I had accupuncture with Dan for my second child, went into labour 11 hours later. It was the most painful and frustrating of my 3 births. Had accupuncture with the lady for my third child, went into labour 11 hours later. It was the easiest birth. She was out 40min after arriving at hospital. You would need a parallel universe to confirm whether or not it works but think it was quite a coincidence that labours both started after 11 hours! The actual birth experience probably has little to do with the session. But who knows....

After a few months there I can say that I would DEFINITELY recommend Forest Hill Nursery to anyone looking for a nursery place. We had a space at 3 nurseries and opted for FH even though we were worried about it being a new nursery. My daughter is soooo happy there and I am happy with them. She has additional medical needs and they have been amazing! She started there just after coming out of hospital and she's been looked after really, really well and more than that she's happy and having fun all day.

Help please - 'wet' knickers on 6 year old girl
Mens replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
my 6 yo daughter is scared of the toilets at school and had had a few accidents. Also she complains that the teachers won't let her use the ones that aren't scary. She hardly drinks during the day now so doesn't have any accidents (not good, I know). I remember being exactly the same at 6 -

Is there any nurseries with spaces out there?
Mens replied to archie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My 1 year old has just started at Forest Hill Nursery on Devonshire Road. I spent a long time deciding between 3 nurseries but am really happy with my choice. The staff are lovely and everything is new as it has just opened. The lunches are great too! -
Peter and Jane books are good for words that need to be recognised (rather than sounded out) such as LIKE and THE. For phonics I like the Dandelion books, you can get them at www.phonicbooks.co.uk My 3 year old taught herself to read so I don't think 3 is too young. She did spend 2 years watching her sister figure it out which helped.

I didn't like it when I looked around it but I went to visit one of my students who was doing work experience there and while I didn't like the building I was very impressed by the staff.

I went there today to make a final decision between three nurseries. They are still in the process of opening up. The lady who runs it is lovely (she doesn't give the hard sell, she's just nice but professional. It's very clean and cosy. They are using the upstairs hall as a garden until the garden is ready. My daughter has medical needs and allergies and they took these very seriously and adapted her meal plan etc and we spoke about a care plan for her. The ladies seem very nurturing and the way they spoke about the new 6 month old baby who will start was really sweet. My daughter is only 1 so I am thinking of this nursery in terms of care for a young child, I don't know about the facilities in the 3 year old room. Would definitely recommend it.

what worked for me was only giving them what they liked when they were going through that stage and if that means weetabix or pasta all day for weeks on end then so be it (with one of mine it was sardines, even for breakfast!). My two have great apetites now. The baby will only eat weetabix and spaghetti bolognese (which is nutritionally okay). She has had nothing but these two things for months.

Oh that's interesting about Oak Tree. It was on my list....

I fed my second child until she was 2 and a half. What I noticed though was that if I went out for the evening she would fall asleep without a feed and then stay asleep until the morning. She seemed to understand that I had gone out even when she was about 15mths old. She was in our bed and even when I came back and laid next to her she didnt stir. I'm going to try the same tactics with this one once this next tooth is through. My sister always says that mums "teach" babies what is normal and I think that we somehow have let them think that breastfeeding to fall asleep when you stir at night is normal.

Going to see Rubadubs but they have quite a long waiting list. I just spoke to Forest Hill Nursery. They only opened today which is why they haven't been answering the phone. Going to see it later...good location as is right next to the station.

chicken pox- will my eldest daughter catch it?
Mens replied to echo's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My eldest had it then middle child had it 2 weeks after first had recovered. Baby got it a week after that. The first had it badly, it was barely noticeable with the second and the baby had it moderately. I guess there are no rules. Best tips I picked up on the net were to use: aveeno bath oil and aqueous cream. -
Antwerp is nice, we used to go there once a month when we lived on the Dutch/Belgian border. I agree tha Brussels is filthy and my experience of the locals leaves me with nothing flattering to say about them. Brussels felt like a mixture between Kings Cross and Picadilly Circus. I don't have any hotel recommendations for Antwerp but there were several hotels dotted about and I found the city safe to park in.

Baby passport - how long will it take in summer?
Mens replied to urchin08's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Last summer I did the 1 week fast track. I got an appointment at Victoria really easily and passport came in less than a week. Doing it by post at this time of year is risky. -
loool, this thread has had me in stitches! I can't stand 'aks' and 'crips', didn't know it bothered anyone else. I was in such a bad mood ten minutes ago (with cranky kids off school and a baby who's turned into a feeding machine)...
