  1. I am in total agreement with Geh, and I am afraid I find Malumbo's interjections tiresome if this person does not actually live here and see first hand the chaos that has been created. The purpose of the LTN's was to create cleaner air - the result is a few streets have been shut off (with the majority of residents against) and horrendous congestion on all the other roads. Emergency vehicles ARE being delayed no matter what those in support say, and there are just too many people who have been significantly negatively impacted. I have never voted anything but Labour my whole life but the mind set of the current council incumbents are making me look around (I could never vote conservative but I am looking at other candidates) I fear I am not alone
  2. Oh please give a local business a break....
  3. Still trying to work out the OP's problem
  4. I am sick to death of the LTN denyers ignoring the fact that there is ample footage of constant gridlock on manyalot of roads because some key artery roads have been shut off. There is too much footage of ambulances and other emergency vehicles caught in gridlock I have lived here for over 30 years, and since the LTN's went in, the traffic is appalling. Midwives and other health care workers are reporting serious concerns local long standing businesses are voicing serious concerns some local businesses have had a dramatic negative impact on their day to day running The fact that it is a few very wealthy streets with wide roads and front gardens who are 'benefiting' seems bizarre when most people are negatively impacted as a cyclist, some of the main roads are now more dangerous the levels of animosity/anger/division that these changes have caused in our community seems incredibly unhealthy let alone the raised pollution levels for the majority of residents There seems to be a completely blinkered approach from the council - they only want to listen to people who are of their point of view. I have emailed the various councillors and it is very clear they have to toe the line. It seems incredulous that we have all been through the most difficult year, part of which is an enourmous negative impact on local businesses hanging on by the skin of their teeth - only to have any sort of recovery dreadfully curtailed. These 'tweaks' are creating havoc - the were implemented for the best intentions but please wake up = they are having the most dreadful results and actually causing worse damage to the air quality to the majority. edited to add that the businesses I know and residents are very concerned about the impact on their day. businesses are reporting a real concern about lack of passing trade residents feel "locked in"
  5. I have never seen the traffic so bad as in the last few days - so by closing alot of main routes, the gridlock on the A roads are very bad, causing other routes to have to be used. It is complete and utter nonsense to assume that all the mobile tradespeople, builders vans etc are just going to disappear? Let alone people trying to get to their place of work (it now takes over an hour on the bus from penge to east dulwich due to gridlock)
  6. Surely you cycle to the pedestrian crossing, dismount, press button, walk the bike across the road? I am not sure what the issue is?
  7. Another big thumbs up for Knight & Sons - quick to respond - efficient and tidy - highly recommend.
  8. we do not seem to be getting our post - loads of birthday cards and a couple of pressies posted well over a week ago have not arrived - we seem to get sales mail (foxtons/specsavers etc) which is addressed to us, but personal post is not getting thru. Really annoying we are in the goodrich/friern road area
  9. ;the poor things are hiding - three line whip to toe the line on supporting a dreadful policy destroying local businesses and creating massive congestion and pollution for most people to the benefit of a few bods. it would seem that most residents and businesses in the shut down areas do not actually want them
  10. I wish them a successful reopening ! it's been tough enough
  11. James It appears that Callow Locksmiths in the Melbourne grove is the first long standing local business that is having to move due the problems caused by LTNs - personally I don't think they will be the last. Have the council actually communicated with local businesses? I can see from a number of traders on twitter that they are not being responded to - it would be such a shame if our local businesses (which are part of the appeal to this area) are being forced to close due to lack of access OR such a highly polluted high street. The ongoing discussions about delays to emergency vehicles (in particular ambulances) and the dreadful pollution now on the main roads where the majority of people/children are walking or cycling

  13. I a supporting this - BAME stuff not relevant tbh - all children/families walking to most local schools horribly affected by increased pollution alot of primary schools and nursery schools negatively affected alot of secondary schools - state and private negatively affected Any homes/houses on the main roads negatively affected Patients attending (in particular - tessa jowell health centre) appointments negatively affected businesses in east dulwich/dulwich village negatively afftected emergency health services attending any sort of emergency (let alone life threatening) negatively affected police ability to attend incidences negatively affected. cyclists finding routes more dangerous and more polluted (thats me BTW) long standing local businesses trying to make a living - negatively affected public walking up and down LL shopping negatively affected REALLY looking forward to any councillor /politcal rep knocking on my door....
  14. Clean Air Dulwich are very clearly in the 'its our way or nothing' camp, whereas I understand that this campaign is addressing the very real concerns related to the now stationary and polluting traffic and need to be able to present data to a council that is refusing to engage. As a frequent cyclist, these congested main roads are now worse to cycle along in terms of both air quality and safety. plus of course the numpties who walk in the middle of court lane despite perfectly serviceable pavements either side.
  15. Yes I am just sick of the fact that the majority of us going about our business (walking to work/school) are suffering increased pollution and congestion. Small businesses are bearing the brunt of reduced trade - melbourne grove, Lordship lane, and of course our local mobile businesses who have posted on twitter. I'm sorry, most of us cannot afford to buy a cargo bike for carrying large loads - most of us do not have anywhere to store the blooming things. I am a cyclist and car user - and I am very unhappy with the whole implementation of this disaster.
  16. interesting how so many schools (and children) are now suffering from walking past idling traffic caused by LTNs. How many schools/Nurseries on East Dulwich Grove?
  17. Absolutely!!!!
  18. Won't be visiting Gails
  19. hmm wonder who else hasn't been caught out yet.....
  20. Just noticed the post box on the corner of goodrich and dunstans road (next to the bollards at Goodrich school) is full to the brim - so it looks as if it has not been collected for week. I popped a small parcel in and realised that it wasn't going any where soon so was able to reach in and remove it. Post box out side FH office is completely emtpy. Not sure if the new bollards are deterring collections (not sure why) I will try and alert the necessary body but if you have posted anything there recently be aware.

    Forum decorum

that's weird sue - pretty sure I have used that as an opener...... and I am still here (I think)
  22. love how empty the roads are (obs pre LTNs...)
  23. where is that?
  24. Can anyone confirm that northcross road is now a no through road? I have seen something on 'next door east dulwich' where someone has said this has restricted access I am surprised that no one has mentioned this if the case - and this makes moving around East dulwich completely bonkers (ie I collect regular prescriptions from Lloyds, but usually say on the way to sainsbos for the big shops. this suggest looping all around back and forth -not to mention limiting yet more the trade for the East Dulwich Shops.
  25. So the ruling is that pollution significantly contributed to the death of a child (who lived close to the south cirular) With this is mind, this must surely trigger some sort of investigation as to how the LTN's are causing significant increases in pollution along this same road. Of course, the current situation means that public transport is a less attractive prospect, however the southcircular from Lancaster avenue, all the way up to the harvester was very slow moving/stationary this afternoon. Similarly, turning the corner towards east dulwich, the traffic queuing in the other direction was backed up to friern road. It is very clear to me that the main roads are very heavily congested. every saturday lordship lane is completely chocker heading down to goose green. The people benefiting from the restricted access roads are the very people who have large front and back gardens protecting them from traffic. The higher numbers of people/children attending the schools and nurseries are dealing with higher pollution. I just don't get it....
