  1. Did you miss out on take that tickets then 'Nette?
  2. Back to a more lighthearted subject than the breast feeding . . . Am wondering how much longer I'll be able to enjoy the luxury of a morning and a post lunchtime nap. Miss JB is nearly 9 months and currently sleeps for about an hour around 9 am and then for an hour to an hour and a half around 1pm. She wakes at about 6.15 am and is exhausted by 9am and so the thought of her staying up till lunchtime seems.. . . Umm painful! When did your little one drop their morning nap? Did they do it by themselves or did it require some coercion ie by gradually reducing the length of the nap.
  3. One of my Nct group lives on a road around there and she has 3 runs if stairs up to her front door. I think she did find it very hard in the early days -an additional barrier to leaving the house. She used to keep her pram in her car at the foot of the steps. I suppose you just need to adapt and have a system which includes a light pram and making sure you always have someone else to hand when you've done a large shop.
  4. I've just restarted weight watchers too but am not convinced about the new pro points plan - I seem to be able to eat loads and still have points left over . . . . No weight loss either after week 1 (had consistent weight loss on the old plan). Will keep going though
  5. We had ours a couple of weeks ago and it was quite straightforward. They checked her height and weight, development (ie can she sit up, pass a toy, use a pincer grip). They examined her hips and assessed whether her eye movement was coordinated. They checked whether she was up to date with vaccinations and hearing screening and asked questions about feeding and sleeping. I think that was everything.
  6. I hadn't heard of it either - what happens at a whippersnappers class?
  7. My sister met her husband on a dodgy ski holiday in Andorra.. . I could ask her!
  8. Agree they should have asked beforehand but essentially neighbours do have rights of access to complete repairs. We're in a similar situation - our landlord needs to do some repair work to our external wall but our next door neighbour is kicking up a stink about it as scaffolding will need to go in her garden. It's going through solicitors etc which is so pointless as the end result is going to be that the work has to be done.
  9. So much for 3 per bed - there were 14 visitors around the bed across from me at one point!
  10. What about the antenatal ward? . . The worst part of my labour was being by myself in early labour on the antenatal ward (whilst being induced). I can honestly say it was the most miserable night of my life! In a way I was fortunate that I spent a night in high dependency afterwards as it meant that mr jb could stay with me. Am glad to hear that things are improving as was seriously thinking about switching to at thomas' if as and when number 2 arrives.
  11. My mum still hides food from us when we go down to stay . . I'm 33 and my sister is 36!
  12. Gubodge I've met checkmeout and she is not an overly precious mother at all. I haven't been to mother goose but one of my Nct friends visited the nursery last week and said exactly the same thing.
  13. Brown coffee - if you can get in try fawsley hall in Northamptonshire - gorgeous relaxed place with lovely spa or the spread eagle in midhurst west Sussex. Love jollybaby
  14. Would you consider dropping the 11pm dream feed instead? Miss jb dropped this feed first by herself. By 8 weeks or so she was Going from 7pm until 2 or 3 am and this sleep got gradually longer over the next few months. None of my nct buddies dream fed either and all of their babies followed a similar pattern. I suppose it may depend on whether you are a late or early to bed type of person. I'm usually in bed by 10 and so wasn't keen on waiting up to feed my daughter. The 3 or 4am feed didn't really bother me as I'd already had a good few hours by then.
  15. Nothing worked for me either . . . I ate a whole pineapple and had awful wind but no sign of labour! It's easy to spend so much money on this too. I had 2 sessions if acupuncture and the acupuncturist was keen to do a couple more. The one thing I wish I had done though was to be more mobile at the end of my pregnancy .. I ignored that bit of my antenatal class, spent a lot of time lazing around and ended up with an OP baby (back to back).
  16. I've been wearing special feeding unDerwired bras from about week 2 onwards. Am not sure what makes them special as they seem much like a normal bra to me (apart from the clips of course!) - no problems whatsoever. So I'd be tempted to dig out the sexy lingerie again!
  17. Hastings ... Still a shit hole but slowly improving. The old town is quite pleasant to walk around now and the fishing shed area is being revamped. They keep promising it will be the next Brighton but that's unlikely to be so unless the rail link is massively improved.
  18. "Yes I'll have a bag please..."
  19. I think you'll find that the rye cafe is guilty of this culinary crime too. Should I present them the recipe too?
  20. The virus is present within the fluid in the spots so not totally unreasonable to say it is transmissible via the skin. Though agree that if baby is in sling chances of him infecting anyone via this route are minimal. If it was me I'd be happy to take my baby out for walks but would avoid crowded areas - coffee shops, buses etc - lots of pregnant women in this area! And as for the advice that the GP gave. It is sometimes better to give simple clear advice ie stay at home, so there is less scope for confusion.
  21. Following an incident when I was thrown off a bus when 8 months pregnant - I complained to tfl. Was pleased to receive a lengthy letter of apology.
  22. Kate if it's any consolation - from chats with my nct group none of our babies sleep for 2 hours after lunch( our babies are 7 months). Miss jb sleeps for about an hour- she used to do 40 mins. I'm hoping this will gradually lengthen with time.
