Hi Does anyone know of any holiday clubs doing full days the W/B 17th August? Artistic are doing half days, nimble arts finish the week before, I've emailed gumboots but any other suggestions gratefully received! BTW I have three girls so probably not football based 😉

'Charter East Dulwich' Consultation - call for unity
JDR replied to Trine Adams's topic in The Family Room Discussion
It is interesting to note that Harris Girls has its entry point off its own site! They state on their website "girls? proximity to the school between the main entrance to the student?s home and the road junction of Shelbury Road and Colyton Road, using straight-line, computer calculated measurements" So in theory an offsite admission point is permissible if the results of the consultation call for it. Admittedly if I lived on Melbourne Grove I wouldn't want everyone coming from that side as its a very congested road now! Though I guess it could just be used for measurement purposes and not as a main entrance? Comment added to state I've gone off the original thread point so I'll stop now 😕 -
'Charter East Dulwich' Consultation - call for unity
JDR replied to Trine Adams's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I am aware of two schools locally who have directly emailed parents pretty much with instructions on how to comment. Whilst it is great people are encouraged to engage and participate there seems to be some nuances to what has been said or suggesting that they could serve their own school best by feeding back certain points. I appreciate we are all naturally nuanced but a broad engagement and thinking about the community as a whole would be better. It seems it is starting to become devisive which I'm sure nobody would wish for. -
Underhill Road CLOSURE 11 May - 6 July Thames Water works
JDR replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
More accurate dates yet? -
We moved here just over 4 years ago from Peckham (5 mins from station). It helps my husband cycles and I am required to drive for work but we enjoy the walk to either the 363/63 dependant on destination or often for nights out walk to Peckham. Children laughably said when we moved here that we'd moved to the "countryside". We hadn't looked closely t bus options before we moved but realised later we're in a sweet spot. 5 mins to 363,63,176,185. 10 mins to 12

Staff turnover at St Johns and St Clements
JDR replied to 1morecupofcoffee's topic in The Family Room Discussion
TBH, there's been very little change of staff since we arrived. 3 NQT's that year, 1 since. Very stable staffing in our time ( our fourth year) miss Bosman a possible but she's had more than one career so maybe not as long as you'd think at StJ&StC -
Are you glad you did music lessons as a kid?
JDR replied to nunheadmum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I did piano from 9/10. Hated it for years, rubbish at practicing and stayed because my mum made me. Fast forward (via very slow progression) to 15 years of age started to love it. Stopped and recently restarted playing. Good grounding as a child gives me a great start. Now just need to find time to practice -
Feedback wanted on primary school waiting lists - namely St J&Cs
JDR replied to Susan's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We had this a few years ago for St Johns and lived approx 200-300 metres away. We actually ended up at Bellenden for 2years and requested we were kept on the list. We transferred in in year 2 and she was happy there within a week. We now have 3 children there and are very happy -

Grove tavern to reopen. Fact or fiction.
JDR replied to Chrishesketh's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
My in laws had their wedding reception there in the late 60's/early 70's. Allegedly the best pub/carvery in South London! They moved to Sunderland, we moved to Underhill Road! Small world. Wish it could be returned to that -
The people running it are from Fusion. Several years ago I had a problem with the pool at Peckham. I complained long and hard enough to be called by the women in charge of their contract. I can't find her name annoyingly, but she was really open to discussion and suggestion and more than happy to take issues back to them ( most of my suggestions were actioned within 2 weeks!) in my head her name is Tara Quinn but I could be wrong and her name isn't in my address book anymore

I might be repeating old news but not trawling the whole thread.... Tried out Miss Tapas on Choumert Road. Lovely food, authentic tapas, staff friendly and knowledgable

I received an email today for the patient participation group to be held on April 1st at 6pm.

I haven't met this guy but hope he doesn't put people off being pleasant to others in need. I occasionally buy sandwiches for obviously homeless folk who sit outside Aldi in Catford as I often pick up my shopping. I only do it for those that are pleasant though. I never used to, but watching one guy struggling with his bags of medication he'd just collected made me, he told me what he needed was water to take his tablets with.... Fingers crossed the one you've talked about will move on soon

Unfortunately I have extensive experience recently of staff. I meet two decent locums, one who was awful. Permanent staff, amazing, but so hard to see. More amazing they stay. Let's hold they do after the terrible publicity. I told one of them after the CQC assessment that I held the owners responsible, not them. The Gupta's should be truly ashamed

JDR replied to EastDulwichRose's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yes, do it! We did,, no evidence to support separate or non vaccination -
Mad van driver by ED station.
JDR replied to Concerned motorist's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yikes, that's frightening! The only time anything similar happened to me I was turning on to a street with a local (open) police station on it and stopped outside. You sound like you were very canny about how to lose him. Well done, horrible that people get so het up about such minor things. -
James Barber if you do, please report positives as well. The nurse Marjorie Simpson and Dr Prabakaran deserve positive mention. Both professional and go above and beyond the required level. Especially Dr Prabakaran. I have had so many health issues ( one problem) and absolutely brilliant. Thorough, patient, understanding and phones when she says she will, even if that means she'd phones at 9.45 pm as has happened previously. Dedicated is an understatement. Shame the owners don't share her work ethic!

Also done, I had told the practice manager a while ago I would complain. Some of the DR's are great. Dr Prabakaran deserves articulate mention but virtually impossible to see. Very saad, Dr Gupta Senior I would imagine didn't realise what his sons would do to his practice and patient care when they took over from him. I remember when they were all in the practice. At least then you could complain to the organ grinder. Now they hide behind practice managers and large houses. Every reason why private companies shouldn't be involved in provision of health care.

The consultations I've come across were generally by accident, promoted via social media by totally non council related interested parties. I'd like to know how Southwark identify and communicate with groups "with vested interest" or by location? The Peckham Rye station original consultation was a farce. Only stopped because hundreds turned up to the council meeting and residents put together a very short notice deputation ( actually very complex and designed to make you not bother, 6 people need to nominate someone to represent them and be present). The system seems to be designed by council officials for council officials. Flawed doesn't cover it, it certainly doesn't seem to have residents, both residential and business, at its heart. More what the councillors think they can get away with

My children attend the school and I agree with several comments on both sides. Unfortunately any person viewing these images is going to keep it well hidden and we were always going to feel our trust had been violated. As it happens, along with many others I found Father Charles personable and charming when I met him. Obviously his alleged crime is one aspect of his life and in others friends report he was hugely helpful and highly regarded. Obviously we are all trying to marry up these conflicted feelings. I agree that the church handled this badly, which they seem to be reflecting on. However, if you feel strongly I guess take up the offer of giving feedback to the diocese and/or police about information. I know I have spoken to school and they had their hands tied figuratively by the police and diocese regarding disclosure of information, again due to the fact the due process was not completed making it very tricky. I only hope the congregation and community at large get a new vicar in whom they can trust. Whoever takes that post will have some tough times ahead.

Very sad to see you go! You were a lovely addition to Lordship Lane
