  1. Interesting, because I am finding it next to impossible to get an appointment at Tessa Jowell.

Symbiont brings together Sculptures, Paintings and Prints from artist couple Brigid Vidler and Joel Ely, who live in East Dulwich. Symbiosis is the interaction between two organisms living in close physical association, typically, though not exclusively to the advantage of both. A state of symbiosis can have both positive and negative associations. The work layers imagery, juxtaposing competing narratives to explore ideas of interconnectivity and communication. Using humour the work draws on traditions of still life, figurative art and the surreal. Come join us at the Private View on Thursday 6th June 6-8pm. Jeannie Avent Gallery 14 North Cross Rd London SE22 9EU Private View Thursday 6th July, 6-8pm 7-16th July Wed - Sun 10-6pm
  4. My sister and a close friend had bad teenage acne. They both got prescribed with roaccutane (which unfortunately made my sister vomit). Both of them opted to go on a strict no dairy diet and though it took a while it did wonders for their skin. Good luck, your kid is fortunate that you are taking it seriously.
  5. Hello, I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for mole screening? I grew up in Australia, I have Irish heritage (and complexion) and have spent most of my life watching my parents have various bits burnt off or cut out. Luckily, I have always worn sunblock but I think that my skin is a bit damaged. I went to a GP 2 years ago and they said that they wouldn't look at moles unless they were 5mm in size. I appreciate that the NHS is overstretched so I might need to go elsewhere for an inspection... Can anyone recommend somewhere/someone? I had a google and could only come up with private clinics that charge 250 pounds for an initial consultation. Is this normal? Thanks for your recommendations, Keep well, Brigid
  6. Thanks to everyone for all your kind words. I just finished a commission today in a garden in Peckham. It is a variation on a garage door I painted last summer. Enjoy the sun!
  7. Does anyone use Now broadband on East Dulwich Road. I am sick of paying through the nose for Virgin and having crap internet.
  8. It was a pleasure to paint. I was really touched by Twinhunters idea. What a wonderful carer.

  15. And the winner is Kesc. Thanks to everyone who entered. Stay warm! Hello ED Neighbours and Cat lovers (or lovers of cat lovers) I am an artist who lives in ED. I had some prints (Cat Curl and Cat Groom) in a show at Jeannie Avent Gallery in the lead up to Christmas but it was shutdown with Tier 4. I thought it would be nice to do a give-away on the Forum in time for Valentine's Day. Also, to spread a little joy during these long dark days. Cat Curl is a lino print on cotton paper with hand-painted gold details. Each one is slightly different. (15 x 15cm with mount) Reply to this message in this thread to go into the draw. I will draw it on the 10th of February and deliver it to you taking into consideration social distancing on my daily walk. (I am hoping that you are a local if you are using the forum). See the picture of the print attached. I'm also attaching a photo of the other prints that I have for sale. Send me an email if you are interested in purchasing one. I can send you a high res image. The prints are 25 unframed and 35 Framed. All transactions are done through Paypal. bidvid@gmail.com or you can contact me through Instagram bid_vid
  16. IT is not a long term solution but if you need to ease the pain a little lie on your back, with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Your feet need to be a little wider than your hip width and then let your knees fall together. (I hope I have explained that alright). It releases the lower back a bit and stops those electricity pains you can sometimes get when you lie down initially. Good luck :)
  17. It is really grim. I'm an artist and I work making props and doing installations for companies. I am not picky about work but because most of my experience is practical rather than administrative there is very little work about. I have been out of work since the end of March. I had a couple of interviews but between interviewing and a follow up the job disappeared because the companies' situations were precarious. I guess all you need to do is apply, apply, apply. GOOD LUCK! I took a big leap of faith and am putting on an art show currently at Jeannie Avent Gallery (till the 14th). It has been nice to see people out and about in East Dulwich and appreciating being able to go into Art Galleries again. Hopefully, I'll sell some work too!
  18. Dear Neighbours, I am having an exhibition at Jeannie Avent Gallery (3-14th July) and to celebrate I am giving away the first edition of 2 Lino prints. To register to go in the running visit my Instagram biddy_illustration. This is one of the works, it is called "Self Preservation," and was made in response to lockdown. I am trying to spread a little love and hopefully joy in these somewhat difficult times. Cheers, Brigid

  20. Sorry It is very late but they were open this morning.
  21. HI Wee Quinnie, I am in a similar situation. I've had asthma since I was a kid. While I have for the most part grown out of it, I still do occasionally get flare ups. Luckily I know my triggers (changes of seasons....usually linked to hay fever) and getting sick. It is frustrating feeling strong and wanting to help, but being limited by this. Keep yourself safe! By looking after yourself you won't end up (touch wood) needing medical help, thus HELPING!. I am looking for work that I can do remotely, either on the phone or internet and will post it here if I get any leads. Stay well.
