  2. Hello, Firstly can anyone recommend an internet provider?? I have been looking at Talktalk, i live just off the Rye - peckham end. Secondly would you advise getting a Tv package along with the internet or a stand alone recorder box thing? I dont watch much TV but would like to record the occasional programme - all freeview nothing satellite. Thanks for any opinions. Em

  9. Can you get me a pair Grotty? and some of those ankle weights please?
  10. This will probably not help too much, but hopefully offer some reassurance that you are not alone. We have two children, 4yrs and 18months, both girls. Due to childrens sleep issues and my partners back problem, we have separate rooms. Currently have DD1 (just 4yrs) sleeping on a mat in the same room as my partner, she starts off in her own bed but moves in to his room as soon as I go downstairs at night. She sleeps happily without waking if she is there. DD2 in a cot in my room. She wakes alot and although I try to 'shhh' her a couple of times, she always ends up in the bed with me by 4am (or so). It sounds bonkers (just writing this), but it works for us (at the moment). We have realised we can all get some sleep with this arrangement. We hope it wont last forever. I hope you get some sleep soon. I can truely understand how bad sleep deprivation can be! Em x
  11. Just wondering if anyone has hd a children's party at the paint shop on Grove Vale, 'colour makes people happy'? If so what did you think of it? Anything you would do differently? Thanks, Em
  12. I think time to try and reduce the morning nap. I understand he must be shattered but I assume he is making up for the bad night sleep in the morning?!?! I have my own 14 month sleeping issues with my second daughter but recently realised that the morning nap was where she seemed to be making up the lost time (which was fine on the days when I was looking after her, and so could sit down, put my feet up - but not great when i was at work, hence trying to reduce the morning nap time). So don't get rid of the nap altogether but maybe make it no longer than 30 mins???? Anyway sure the EDF brain will come back with lots of suggestions for you..... Good luck (i keep telling myself and anyone who will listen, that it doesnt last forever........) Em xx
  13. my head has started itching just reading this post! my daughter had nits at Christmas (nice seeing all those relatives), and in the end i used a coimbination of: full marks - solution that you have to use once a week on everybody in the houses head (something to do with the lifecycle of the nits, they can reproduce after 7 days), as well as a nitty gritty comb http://www.nittygritty.co.uk/site/home.asp Then after another week i just used the comb with conditioner in the hair (to check they had all gone). This worked and we've been nit free ever since (although i do wash her hair with teatree oil shampoo and have put teatree oil in a conditioning spray that i use everyday). i think the only thing that stops them from coming back is keeping her hair up at nursery too. Hope this helps... P.s. i was amazed at how hard they are too see, they seem to be a mid brown colour (same as daughter's hair)
  14. I use old leggings (the ones with holes in the knees) and then cut them off with pinking shears! no need for sewing or any time spent. em
  15. Just wondering if anyone has travelled with ryanair with a baby seat and buggaboo bee chasis, and how it went? Also insurance, if the airline break the chasis, does anyone know of travel insurance thats actually pays out if this happens, or can anyone reccomend good travel insurance for families? Thanks brain of ED, Em
  16. Hi all, Just to announce the arrival of our daughter on Monday, at home, 8 pounds 9 ounces, no name yet, but would love to meet up early in the week ( without my 2.5 year old) or thursdays and Fridays for more active style meetings! Emily
  17. I haven't checked the spring babies for a bit and now realise I have missed all this exciting news! Congratulations all mums for the safe arrivals of your little bundles! Would be lovely to catch up soon and meet them all, although I am still at work and don't finish for another couple of weeks. But if there is a regular meet up on a Tuesday I will be able to come along (without toddler) and before baby arrives. Enjoy the adrenaline rush of the next few weeks, Em X
  18. Hi all, I will try to make the 18th but I will have to find a sitter for my toddler (am hoping OH will change his plans and help me out....), so can i let you nearer the time? I still feel as though i have a long way to go and my maternity leave doesn't start till end of March! Anyway looking forward to catching up soon, Emily X
  19. Good to put a few faces to names (but not as many as I would have liked).... Thanks for organising Emma! Hope to see you soon, Em (the other Emily) x
  20. Ha - I hadn't thought of that!
  21. it can be used either way i think... Have a look at the demo video here: hope that helps, em
  22. I am due my second girl in April and as my toddler is still in disposable nappies, i am a little appalled by having two in disposable nappies, and therefore considering using cloth ones. I don't have a tumble dryer (is that an issue?). Am having a girl, should I look for a particular brand that fits girls? Is there anywhere to go and have a look before committing to buying some? Also how many would be a sensible to buy? Any help from the wise forum brain would be much appreciated, Thanks, Em
  23. I really understand your frustration. I don't have any amazing tricks up my sleeve as i still have a picky 2 year old that needs cajoling to eat sometimes. But just wanted to say you're not alone! My daughter definatley eats better when she is sitting at a table with other children who are all eating well. She ate a wide variety of food at her childminders (where there was another little girl who was about a year older then her) and now shes at a nursery where (after 4 months of putting food infront of her) she has started eating a much wider selection of food than I give her(and at least trying food). Anyway what I am trying to say is that changing the scene a bit might help? Maybe eating with other children (who all eat well)? I also think they pick up on how tense you get a mealtimes and so anything you can do to reduce it and make it as fun as possible might help everyone to relax a bit? Sorry to ramble on, but in essence I think its a stage and like all of this business it will resolve and if you find a magic wand, can I borrow it after you?
  24. Hi all, Can my name be added to the evergrowing list of SpringBabies? I am due on 26th April with my second. Already have my hands pretty full with my 2 year old girl so I am not quite sure what I think I am doing having another one!! Would love to meet up with you all, I work part time mon to wed, and so am around (with toddler) on thurs and fri or can do weekend days. I can do Sunday 22nd..? Cheers, Emily
