  1. There were a lot of these posh kids running around the pubs of Lordship Lane before the lockdown, hopefully once its over these children will be fed and entertained at home in the future, or the parents fork out for a babysitter rather than rely on random drinkers to chaperone their children as they try and play hide and seek in the disabled toilets. I have a theory that the posher the name, the louder they are exclaimed across a busy pub so everyone who doesnt care has to hear, as a weird sort of status thing The proliferation of these ludicrous names has been noted in the area, whereas once the standard posh name for a boy was 'Oscar' or 'Rupert', now you hear all sorts of silly stuff. I wouldnt be too worried about them getting bullied at school, those things are stamped out rather quickly in the fee paying schools in the Dulwich area.
  2. Does anyone know if Sainsburys are selling fireworks at the moment? I'd like to have a big display tonight to celebrate VE Day, since we cannot celebrate in person/clos proximity.
  3. Also, does anyone know where to buy fireworks? I'd like to set some off tonight in celebration, but havent got hold of any yet.
  4. Hello fellow ED'ers, happy VE Day! I was wondering if there were any VE day street parties planned today? Naturally, in these current times, responsible socially distanced ones. I have a large coolbox with plenty of British ales, gin & tonics, and other fancy treats from M&S that i'd love to share around the community. Unfortunately my close neighbours in my street seem to have all fled to second homes or B&B's in the countryside to sit out the pandemic, so if anyone is having a bit of a knees up this afternoon, please post here and i will come and join to celebrate a very important and historic day.
  5. I see why buses have been made free to minimise contact with drivers, but it was quite the sight to see buses driving down (actually struggling down now parking legislation has now been abandoned) Rye Lane with buses full again, with passengers clearly not going to/from work, just taking advantage of the free ride. No doubt traces of Coronavirus on many of the surfaces and handles of the vehicle. Hardly a good idea when trying to contain a global pandemic killer virus.
  6. I have got quite used to the lockdown as working from home in my admittedly grand property is quite nice, as is drinking beers in the garden in the evening out in the sunshine. I have no real desire to go back to the office, but i fear i may have little choice in the matter when im on a 6 figure salary, with people to manage and more money to be made for my company. Certain elements of the lockdown have been rather simple to circumvent anyway, but i would be alarmed if there were more folk in the queue for M&S or the independent shops of Lordship Lane. All in all, its a tough one to call. Could perhaps people just not use more common sense? I.E if you are over around 60 and/or have underlying health conditions, it may be best to stay inside for a couple more months? It seems a little harsh on the young to be cooped up lest they accidentally breath near and transmit the virus to someone who knows only full well they are very vulnerable to suffering the worst effects.
  7. I always do my washing around 6am, whilst im getting ready for work, so it can dry during the day. If anyone complained about me doing something natural like that in my own home, id be very unimpressed. Saying that, the only fair thing to do would be to retaliate by blasting some music against the wall you share, then you are even.

I only tend to play my music really loud on weekends though, the neighbours have learned to put up with it and not to bother trying to poke their oar in.
  9. Luckily Sainsburys has been well stocked with crates of beer, which is very important during this lockdown period. Im not sure why people are so keen to buy stuff like eggs to do menial tasks such as baking- you'd have much more fun at home boozing and playing tunes nice and loud.
  10. I think the bricks will start to look normal soon, has anyone been working on the site since this corona thing all kicked off? its clearly not finished yet, so people should just relax before writing the whole project off. I'd also like it if that Chinese place beside it opened again soon, i fancy a decent bit of Choi Mein and Chop Suey.

Growing and smoking weed is a victimless 'crime'. I dont personally indulge as i prefer other stimulants for my dinner parties, but there is no harm in smoking a plant that grows freely in the ground.

I was in Peckham the other day on Rye Lane, and of course there was loads of people around, but apart from the usual rampant lack of manners, arguments and general not giving a damn attitude (and total abandonment of traffic/parking laws), what struck me was the lack of gangs of teenagers hanging around outside McDonalds causing trouble and the lingering threat of violence and vile language. This was a good thing, and must be a huge relief for the Met Police.
  13. As long as the music was decent dance music, like trance or techno, i wouldnt mind if tunes were booming nearby. Its when you get the vulgar and offensive rap, trap or grime music that action needs to be taken, i would call the police and if they are not taking it seriously, drop in the fact that you 'might' have seen the person who's house the music is coming from with a weapon or something, theyll certainly deal with it then.
  14. Busting a puff grow is hardly a good enough excuse to wake up probably hundreds of people. I had a big party recently, before the lockdown i might add, and my neighbours called the Police because of a few people laughing and chatting in my garden at 4am. So its okay for the Police to wake everyone up at that time of the day, but not for me when im having a party on private property?
  15. I heard the helicopter hovering overhead to, terrible racket- i have made a formal complaint to the Met Police, these things should not be flying above residential areas such as ours at that time of the night
  16. Maybe the Covid 19 restrictions preventing folk from visiting their second homes down Brighton way/Berkshire has caused these noises, mixing with the hoi polloi for this long is rather stressful.

Not at all bothered. Well Palmerston pub, > your benches might be fixed to the ground but > there's no excuse. Enjoy your fine. Reporting you. Who are you reporting a currently defunct business to? What fine do you reckon they'll get? Earlier today i was quite shocked to see a fellow human being leaning against a railing. I've had enough and i am calling the council to have the railing removed and whoever put it there hopefully fined.
