Lost cat - Friday 21st at 2:30 Bawdale Road/Lordship Lane
AdaDoom replied to Rlyttle's topic in Lost, Found or Stolen
The Baby has been missing since Friday afternoon when she got out of her carrier and ran off near Franklin's on Lordship Lane. Please keep an eye for her and call if you see her. She's a small tabby with a white tip on her tail and probably limping on her front right paw. She is chipped but doesn't wear a collar. -

New Charter School on Dulwich Hospital Site
AdaDoom replied to littlek1cker's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Great to hear this school has been approved. Is there any update on the admissions policy or any way in which we can communicate our thoughts about it to the school board? I am particularly keen that the catchment should cover a wide area of ED to include the current black spot around and behind Peckham Rye park. I would be disappointed if it overlaps significantly with current Charter catchment as that seems to miss the point of a new school. -
Handwriting Coach/Tutor Recommendations Please
AdaDoom replied to vbadham's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I would recommend doing lots of practice with him. You can also improve his fine motor skills by getting him tracing, drawing and colouring activities, anything that lets him practice holding a pencil will help develop the fine motor skills needed to improve his writing. There are handwriting books available to practice making the correct shapes of letters properly too, and for joined up writing which we have found useful. -
I'm wondering if anyone knows any more about this now? Just found out our daughter will be going in Septwmber and we're all delighted so hope this isn't something less than positive to be concerned about. Has a replacement been appointed?

The Ivy House HAS WON an English Heritage Award!!!
AdaDoom replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Went for lunch today full of expectations but roast was well below par (bisto gravy and Yorkshire puds didn't seem freshly made on site). Wasn't looking for 'gastro pub' style but it really wasn't good enought to pay for in my opinion. And those of my fellow diners. Also very poor info as we were told on the phone that bands started at 4 so arrived 1.30 for lunch only to find a band onstage. Asked how long they were playing staff said for the afternoon, only For the band to announce their last song! That was good for us seated by the speaker but makes it all seem very disorganised. Food arrived at all different times over an hour including hungry children's meals which were very late and kids burger far too peppery. So food very disappointing but atmosphere was nice. No kids running around and ours certainly didn't. Staff nice and the manager particularly was helpful and seemed keen for feedback. If the food quality improves I'll make it a regular but that's a big if. Can't understand what chef would use gravy granules and frozen yorkshires?! -

Holidays!! Anyone been 'glamping'?

Hi this place is run by friends of mine who moved to Dorset from ED a couple of years ago. The vans are really beautiful and Jenni and Kevin are brilliant hosts. Glamping at its best! Highly recommend it. http://www.happydaysrv.co.uk/ -
I thought it worth posting on here that I saw someone apparently casing houses to burgle the other night. One lone young man was going in and out of front paths, apparently checking under flower pots/bins for keys or something on the off chance. I have left keys out for my partner in the past but certainly won't again. this was around midnight, around CPR area but could happen anywhere. He seemed to be only going into houses with no lights on. Worth passing on I thought. I did call the police and they were very helpful and responded quickly, but I have no idea whether he was picked up or not.
