  1. I emailed Councillor Maggie Browning last week, who responded by saying she would be "seeking clarity from officers on how the road closure will work in practice and what times of day it will be in place". In terms of the consultation with residents, she also said: "The comments on the website were from me as a local councillor and I was referring to the need to inform the school, school governors and residents of these plans before they are put in place. I will be checking this has been done" I shall follow-up again with her now, but I would urge anybody else to write to her too Rockets Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Was there any update on this - are the council > still going ahead with one permanent and one > moveable barrier on Goodrich road and can we > expect to see these go in in a matter of days? > > To Jacqui5254's point - these plans seem a bit > odd. 2. Anyone else finding that the post in East Dulwich continues to get worse ? I haven't had a delivery since Thursday, and still waiting for something which was posted in Manchester on the 2nd June
  3. We have to do all we can to stop this. They?ve already amended the original plans once, and say above that they are ?currently in talks with the school?, so hopefully there?s something we can do. Please please do write to the people named above. Does anybody here know anyone at the school who could be involved ? 4. The initial plan was for 2 permanent barriers. But, per the letter above, it's already been adjusted to become 1 permanent barrier, and 1 re-moveable. This is a more recent development, so isn't reflected in that original plan. The rationale, according to the councillor, is to 'improve the safety of schoolchildren', allowing them to walk/cycle to school. But, surely that can be achieved with 2 removable barriers, and without having to close the roads completely during evenings and weekends, when there are no children there ?? intexasatthe moment Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'm not firing on all cylinders today ,I've looked > at the plan and I can't work out which barrier > will be permanent .Can someone assist me ?
  5. If the intent is to improve safety for children, and make them more confident to walk or cycle to school, surely it only makes sense to implement the closure during those school hours. Why close one end permanently, and during weekends and evenings when the school isn't even open ?
  6. Thanks for this. So there would be a removable barrier at one end ? And then what at the other ?
  7. I've written to Southwark Council today to complain. I live on Upland Road, and it's shocking to me that they're proposing to implement something like this without making any attempt to inform, let alone consult local residents. tas Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I wonder why Southwark have gone for the full > closure rather than a school street, as they have > for other schools in the borough. 8. Totally agreed. A friend in North London sent a parcel to me and to a friend in West Norwood last Wednesday (First Class). The parcel was delivered to my friend in Norwood the next day, yet mine is still to arrive nearly a week later. I'm obviously very aware of all of the atmospheric reasons why Royal Mail might struggle at the moment, but my point is that it seems to be affecting this area far more so than anywhere else. lindylou Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I just don't get this. 9. But what about the additional through-traffic, which was previously going across Goodrich Road, and which will now be forced to go down either of these 2 roads unnecessarily ? tas Wrote: > > You will realise then that Upland Road and > Dunstans Road run either side of Goodrich School, > and will not be affected by this closure. 10. Am I right in thinking that this is currently just a proposal, rather than something definitely being implemented ? Even the councillor?s own comments on the proposal suggest that they don?t think it will be effective.
  11. Otto2 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > he thought that about 30% of > staff is out either with Covid or isolating. This is totally ridiculous. How can that possibly be the case at this stage ?!?
  12. My experience is that the post is significantly WORSE now than it was during the lockdown, which really makes no sense ?
  13. The post in ED seems to be noticeably worse than in surrounding areas. I had a friend in Pimlico send a package both to me, and to a friend in West Norwood at the same time on Weds (First Class). The West Norwood package arrived promptly yesterday. The post has just come here, and there's still no sign of mine (just something from Thames Water). I've had packages sent to me from Liverpool and from Manchester last Tuesday (26th May), neither of which have arrived over 10 days later. What can we do about this ???
