Hi guys My 2.5 year old had a bad cold last wk which is nearly gone but we are left with a lingering cough that really disturbs her at night - coughing fits that wake her up several times a night which usually result in me sleeping in with her... She had this a lot last winter too though I assumed that was mostly based on starting new at nursery and catching lots of new germs... My question is, has anyone found a cough medicine that works? There's conflicting advice online with quite a few people advising not to give small kids cough medicine at all? And if not medecine, what else? Do those vaporisers work? Already putting Vicks on her chest and soles of feet, keeping her warm etc Be interested if anyone has aagic solution :)

Putting baby down sleepy but awake - how?
pilsbury replied to EmilyPie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi all - I just wanted to say thank you for the swaddling advice, it seems to have worked wonders with little one, who is now napping pretty happily during the day, amen to that. Monniemae, ditto to what everyone said above, your Hv is unbelievable! Don't draw any conclusions at that young age - best piece of advice anyone ever gave me was that everything with babies is just a stage, and that's so true. I guarantee you that in a few months or even weeks time you'll look back on these early days and wonder, why was I stressed about that, now I'm stressed about x,y,z instead :) in case it helps, something which I've also found has settled my previously rather fractious and unhappy little boy (alongside swaddling) has been a trip to lizzie the osteopath at dulwich therapy rooms and switching the formula feeds he has from normal to goats milk formula (easier to digest). Xx -
Thanks all for the advice - my daughter had a play date there today and seemed to have lots of fun so I think we will take the place (tho yes I agree it grates about the waiting list issues) I'm massively nervous about moving her from her current place (feels like the biggest decision ive made in her life so far!) but she's only been there nine months and is a very confident little lady so hopefully the settling in wont be too tough.

Putting baby down sleepy but awake - how?

I tried swaddling when he was younger but found even then he was too strong and found his way out of it... A Velcro swaddle sounds good tho, can you recall where you got it from? -

I found the advice on this post really useful, so hopefully noone will mind if I hijack it a little to ask my own related question... My 11 wk old is getting really good at going to sleep (sometimes with my help, sometimes on his own), but during the day he always wakes up with a start 5-10 minutes later and is v difficult to calm down again. Consequently I spend the whole hour or so when I'd like him to be napping just trying to get him back to sleep. Any advice on this wise mothers? It doesn't seem to be a problem if he's in the pram or car, and at night he is fine too... I would be overjoyed if he started sleeping through overnight in the not too distant future, but I currently think his lack of decent naps during the day are stopping him from doing so.... -
Hi all Hoping to take a week's break (in broadest sense of the word, lol) in the canaries next month with a 2.5 yr old and 12 wk old. Have previously been to roca Nivaria in Tenerife but fancy somewhere different. Happy with self catering or hotel, needs to have heated pool as am not sure it'll be warm enough otherwise at that time of year... Any recommendations v gratefully received! Thanks

Hi all After a very long time on the waiting list we've now been offered a place... Does anyone have any thoughts they'd care to share on this nursery (by pm if you'd prefer). Taking the slot would mean taking our little one out of their current nursery (which they love, but lj is much closer to home and cheaper) so Id really appreciate advice as this is an important decision for us Thanks!

Thanks all for the tip offs, even the secret ones :) ill be sure to try then out - this weekend we went to beckenham spa but ended up swimming instead which was great! We've only just got a car so its great to now be able to explore a little further afield :)

I'm looking for a good soft play that is a short bus or car journey away -any recommendations? I used to take my toddler to Peckham pulse, but its not always the cleanest plus I think she might have outgrown it a little now...

Osteopathy to help with latching on post tongue tie
pilsbury replied to pilsbury's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks so much for the supportive messages and advice, I'll give Lizzie a call today and hopefully we can get in to see her soon x -
Hi all My little boy, seven weeks, was diagnosed with tongue tie last week and had the snip on Monday. I can already see a massive difference in the mobility of his tongue, he can stick it out nicely now, however I'm not yet seeing any difference with feeding and am having a lot of pain in my right nipple. He just doesn't seem t be able to open his mouth nice and widely to latch on properly, which I guess may be related to not being able to earlier because of the tongue tie. It's been suggested that I take him for osteopathy to see if they can work out any tension that may be stopping him from opening his mouth widely. Has anyone had a similar site in and tried osteopathy? Any recommendations on where to go? Any advice would be great as I really would like to keep feeding but the pain is pret unbearable... Thanks!

LUCY!!!! Happy belated birthday!!! I'm so very glad that this was a genuine and very very sweet thing that you did, and hopefully we can quash some of that suspicious, curmudgeonly spirit out there (and that includes my other half!) If I see you in and around Ondine I'll be sure to thank you in person :)
-
How funny. I didn't think anything suspect of it at all, just took the note for its word, but seems like I'm the only one - and when I told my other half, he said don't you dare eat it, you're nine months pregnant!! Do you all live on Ondine like me perchance? (Peckhampam I knw you do, because you did your own raok several years back, giving away strawb plants, which are doing just swimmingly this year, so thanks again!). I really hope that Lucy makes an appearance so we can hear her story!

Try simply airports.co.uk I've always found them good value and reliable

Ach, what a pain, sorry to hear about this As I live just behind Goose Green, would you mind saying how your shed was/wasn't locked, so I can make sure ours is secure enough?
-
I can see info about the kids club at the ritzy on their site, but is there something similar at Peckham plex or are people just taking their kids to the regular showings?
-
yes i'd heard that too....
