Goose Green Primary School tour 11/12/12
goosegreenpta replied to goosegreenpta's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Several parents including parent governors and parents of current reception children will be present tomorrow so do join us after the tour for hot drinks and chat. Babies and toddlers welcome. GGPTA -
Dear all, The last school tour of the year will take place on Tuesday 11th December. There will be the chance to visit the whole school from nursery to year 6, the music and art rooms and breakfast/after school room. Parents of current students will be available for a chat and cuppa afterwards. Please note that the tours have been so popular that we really can't admit latecomers. However there is no need to book, just turn up at the school gates on Tintagel Cresecent between 9am and 9.15 (any earlier and youll get caught up in the morning rush and at this time of year when it's cold and or raining the children don't line up in the playground but in the lower hall which is a bit of a squeeze and best avoided!) We have a beautiful Victorian building with lots of stairs so please bear this in mind if bringing babies and toddlers. If you can't make the tour and/or have any questions for the PTA please feel See you there GGPTA

plea from lordship lane (shops)
goosegreenpta replied to davidh's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
GGPTA would like to echo the sentiments of Heber P&F above. We too ask for raffle prizes twice a year (at our Summer and Christmas fairs) and try to target those businesses where the school parents and teachers shop/eat/drink. We recognise that there are lots of schools and other charities doing the same and the good grace and generosity of those local traders is really gratifying and much appreciated, it makes us very proud to be part of this community. Best wishes for a busy, profitable Christmas and New Year from GGPTA to those business on and around Lordship Lane, Northcross Road, Melbourne Grove and Bellenden Road. -
The Goose Green Primary School Choir will be doing an outdoors 'Carols by Candelight' on the Goose Green (on the bit opposite the roundabout 7 EDT) on Friday December 14th from 6pmish. Everyone welcome to join in - young&old!

Primary schools - can't even get in to see them?!
goosegreenpta replied to alieh's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Next Goose Green tour is 11th December at 9.15 and that's right, no need to book (although we cant rule out that being a feature in the future we will keep the forum posted!) However the tours are so busy during this reception place application window that in order to make the tours manageable and limit disruption to teaching we won't be able to admit latecomers anymore, sorry about that. Good advice by Alieh to try and look at a school outside that reception application window or book early for those that require booking. -
Goose Green Primary School - school tour 6/11
goosegreenpta replied to goosegreenpta's topic in The Family Room Discussion

Goose Green Primary School - school tour 6/11
goosegreenpta replied to goosegreenpta's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Dear all, Thank you for your feedback, delighted to hear that so many of you liked our school. One piece of feedback was that because it was so busy it was rather hectic. I fed this back to the Headteacher this morning who had already had a meeting about that and it has been decided that future tours will not be limited in total numbers but split into groups of 10 they will start at 9.15 and latecomers will be disappointed! Next tour 11/12/12 GGPTA Edited to reflect change of date from 4/12 to 11/11 -
Goose Green Primary School - school tour 6/11
goosegreenpta replied to goosegreenpta's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Fantastic to see so very many people on today's tour, we do hope that you enjoyed seeing our school. Most of you were able to stay for the coffee and chat with parents afterwards but there were so many of you that we are sorry that we didn't get a chance to speak to everyone. If you have any questions or general feedback to pass on then do send a private message and we'll do what we can to address your questions or comments. Good luck with the application process! GGPTA -

Goose Green Primary School - school tour 6/11
goosegreenpta replied to goosegreenpta's topic in The Family Room Discussion
There will be another tour in December and one in January but I'm afraid that they will also be on Tuesdays. GGPTA -
Dear all, If you are looking for a 2013 reception place, nursery place, unhappy with your child's current school or simply curious as to what the fuss is all about, come along to a tour of the school on Tuesday 6th November shortly after 9am. There is no need to book, just turn up at the gates on Tintagel Crescent where you will be met by a member of the senior leadership staff and shown the whole school from nursery to Y6, the art and music rooms, new kitchen and refurbished playground where hopefully our new apple trees have arrived! You are of course welcome to bring children with you but be warned, it is a beautiful listed Victorian building with lots of stairs so not buggy friendly. There will be parents of current pupils on hand after the tour to answer your questions and share their experiences over a cup of tea and a biscuit. For those 50 odd parents who came to the last tour please accept our apologies that the usual PTA presence wasn't available. A combination of new PTA Chairs and new term meant that we just hadn't got into the swing of things but are back on form now. Please feel free to PM if you have any questions and we will do our best to answer them. Kind Regards GGPTA

Looking for Primary school in East Dulwich/Dulwich
goosegreenpta replied to Amandas's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Dear Amandas, the next Goose Green primary school open day is Tuesday 6th November. The Headteacher has an appointment outside school so the tour will be conducted by a member of the senior leadership staff. No need to book an appointment just turn up at the gates on Tintagel Crescent shortly after 9am and come through to reception. There will be parents of children already at the school on hand afterwards to dispense hot drinks and biscuits and share their experience of the school. If you are looking for admission to the current reception class the school has recently converted to academy status and governs its own admissions, the office staff will be able to assist as to the procedure. -
Acceptable sandwich fillings for school?!
goosegreenpta replied to susyp's topic in The Family Room Discussion
In fact hot meals were always available at Goose Green school but prior to the opening of the new kitchen they were prepared and heated up off site. Now the food is so good and free for reception - Y4 as per Southwark policy that only a handful of children have packed lunches. Indeed a good deal of the staff choose to stay and eat their lunch with the children. Parents can come in for lunch which costs ?2 so I've seen for myself that the hall is well staffed with vigilant teachers who ensure that children are eating enough. We have hexagonal tables and table cloths so it all feels rather grown up and sociable. This set up was influenced by the Headteachers visit to Corpus Christi in Brixton, Schools can learn a lot from the best practice of others. -

The carnival was a fantastic end to another great year for GG, with our year on year rise is sats results, great ofsted report, the premises are looking good, we are feeling great. Looking forward to greeting even more lovely parents and children into the school in September. The last school tour saw parents looking for places in nursery, reception, years 1,2 and 4 all keen to secure the very best for their child in this ambitious, energetic school. If anyone has put their name down on the waitlist and manages to secure a place over the Summer when the school itself is closed, please feel free to PM or email goosegreenpta@yahoo.com with any questions you may have and we'll do our best to help. Thank you Renata, we know that the parents support the school and we appreciate the good wishes of the wider community. It is such a super achievement by the staff, children and parents. The PTA has previously posted describing this school as happy, vibrant, ambitious and on the up so we are pleased to see that reflected in the official assessment. There is a school tour on Tuesday 3rd July, if you want your child to have a good education alongside happy polite hard working children then you had better come and have a look.
