We are in final stages of organising our fantastic school fair on Saturday 5th July on Goose Green Common. It will be having a World Cup Theme (obviously) Its is our 11th and always a great event for the whole family and wider community. Last year we had glorious sunshine and a party atmosphere. It starts with a carnival procession of the children from the school led by the school samba drummers band, we will have numerous performances on our stage throughout the afternoon, raffle, face painting, food, ice cream, bar, games, bouncy castle and stalls. If you are a business and are interested in having a pitch at this event we are still taking bookings. The cost is ?35 for the pitch and additonal ?5 if you need to hire a table. If you are a local charity that would like to have a stall this is offered for free but table hire still applies. If youwould like to join us please PM or contact us on goosegreenpta@yahoo.co.uk Look forward to hearing from you, GGPTA

anything fun on this week end for 4 and 1 1/2 year old?
goosegreenpta replied to bee74's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Just a quick correction to a post above - The Goose Green school carnival parade will go down Oglander Road not Ondine road. Leaving school at 11:30am and theme is space so all the children will be wearing space related costumes. -
Isn't that playground fab? The reception playground is lots of fun and pretty big too. Amazing what you can do with a bit of imagination. Have a lovely picnic nursery goers. We look forward to seeing you in September. The nursery is very much a part of the school community as are the parents so do join our mailing list to keep up to date with events. Email us at goosegreenpta@yahoo.co.uk Oh and make sure you come along to watch the carnival parade on Saturday (6th) and soak up the sun and spend a few pounds at our fair on the Green from 12-4pm.

Good thinking HP+F Goose Green has our traditional (10th annual!) carnival parade across Grove Vale down Ondine and up Adys to Goose Green where our fair begins at 12pm. The parade is great the whole school out singing led by the school samba and steel pan bands. We have a packed schedule on stage including the talented choirs and there will be hot food including pizza, Thai and jerk chicken and a fully stocked bar. Panning for gold, bouncy castle and slides, sideshow type pocket money games, coconut shy, facepainting etc Raffle with fab prizes including a Kindle Fire HD, London Eye tickets and tickets to the Dr Who Prom at the Royal Albert Hall as well as loads of lovely prizes from our fabulous local businesses. Oh and Dr Bike will be present offering free bike servicing. See you there Bring on the sunshine

goosegreen school open day tomorrow?
goosegreenpta replied to familyof4's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yes there is a tour around the school for prospective parents tomorrow. It will leave from the reception at 9.15am. I'm afraid that the PTA can't be there tomorrow but please feel free to PM if you have any queries that we could help with and don't forget to come along this Saturday (6th) to our carnival procession onto the Green where we will be hosting our 10th annual school fair. All welcome GGPTA -
Dear Verds, Are you coming to the new reception parents meeting on Wednesday? There are 2 sessions; 2pm or 6pm. At those meetings you will be able to sign up for stay and play sessions where your daughter will have a chance to meet her classmates to be. Also the PTA plan a picnic (on the basis that the sun has to shine one day) at the start of the summer and another at the end. These have proved very popular and a good way to make some contacts. The PTA will be at those meetings and happy to chat. Don't presume that nursery kids will stick together it really isn't like that at all, it's a lovely friendly welcoming place and your little girl will be just fine.

Sainsburys Active Kids Vouchers
goosegreenpta replied to goosegreenpta's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Dear all, If you have been collecting vouchers and would like to donate them to Goose Green please PM and I'll arrange collection or delivery. All local schools and nurseries will be collecting and would appreciate your donation. Many thanks GGPTA -
Parents/carers whose children are starting in September are more than welcome to attend the tour (indeed encouraged!) but it is not exclusively for them. There are meet the teacher sessions planned for later this month when you will also have the opportunity to sign up for stay and play sessions for your new reception starter to come and have a taste of the reception classroom whilst you tearfully clutch a cup of tea nearby. Attendance at those are strongly recommended, if you haven't had the details of the meet the teacher sessions then contact the school for details (my understanding is that the dates of the stay and plays are arranged at the meet the teacher sessions) The tour is for and parent or carer looking for a school place for their child whether that be in the near or distant future, for reception or the upper years. We look forward to seeing you there GGPTA

Goose Green Primary School Tour - 7th May
goosegreenpta posted a topic in The Family Room Discussion
Dear all, For those fortunate enough to have a secured place at our lovely school or are interested in a place for their child in the future come along and have a tour of the whole school on Tuesday 7th May at 9.15. Come to the gate on Tintagel Crescent and make your way to the school office. Children can join you but do note that it is a beautiful Victorian building with quite a lot of stairs! I'm afraid that it won't be possible to admit latecomers so try and arrive early. The PTA hope to be able to rustle up some parents of current students to provide hot drinks, biscuits chat and advice after the tour. See you there GGPTA -
A huge welcome from the PTA to all of those who have secured a place at this high achieving, happy, vibrant local school. You are now part of our school community and can keep in touch with events and achievements by accessing the newsletters from the website www.goosegreenprimaryschool.org (school newsletters in the parent pages and PTA newsletters under the community - PTA section) The school will be sending out details of a welcome meeting shortly and the PTA will be at that meeting. In the meantime you can join our mailing list by sending us a PM with your email address or emailing goosegreenpta@yahoo.co.uk See you soon GGPTA

Saturday Dear family roomers, Goose Green Primary School will be holding it's annual carnival and fair on Goose Green on 6th July 2013 between 12-4pm. This is always a super day which is very well attended by the school and wider community. We invite external stallholders to take a pitch at a cost of ?35 and always make sure that there is no significant duplication of stalls so that traders have a fair chance to make a profit. If you would like further details or a booking form please email goosegreenpta@yahoo.co.uk or PM us on the forum. GGPTA

Dear all, Goose Green primary school years 3 and 4 are staging their best ever (so they say!) production this week. It is the Wizard of Oz complete with a smoke machine (music teacher is v.impressed with this) an Oscar worthy performance from our Dorothy and tunes a plenty, what is not to love? Because it is going to be so brilliant we really would like to fill every seat and so the PTA have been asked to advertise it to the wider ED community. the evening performances are very popular but there are some spaces left for the daytime performances; Tuesday 2pm and Thursday 9.30am. For those parents of younger children looking to go on school tours and the like this may be a great way of seeing the school in action. Tickets are ?2 adults and 50p for children and can be purchased from the school office on Tintagel Crescent. See you there GGPTA

However if you are looking for in year admission to KS2 you will probably have your pick of schools. Most will have open days as the application deadline for reception places is looming. Goose Green Primary School has a school tour on Tuesday 8th January at 9.15 which takes in the whole school including, of course, KS2 and the music and art facilities. There will be parents of current pupils on hand to chat over hot drinks and biscuits after the tour and this is likely to include at least one or two with children in whichever year you are looking for. Good luck. We have lots of good schools and it's a great area to live in, you'll love it. GGPTA

Thank you so much to all who attended the first Goose Green School carol service on Goose Green this evening. We had such a lovely time and now feel very Christmassy. We hope you enjoyed the singing and mulled wine and mince pies. We were very grateful for everyone's kind donations all of which will be used to buy resources for our school. Thank you to the Salvation Army Brass band for their lovely music and to the pop up Xmas tree shop by the leisure centre for their kind donation of a tree and lights. Merry Christmas from GGPTA
