Yes, I also had a Sunday delivery of outstanding packages from early December. The bad press finally seems to have spurred them into action, though being on the cynical side of me thinks this is probably a one off rather than a return to something approaching a normal service.

Adding my voice to this thread. Sick and tired of ordering things that just don't arrive - I've got close to ?100 worth of items which have failed to materialise. Three Xmas cards arrived yesterday! I've written to Helen Hayes and copied it to the CEO of Royal Mail (it is not Stuart Simpson as mentioned above but Simone Thompson - [email protected]). I actually got a reply from a minion this morning so we'll see what happens!

Couldn?t agree more dresseaves. Jane (and probably you!) has been looking after our various cats for years, and goes above and beyond. We are devastated for her.

A real shame, it was one of the best restaurants on the Lane. The food was excellent and the staff just lovely. Anyone know if Maria?s Tapas is re-opening? I fear for its tiny space.

Thank you Cyclemonkey. There are a few ?non-essential shops open on the lane which obviously need support and as long as people behave sensibly I just don?t see the problem. No one is forcing anyone to stand in a queue for ice cream.

Hello Poppy Your story really resonates with me as we had exactly the same problem with a neighbouraing Bengal as you are experiencing currently. We had to have our aged cats microchipped and installed a new catflap to stop the Bengal coming into the house (which he did frequently, often stealing packets of cat treats which he'd take back home with him!). Our 3-legged tabby simply stopped going outside after a while as he became terrified of being pounced on. We met the cat's owner, and I did explain that he was causing problems with our two but really, what can you do? The cat was neutered and well looked after and loved, but he was simply behaving like a Bengal. It wasn't fair to expect his owner to keep him shut in the house all day - he had as much right to be out and about as our two. He wasn't at all violent with me or my husband, in fact he was very friendly, but it got to the stage where we bought one of those massive water pistols and used to spray it at him whenever he came into the garden which goes against all my cat loving instincts but we had to try and protect our cats. It didn't really work! I'd like to say there's a solution but I'm afraid the only thing that thankfully changed our situation was that our neighbour moved, taking her beloved stripey warrior with her! I have to say it was a huge relief and our tabby is now enjoying the garden again. I wish you luck and hope a solution presents itself.

We had our chrome wing mirror covers nicked from our Mini a few weeks agao. Car was outside the house, I think it happened in the middle of the night.

danrees - the Sky box warrenty thing is a scam. The people who call you are not from Sky but from some dodgy company trying to make you feel paranoid about your Sky box and how much it would cost you if it broke down and had to be repaired/replaced. They got me a couple of years ago and I foolishly signed up (the thought of being without my beloved box sent me into paroxisms of fear!) I cancelled the agreement within 14 days and got my money back, but if they called again I'd give them short shrift.

We did get our front door egged a few years ago ('twere a bugger to get off). Not really fair as we were out celebrating my birthday!

Has anyone used Spice Republic recently? We used to use them a lot as they had lots of tasty veggie quorn type things, but the last one we had was really quite poor so we haven't bothered since. Have tried Omrith and it's very good although they did manage to give us the wrong delivery on two occassions - I always check it now before they leave. Have recently started using Jaflong which we have been impressed with. I judge a lot of take-outs on the quality of their dhal and Jaflong's is tip top!

I was with hogboy last night and have to concur that our Si Mangia experience was not good. We'd tried to go on a sunny Thursday a month or so ago but couldn't get a table so I was really looking forward to what I thought would be an Italian treat (have tried Locale and wasn't too impressed with that, although it was within the first week of opening when there were teething problems. There shouldn't have been IMO, but that's another matter). Anyway, we waited an age just to order last night. The starters eventually arrived and were fine but the main course (after another long wait which doesn't bode well for a pizza) was poor - freah pasta with a red pesto sauce which was much too salty and generally uninspird. Felt very sorry for the waiter who was new and didn't really know how to deal with an upset hoggy and friend. The manager came out as well and was somewhat apologetic and yes, they did knock the price of the pizzas off the bill. Such a shame as I've read so many good things about this restaurant on here and think ED could benefit from a decent Italian. It'll be back to the Gowlett for pizza now....
