Dulwich Medical Centre (Post removed)

Why allow the 'school for idiots' thread then?? It's acceptable to call local children idiots? -
I've used a collection/delivery laundry service a while back. There number is 020 8653 4315. Not sure if they are still doing it.

Most famous person I've seen in ED so far....

I saw Patrick Baladi (from The Office and Mistresses) in Dulwich Library a while back, refusing loudly to pay the fines on his overdue DVDs. -
What to do about all the dog pooh in Dulwich?
AdaDoom replied to TonyQuinn's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have on several occasions noticed dogs pooing in parks etc while their owners are looking away/chatting etc. When I've pointed it out they appear very embarrassed and rush off to pick up the poo, although sometimes they can't find it. They are obviously conscientious owners but still they contribute to the problem. So I don't think its right to say its a few irresponsible owners who wilfully leave their dogs poo around, anyone can miss it and so all dog owners need to take more responsibility for this problem and be more vigilent. -
There used to be one called Dizzee Rascals at the Copleston centre on Wednesdays after school, not sure if they still do it.

Any ideas where we could go sledging after school today, i.e. from 4pm. Horniman gardens was brilliant on Friday but closes at 4.20 so no point going there this afternoon. Any suggestions??

This guy was extremely rude and horrible to me a few years ago but I recently thought I'd give the shop another go, and was amazed at how rude and unhelpful he still is. He has stayed outside the shop chatting to people or on the phone while ignoring me looking for something inside, and has also told me grumpily that he will move rolls of fabric so I can look through them, and when I said no need, I can see enough he said 'I'm moving them anyway'! even more grumpily. He's remarkable, and Ive decided not to bother with the shop again. Sounds like most people find him difficult. I wonder how he's stayed in business!

Maybe it's there to let someone in a wheelchair get onto the pavement after parking their car and getting out onto the road?

2 year old won't stay in bed...HELP!
AdaDoom replied to AdaDoom's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thank everyone. Having a 5 year old in the same room who loves the drama compounds the problem but we will keep at it and hopefuly it won't last a year!! -
Any ideas/suggestions on getting an agile 2 year old to stay in bed when we put him up in the evening? He used to go to bed no problem but can now climb out of his cot so we took the side off to stop him falling and breaking his leg. He now gets out of bed repeatedly and gets into his big sister's bed, keeping them both awake for hours after they go to bed.

I have to second this. Ina May Gaskin really opened my eyes to how natural childbirth is and is so empowering. Ignore the bits that are to hippy for you and read the second part of the book particularly. I also did Hypnobirthing at Sitaram who have moved but I think still do their classes at St Thomas'. It was great and these 2 things really helped my second birth be a much more positive experience than my first. Along with the wonderful Brierly midwives, and Im sure Oakwood are just as good.

Hi K our daughter went there from 8 months to 2.5 and the baby room was great then, as nurseries go. Very much depends on staff though. Nikki and Desmond were there then and were excellent. The toddler room was OK but not as great and the standard dropped again when she moved upstairs to the pre-school section. I think that is pretty common in nurseries though as they struggle to engage older children in that setting with underpaid staff. I thought it was well run and very professional, good management, better than most nurseries Ive seen. If your daughter is almost 1 she won't be in the baby room for long so make sure you're happy with the next room up too.

New pasta / pizza joint in Melbourne Grove
AdaDoom replied to David Mc's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The pizza delivery from the Half Moon is excellent. Miles better than Firezza and very quick to arrive. hope we get a nice sit down place here though. -
Are they working on it again then?

I don't think it's going to be anything, as there hasn't been any work on it all year. It was originally going to be 5 small shops to be let out to anyone who wanted them though.
-
Months ago I asked someone on site and he told me it would be 5 shops and 10 flats above. Not seen much work going on recently and wondered whether it had come to a standstill, maybe because of financial problems but I did hear some hammering in there last week so either it's still going ahead or they had an industrious intruder...?

I think the cafe is brilliant. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the try to cater for all special diets (dairy free, wheat free etc) and have lots of veggie and vegan options. Beats Dulwich Park cafe by a mile.

I'm repeating what I posted on another thread as it seems relevant: We walked out of the Plough recently as they were unable to offer ANY dairy free meal (our daughter is allergic) and the chef was incredibly rude about us even requesting such a thing (rolling eyes and tutting). He was also uninformed about the ingredients...suggesting sausage and mash might be dairy free (but there turned out to be butter and milk in the mash), which suggested the food is not cooked on the premises. They were incfrediably unhelpful and do not even have a kids menu so I would not take children there again. I have also seen a Brake Brothers van delivering there early in the morning... I suspect the meals are delivered pre-prepared hence the spinach in your pasta. Have eaten there since without children and food was really poor. Would not recommend it.

They are especially rude and unhelpful about children, and they are always full of kids. I wouldn't bother with it...Jacks rules in our household.
