit you were probably taking the piss.
  18. Hi James can you tell me if the grounds of One tree hill and St Augustine Church are managed organically, thanks.
  19. Hi, this may be wrong section but does anyone know if grounds in One Tree Hill and specifically St Augustine Churchs garden,is organically managed, I will also ask james, the councillor, thanks.
  20. Micromacromonkey I didn'actually say i didnt want access or smartphone (I am using my phone now) I do know a lot of people who don't though and of course its a choice they had but now no longer have. I took my sister into Tart the cafe in Lordship lane, it was a treat, she was visiting, I had no idea it was card only and of course I couldnt pay, there was a tiny little sign which I hadn't noticed. Didn't bother me apart from the fact my sister had to pay, its not really my thing and no probs.I don't know the cafe mentioned here but if it has changed from cash paying to non cash paying I think people would feel there choice to use the cafe had been taken from them.
  21. Johnl, If I lost my card no one could buy anything although i'd still worry about fraud as I'm not up on scams. I find it amazing that nothing can be done about telephone scams. My sons bank was scammed, there was some cheques put into his bank which gradually got bigger withdrawn after a few days. Then one was put in for over a couple of grand, it was spent outside of london in apple shops etc and was allowed to go into credit of a few hundred pounds. He was not working at the time. He was treated like a criminal it took months to prve his innocence, there was no apology for the stress that was caused.
  22. I have lost my card once inall the years i have had it. I was unable to use my account to withdraw money from the bank as i did not have photo ID. Luckily i could borrow money till my new card was sent. It made me feel extremely tied to a system that firstly can't be trusted, that seemed unable to understand my situation, relies almost soley on technology and ensures a better working of there system for the rich. If someone gets on the bus whose oyster card has run out you can no longer offer to help by paying, you can't tap your oyster twice. Yes you may go into minus with a card but it encourages a "not my problem" attitude. Oops didnt save my edit, to say, fraud and corruption are rife in banking, last year in uk there were victims, albeit a small amount who were not reimburst. This problem runs through banking or do we have a situation where we are able to trust this system regardless of the past.
  23. I have a card you can only take money out with, that suits me. If card is lost there will be no immediate alternative. Not everyone has nor wants access to computers or has smart phones. Sorry havent read all this thread but just saying.
  24. Sweetgirl are you suggesting anyone who got a bus to protest is a hypocrite. Yes there may be peple who have never protested before the difference with XR unlike many groups in the past is the fact they want people to realise themselves rather than poiinting the finger and making people feel alienated. I belueve this recent protest has many different groups involved and been welcomed.

We can probably all find opposing ways we behave, our backgrounds may have an impact on our learned ways especially when trying to change patterns we have come accustomned to. Do you feel it would be more difficult for people from certain backgrounds?
