Hairstylist for 11 year old girl? (Today)
gillianthomson replied to radnrach's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We walked into Friendly Cuts on Forest Hill Road at 12 noon and my daughter had her hair wash, cut, dried and styled at 1pm. First time we have been. She's 12 and loves it and the female stylist (I didn't catch her name) was lovely and really took time to make sure she was happy. -
Tommy visited today on the back of this thread and is brilliant. Explained everything and was so honest about what did and didn’t need to be done. A great find and lovely person!

Evening, We are looking for recommendations of a caterer to do our Year 6 Leavers Party on 28th June which will be from 17:30 - 20:00 - number TBC but likely 100 - 150 - preferably a BBQ / Salad Bar (no drinks required) There are no cooking facilities on site - does anyone have any recommendations or any suggestions of things they've done for similar parties at local schools? Many thanks

Disco party recommendation needed (5 yo party)
gillianthomson replied to BestBeast's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We used The Little Disco Company or DJ Trev (07912207014) and hired our own space - used Watson's General Telegraph back room and also went to one upstairs at the EDT. -
trains this weekend from Peckham
gillianthomson replied to mayo's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
You can take the 63 bus direct to Southwark Tube for the Jubilee line, from the Peckham Rye side of ED. Check Blackfriars Road is open again after waterworks, otherwise E&c and 10 mins walk. I do this regularly and on a Sunday it?s half an hour from the top of Forest Hill Road and easiest / less changes -
Evening All, Can anyone recommend cooking school /lessons for 6/7 year old kids that is relatively local? I?m ideally looking for something more than just a one off or cold only assembly. Many thanks, Gillian

Landscape Gardener Recommendation - Gardenia Gardens
gillianthomson replied to Steve Robson's topic in Reviews
Another recommendation for the fabulous Steve and Helen. Never to early to plan for summer and these guys are very in demand. Really honest, top quality, good value advice and expertise. Can?t praise them highly enough. -
Steve has done various bits and pieces for us in the last month or so and has done a great job, very cheerfully and to a very high standard. Would definitely recommend.

What a total find! Called Aria this morning and he's just left having replaced the whole toilet. Really tidy work, super polite, incredibly fast and efficient. Can't add to the recommendations enough. A great firm. -

Ballet classes for 3 year old?
gillianthomson replied to bluedolphin's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We go to The South London School of Ballet at ED Harris Girls on Saturdays with our three year old. The teacher, Megan, is brilliant - and we have a reluctant dancer, who mostly just loves the outfit. www.thesouthlondonschoolofballet.co.uk -
Anyone know if 'all in one Fridays' is on tomorrow?
gillianthomson replied to MrsC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I got an email from Kim saying it was on and our daughter is going. She's been going since about a year old but only really got into it from 18 months. She's two now and our nanny tells us she absolutely loves it, and the pictures would bear that out -
Formula milk: Melbourne to London flight
gillianthomson replied to Bonfire2010's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Not exactly the same but we went to South Africa with a baby who only took made up SMA which they don't have. Took 70 bottles in luggage (35 litres weight) - each one wrapped in a nappy - and had lots of space to bring back things I'd bought. Lasted whole trip and beyond and I felt very relaxed as not trying anything new. Worth noting, like Oz that nappies, formula etc is about 4x price. I'd advise take with and shop the things you love back in the empty space. -
