  1. I think I gave up trying to work out how to salvage the NHS years ago - probably when trying to assess the 30th patient of the night in the middle of a corridor with ambulances lined up in a queue outside A&E. I think one of the main problems is that there is confusion over what services GPs should be providing. There has been a huge pressure to transfer the care of patients with chronic diseases - asthma, diabetes etc to the community. Many of these patients would have previously been seen in hospital clinics, but now GPs are expected to follow them up and have strict targets with financial penalities if not met. I don't think there is anything wrong with this in principle but this surely this must impact on their ability to provide urgent care.
  2. 4 of me according to that website but 5 on Facebook - now how does that work?! From googling my name seems to be very popular with American cheerleaders too.

Oh no he said, the > fifth diagnosis is by far the most useful. > > 5. Sit back, put fingers in pyramid, "there's > really nothing I can do for you..." For hospital doctors there's a 6th option too. 'Not sure what it is but if it hasn't settled in a couple of weeks I'd see your GP about it' (if you can get an appointment that is!)
  4. Not sure about this idea. Am a doctor (but not a GP) and have to take phone calls from patients when on call. I find it a nightmare to assess them over the phone and more often than not direct them to somewhere they can be seen. You can also spend 10 minutes on the phone to gather the same information that you'll get in 10 seconds face to face - ie is this patient sick or not. But then again GPs deal with a totally different range of problems to me and maybe this is more workable in their practice.
  5. What really gets me is when people say less when they should be using fewer as in 'Let's go to that bar there are fewer wankers/bastards/c**ts in there!'
  6. Oh my god those photos are awful! She looks like a very serious businesswoman with her tits falling out.

  8. I told my boyfriend I was off on a trip to Primark Peckham. He texted back saying he wanted some socks- I misread his text and bought him 6 packs instead of 6 pairs! I can't believe I thought he needed 36 new pairs!! Haven't stopped giggling about this since so had to share it and wondering whether anyone else has done anything similar. Maybe I should try to flog them on here . . . .
  9. 'Daniel Mead' anyday . . . . . Tucker from Grange Hill - you must be joking!!
  10. I walk past the City Hall one everyday and it looks a bit 'chainish' but maybe that's because it's next to a Yo sushi, subway and starbucks. . . . . but then again grab a coffee most mornings at starbucks so shouldn't moan too much about chains!! Ah the hypocrisy.
  11. I had attempted fraud committed on my visa card just the other day - someone tried to withdraw ?21 in cash in the philippines - hardly worth the effort!! Fortunately was picked up by Barclays (I just about forgive them for blocking my card when I was overseas). Can't remember buying any petrol though - must be on of those dodgy internet sites
  12. Does sound worryingly like the Mirash to me - would be devastated to lose it -in there at least once a week. Big loss to ED I suppose may have to venture into one of the more trendy curry houses.
  13. Went there for friend's birthday couple of weeks ago- had private room upstairs for 25 and service and food were fine. But then again it was the day when we beat Australia. . . . that may be clouding my memory!
