  2. End of the world no. End of Askes as we know it...maybe.
  3. Please let me know if it works for you - I've only ever used it on children but thought it might help you as you're pregnant and limited to what you can take.
  4. 35 of the prospective new year sevens being Temple Grove and indistinguishable from anyone else. Why was you expecting them to have green heads or something? lol!
  5. Buy Evening Primrose Oil in capsules. Break the capsule and spread the oil onto the skin. I don't believe in alternative remedies usually, but this does work - especially for infantial eczema.
  6. As someone who had never dealt in alternative medicine I was very dubious when the midwife suggested CO for a very large bump on my baby's head. I left it for months but it just wouldn't go away. Eventually I thought it couldn't hurt and made an appointment. The man held my baby in his hands for half an hour without seemingly moving his fingers. He only reshifted position a few times, so when I came out of his consulting room I told my husband what a waste of time and money that was. Within a week the bump had disappeared and I have now become an advocate of CO. CO, I have been informed, is post-grad stuff not quackery. Just make sure you check qualifications.
  7. Yes it's a very sweeping statement without any supporting substance. A few years ago some parents told me that Fairlawn was rubbish - and I'm glad I didn't listen to them. My children have had a fantastic time and education there and Fairlawn, from what I understand, is now one of only three schools in the country with Outstanding for every Ofsted criteria and near the top of the Lewisham league table. If Kingsdale is as 'rubbish' as Fairlawn then I will be a very happy parent indeed!!>:D<
  8. Did you have to be at school though by 8:30 though KalamityKel?
  9. I too spoke to one of the Deputys at the open evening. She told me to give my child's name to a member of staff who was making a list. Three other parents put their name on it - we are all Catford/Brockley way though.

Three generations of my family went to poorly-performing schools in Lewisham and I'm not keen on history keep repeating itself. As regards Askes not being 'a bastion of the middle class anymore' you make an interesting point. The 'Monson' primary school is in an owner-occupier area, not the middle of a council estate, so it won't be very long before the middle-classes will be buying up the houses around there anyway.

The question is are they going to be able to manage the challenging behaviour if they have not had to deal with it in the past? From various sources, including some comments in their Ofsted report, it doesn't sound too promising.
  12. My niece left Askes last July and she told me all the best teachers have gone becuase they don't like the way the school is changing. I suppose she should know what she is talking about she went there for seven years.
  13. My son is also starting Kingsdale in Sept. There are some 10+ children going from Stillness, so added to the Fairlawn children it sounds like the P4 will be full as well!
