  1. I do ED to the Temple - between 25 and 30 minutes. LL, Dog Kennel Hill (fun!), Denmark Hill, Camberwell, Walworth Road, E&C, Blackfriars Bridge. The worst bit is the Walworth Road. Never ending roadworks! Agree with someone up-thread about terrible pot-holes. Really some massive holes in the road on this route. Combine them with oblivious pedestrians, crazy drivers and mad children cycling the wrong way round the E&C roundabout at night without any lights on, and you have the recipe for an interesting journey. I've had one pedestrian collision - Walworth Road. She hit the ground, got up, carried on running for her bus...
  2. Went in there Sunday afternoon, hoping for nice veggie sunday roast. No veggie option apart from "Brie and mushroom wellington" and something else equally unappetising. Anyone know a good place for veggie Sunday roast? The Upland(s) had run out by two o'clock (!)
  3. I popped in there a couple of Thursdays ago, and the quiz "master" was stumbling through his questions... had to repeat one several times before anyone knew what on earth he was on about... something about the international date line, travelling east, from Cuba to somewhere, and what time was it in London or something... we made our excuses and left.
  4. It's been closed for over a year now, hasn't it? Are the residents of "SE5's most desirable road" that bothered? Have they got used to it? Probably life is a lot quieter for them now.
  5. What time does the quiz kick off?
  6. Not done the quiz yet, but we do like the idea. We were thinking of going 25th Oct to give it a try
  7. Thomas, a veggie restaurant on the lines of Mildred, Carnevale or Eat & Two Veg would be very popular if done well. I too am sick of bad veggie burgers, boring risotto, expensive pasta and... worst of all... wait for it... ***** goat's cheese. Just because I'm a veggie doesn't mean I eat nothing but goat's cheese! If I ran a veggie place its motto would be NO GOAT'S CHEESE The veggie options in the Upland are not necessarily "imaginative" but they are rather good. My motto would be Keep it Simple. Veggies seek out places with nice veggie options (plural) and will return to places that do veggie food well. As I say, I think we can live without crazy experimentalism, as long as we get, you know, nice food. Best of luck!
  8. But if we are going to be threatened with fines by Southwark council, surely we have a right to demand proof that all of the stuff we put out to recycle is recycled. Can they prove this?
