  1. Didn't spot that.. thank you so much, RD. Will give them a try (and hopefully give Kettering a miss)
  2. Hello Forum - excuse the lounge intrusion. Has anyone here had any experience of VELFAC? It's the sister company of Velux - only they do doors and regular windows instead of rooflights. The product looks quite suitable for what we're doing, but we're not relishing a trip to their showroom in Kettering to find out more - and don't know anyone who's tried them so have no direct recommendations. If anyone knows anything, that would be a great help!
  3. It's like 'Rattle and Hum' never happened. Nothing good ever came from band-produced rockumentary efforts.
  4. I might be wrong but I think they plan to use the facilities out of school hours/term time.
  5. Yes yes yes to a new school but no no no to the size of this one. Four storeys high... mmm that'll look lovely next to the Victorian terraces and what a nice view for them (I don't live in one of them by the way). Why can't we just have a school the size (area and pupils) thats in keeping with the area and that works with the community. I don't think that many people living nearby would want their kids to go to a school where they'll be crammed in with little outside space.
  6. This new school for 950 boys will no doubt have a negative impact on the surrounding area, not only Piermont Green but the park, the streets, the traffic, parking..... I've posted under Harris Academy thread with more info.
  7. Not so sure about the girls school.. I've seen the plans for the boys' school and they're really worrying. The building they propose is 4 storeys high and comes right up to the boundaries on most sides, with little outside space. I personally think it will be a shame to lose the lovely Victorian building that is already there but even if they do have to build a new one, the one they propose is really too big and 950 pupils is just too many. Please have a look at www,edge-campaign.co.uk, it's all there. There is a meeting this Sunday 24 June at Upper Hall, Harris Girls' Academy, Homestall Road at 4.30 to 6pm. PLEASE ATTEND TO LEND YOUR SUPPORT.
  8. Well spotted, Keef. Bravo!
  9. .
  10. dluehosh - be interested to know what it's like if your parents do stay there
  11. Please add two to the list. We'd love to go. I think that was one the best GDs - really warmed to the developer and his wife. Good for them.
