Not had post for a couple of weeks now and getting a bit worried our postal vote won’t arrive in time. What is the recourse for this? Feels very wrong that the poor state of the postal system might prevent us from voting!

We live on the estate on Pytchley Road and it’s great. Generally find it to be very quiet, neighbours all really friendly (know them better than anywhere else we’ve lived). And practically - proximity to stations and amenities is fantastic. Would recommend!

Thoroughly recommend Niko for plumbing/drain issues after he helped us out this weekend with a stubbornly blocked kitchen sink. I texted him on the Saturday morning following a recommendation, and before he accepted the job he tried to help me solve the problem on the phone so he could save me money. Once I had tried the options to no avail he managed to arrive about 20 minutes later. The problem was fixed within an hour. It's been a couple of days now and the sink/pipes are working perfectly, and he gave me lots of helpful recommendations for keeping it clear. I can't recommend him highly enough.

We have also had a small delivery just now (Sunday afternoon), items posted around November 1st - delivery guy not dressed in Royal Mail uniform so wonder if they’ve drafted in additional workers for overtime shifts. Progress at least - looking forward to seeing items from October eventually…

Hope this is the right place to post this - I’ve not seen it yet, but I’m assuming there’s some sort of bird of prey hunting at night around the East Dulwich Estate. I’ve been seeing dead pigeons around the estate for a few weeks, generally first thing in the morning, and had assumed it was a particularly effective fox. But most of the pigeons I’ve seen were largely uneaten. Then, one morning last week, I opened the curtains to find a headless pigeon in our guttering (we live on the 4th/top floor), which dispelled my fox theory! And yesterday there was a set of wings & spine in a different place on the estate - pretty gruesome. Has anyone else noticed an uptick in pigeon deaths in the area or is the culprit in question just particularly fond of ED estate? If anyone has any guesses as to what it might be I’d be curious to know too!

Something not mentioned yet - this year I’ve personally seen an increase in the use of individual fireworks being aimed at people and set off in the streets during the daytime. This is both around East Dulwich but also further afield, eg in busy areas of Waterloo. I’m open to fireworks at organised events, but not sure why private sales are so essential when they're so easily misused…

I’ve always found them good personally but not experienced the same problem with the system - but, for example, went in for a routine check up last week where I mentioned various issues my dog was having and the vet consistently recommended non-practice solutions (eg had the Pets At Home website up for a product and told me I could get it there, recommended home dental treatments before considering a practice dental treatment). Was pretty happy, so can only hope it’s an occasional issue or I guess maybe dependent on the vet you see. Grateful to know there have been issues though so I’ll check any charges v thoroughly in future!

Just made a callout to Paul based on the recommendations in this thread and he was brilliant. Got to us within an hour or two of calling for a leaky pipe which he fixed straight away, was thorough and gave us some good advice too for maintaining the pipework. Very pleased and highly recommend.

Another recommendation for Dave - found him on this forum as we were looking for someone to fix a problem with our toilet. Found him really helpful and friendly, he made sure I understood what the issue was and how it?d be fixed which as a new homeowner & this being my first call out to a plumber I was very grateful for. Really pleased, will definitely use him again.
