Been a while since the last post in this thread but I started taking the train from Peckham Rye to London Bridge this week and the trains seem to have been moderately delayed most of the time. Is this usual for this time of year? One of the reasons given was the 'wrong conditions' on the tracks. I'm thinking of switching to the bus instead but are they any better at the moment? I know there are works on Borough High St.

I heard the female announcer say '63 to Forest Hill' only once so wasn't sure if I had heard correctly. Tried to see if the bus made the right turn into Wood Vale but am pretty sure it did it's usual U-turn back round to the stop by the cemetary. I haven't taken my usual commute this week so cannot say whether it has been busier except for today when it went zooming pass The Gardens without stopping (and there was quite a crowd waiting too). This was around 8am.

Don't forget cad and had (although same thing).

I'm pretty sure I was once secret handshaked at work when being introduced to a newcomer. A weird experience. Now I come to think of it, maybe one of his fingers was just cramping.

Peckham Rye, Forest Hill Road and environs street audit

BAD FORM. I second this. It's not been so bad lately but there was a time when it was a permanent feature of this stretch of road, including at the bus shelter opposite FHT so you have to skip just in time to avoid it as you get off the bus. Ironically, there is a dog sign painted on the ground on the corner of Marmora Rd. -
It's terrible during the day too. The one and only time I drove to Ikea from here I used AA route planner which took me through Streatham High street. The road markings seem to be badly laid out as well; the lanes don't seem to link up on either sides of pedestrian crossings. You'd drive through a crossing and find yourself straddling two lanes. The return drive I went via Knights Hill and it seemed to be a better route although it was very slow too.

I can't be a twin unless my parents hid the wrong birth certificate...

I have to echo that. My sister went in group of about 6 and they were kindly warned by some other tourists to watch their bags as a bunch of lads nearby appeared to be scoping them out. Her trip passed without incident in the end and they had a great time but just be aware of your surroundings, more so than in other tourist cities from what I have heard.

I don't think either of us said the noise bothered us. I have only been to Peckham Library a handful of times and it was an observation I made on the first occasion which I recalled due to GSmith's post. It is a very striking building and the noise doesn't deter me from using it. If I were to use a library Peckham would not be inconvenient to me as it is a place I pass by more often than the ones in Dulwich. Besides, on the few times I have been to Dulwich library, it wasn't one of the quietest in Southwark either (apart from the reference library, obviously). Probably also due to the size and acoustics of the place. On another note, when I was in my teens, being a bit of a bookworm, I loved traipsing around Southwark to visit it's libraries. -

gerritsmith Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Why is the award winning Peckham library so noisy? I have always thought this too! Not that it is a problem to me - I haven't set foot in it for a few years now. Maybe it is due to its size and, can't quite remember, but are there a good few computers in there? -

The Carnival Is Over, Summer Is No More....

It's the short days and long nights I don't like. It just feels wrong to struggle out of bed in the dark and commute to work when the sun is still rising. -
I have noticed a Chinese store on the row of shops on Peckham Rye (just south of the new Tescos). It looks quite small though so not sure they would stock thick soy but just thought I would highlight its existent for those who might be interested.

63 Bus route extension to Honor Oak Park Station
Peckwich replied to Laurie Eggleston's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
TJ, thank you for responding to my questions. I read Laurie's first post when she first, erm, posted it so somewhere along the way I missed her original point. I am all for it if it makes it easier for those who need to get from FHT to HOP. I was merely pondering what the knock on effect (if any) would be to those further down the route if there were more passengers to pick up northbound but if the emphasis is on getting people to and from FHT and HOP and not from HOP to the stops betweeb E&C and KC then I guess it is a moot point. -
63 Bus route extension to Honor Oak Park Station
Peckwich replied to Laurie Eggleston's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have a couple of questions: 1. I would like to know how these 4 extra buses would be distributed on the timetable. On some mornings the bus can get full as early on in the route as The Gardens. I used to live further along the route in Peckham. Needless to say it was impossible to get on the 63 bus half of the time. I used to think that if I walked back a few stops I would have a better chance of getting on but now having moved to ED and taken the bus from here I realise it wouldn't have made a difference most mornings. 2. Unless I am missing the obvious, I still don't understand the idea of the bus terminating at Honor Oak Park Station then looping round Brockley Rise to come back to station at the Forest Hill Tavern. That appears to mean there would be no northbound service from Honor Oak Park to FHT (I think someone else has pointed this out as well). -

I've been having a similiar problem with 2 new wisdom teeth for the past couple of months but am hoping that they won't need to come out(I already have one wisdom tooth which caused me only minimal pain when it arrived). They're not too painful today actually but I do still have the problem of not being able to open my mouth wide enough to eat. Quite embarassing really, I imagine I look like I am stuffing food into my mouth in a rather uncouth way. It's bad when I'm brushing my teeth as I have to stretch and bear with the pain to reach back in there. My dental hygienist told me the pain is mostly due to food getting stuck and causing the gums to become inflamed so I make sure to clean really well. I've also been grinding my teeth a lot lately and I think this is due to the 2 new teeth as it seems to be on that one side(or it could be stress caused by the state of the economy). Does give me a jaw and headache as well.

Not so much feel good films but these always make me laugh out loud: Tremors Life of Brian The 'Burbs - this film is like a thread in the East Dulwich Forum that has got out of hand.
