Check your settings on the Paybyphone app and make sure that notifications are off (they seem to have started charging for texting you to confirm the parking and again when the parking is almost expired). I think you can select email to confirm the parking (or exit the app and re-enter it to check current bookings as an alternative way to confirm that the parking booking has worked).

Suzanne James is local and amazing for food and catering for events. There's lots of recommendations on here for her too if you look in the tradesperson section. https://suzannejames.co.uk

The Queen & Corgi's are back. Mural ED
Crokes replied to aquamanda's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Brilliant news! Thanks Amanda & Catman -
Bellingham and Beckenham spa soft play have both opened up. You have to book online in advance and both are limiting numbers of attendees for each session. Bellingham sessions are 1 hour and Beckenham spa sessions are an hour and a half.

Laundry bags for scrubs - where to send them?
Crokes replied to Minitoots's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I heard that you can drop off at Really Maria's on Lordship Lane, as it's a collection point for masks/scrubs/washbags etc. They will then be distributed where needed most. -

I agree about speaking to the school. It?s horrible to see them go through this but really positive that she has told you. We?ve found this book useful: ?Bullies, bigmouths & so called friends? by Jenny Alexander. Good luck & hope things improve soon.

Camber Sands or Broadstairs for Day Trip ?
Crokes replied to IvySnail's topic in The Family Room Discussion
No experience of Camber Sands. Broadstairs is lovely as previous posters have said but watch out for the seagulls; not wanting to scare you off but try not to eat on the beach, because they prey on anyone eating/holding food (they?ll take it out of your hand whilst you?re eating!)& are pretty big close up (especially for little ones). -
If you're looking for somewhere really special then afternoon tea at the Cafe Royal (by Piccadilly Circus) or the Mirror Room at the Rosewood Hotel (near Holborn) are both fantastic food and very memorable settings. They are more ??? but are very quiet on a weekday. Booking through opentable.co.uk is easy and good for comparing reviews/prices. Wherever you end up, enjoy!

eBay advice - item stinks of smoke!
Crokes replied to LouLouMoving's topic in The Family Room Discussion
What howl said. eBay has changed recently & it no longer seems to be ?buyer beware?. If you request to return the item, then you will get your money back (the seller cannot refuse a return unless they just refund you/offer you a partial refund). If there are any problems, start an issue through the resolution centre. -
I was very pleased to find Aston through this thread - he fixed a couple of large areas of damp in our kitchen and did a fantastic job. I'd highly recommend him (and use him again) as he was professional, reliable, very knowledgable and reasonably priced. Aston's number is 07490947355.

I followed up on these recommendations for Tom King, he came today to fix a broken dimmer switch, replace an unsafe light switch fixing and check a shaver socket that had been filled with liquid soap(!). He was just as others have described and did a great job, was very professional and efficient.

It's hot. Kids bedtime ideas to cool down?
Crokes replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Even after having a bath I use a small spray bottle and lightly spray the kids skin/nightwear. Might sounds weird but I spray them again whilst they're asleep (if it doesn't disturb them!). Love the cold water bottle idea! -
Is the school uniform shop in Grove Vale still open?
Crokes replied to Carbonara's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The uniform shop closed and the music shop took over the premises. Not sure where you could get your teen shirts. Hope you find some. -
It's so frustrating but hang in there (agree hugely with redjam about trying not to show frustrations, easier said than done though). There's been some academic studies into it which have led to this website being produced to help carers and parents: http://www.childfeedingguide.co.uk/home This website has complied some of the previous links into a handy list too. http://www.srnutrition.co.uk/2015/04/a-parents-guide-to-child-feeding Obviously every child is different, but it can work - I spent a year at a time regularly 'exposing' my son to specific vegetables by putting one on/next to his plate initially (with other food I knew he'd eat) but telling him he didn't have to eat it, making it look extra appealing and slowly getting him to try it by getting him to lick it/bite but not eat it/pop it etc. He now eats a few different veggies without any issues/complaints, some veggies need some encouragement still but I see it as a looooong road with him! Having school dinners seems to have helped, maybe through peer pressure and enjoying independence. Best of luck but try not to worry!

Help needed - 5 yo wee accidents
Crokes replied to Undiscovered's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Agree with previous posters, it may be too soon to be dry at night and was also about to suggest ERIC too. Their website has a section on kids/children and they have a helpline too. If your 5yr old is having accidents later in the day, he/she could be 'holding on' and by later in the day he/she can't hold any more. You're doing brilliantly to try not to be frustrated and yes it's worth seeing what you can do to help (it's a common problem for kids of various ages). Best of luck! -
My son's doctor has made me so cross.
Crokes replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Huge sympathies, it's very frustrating and sounds like you need more information (as Saffron said above). Also, if it IS scarlet fever, please query the length/strength of the course of penicillin you were given, the NHS website states the course should be 10 days for scarlet fever (we had a case of child scarlet fever and were given a 5 day course which even the pharmacist queried the length of. After a call to the GPs a longer course of penicillin was issued). Hope your son feels much better soon.
