  1. For the last wk or two my 1 yr old has been unsettled sleep-wise and then I noticed on Monday that his molars are coming in so out it down to that. However now for the last 24 hours he's been running a fever of 39ish - medecine is bringing it down but only for a few hours then it shoots back up. Do you think this is also the teething? Having searched online peoples opinions are v mixed as to whether teething causes high temp, I *think* my daughter had a fever too when she teethed but can't remember exactly!
  2. Looking to buy one for my son's first birthday - we have a few happyland things already but they don't seem to make a happyland garage anymore, so I was wondering if any has any other reccs, preferably one which does take happyland figures?
  3. Thanks for the suggestions! Saffron all your thoughts got my mind whirring and I've ended up getting him a vintage style wall-mounted cast iron bottle opener thing from ebay (I was thinking he could put it out by the BBQ in the garden), thanks again! And yes sugar is the other one, but I just bought him a load of chocolate for Father's Day, so I think we have enough naughty stuff in the house for the time being! X
  4. Am at a total loss of what to get oh for our 6th wedding anniversary, the traditional theme is iron... I thought about le creuset cast iron stuff but we don't really need anything... I thought about something related to sources of iron (red meat, pulses, dried fruit etc) but can't think of anything.... I looked for cast iron gifts on google but nothing there really took my fancy either! Any other ideas guys?
  5. Scrap that I've just found the card! For the benefit of those searching the forum and finding this thread in the future, they are: Mon, tue, thus fri 8-1 Weds 8-8 Sat 8-2
  6. Does anyone know these? Looked all overt 'internet but can't find them and my 'something for you' card has gone walkies....
  7. Dare I ask.... Is there anywhere else locally that you'd recommend for a car wash?
  8. We are there on Tuesday and it was really yummy!

  10. With a toddler and a baby (driving there over nap time then waiting around before we check into our v basic airport hotel!). Looked online and got the following short list, any thoughts or other reccs?: Goffs park Mini mayhem soft play Buchan park Treasure chest soft play Tilgate park
  11. Paspic.com is quick and easy
  12. Be there to talk to them when they are ready, keep reminding them you are there Don't avoid the subject Send a meaningful card Offer to help with funeral arrangements or set up collection fund Suggest bereavement counselling, check out sands as mentioned above Don't relate it to other deaths or tell them they'll get over it when another baby comes along Don't forget the anniversary My best friend lost one of her twins at nine months last year, it was devastating but with the help of close family, good friends a bit of counselling she is doing really well now.
  13. Thank everyone, really helpful :)
  14. Hi all I've got a very itchy toddler on my hands, I've just been using calomine lotion so far but are there any other things people would recommend? Main obviously is to stop the itching, but also to get the spots healed ASAP as we are supposed to be going on holiday a week tomorrow! Cheers
  15. Hi guys My little son was v unsettled for the first 10 weeks of his life and on the recommendation of a health specialist I moved his one formula feed a day to goats milk formula (nanny care). Around the same time he was also snipped for tongue tie and has since changed to a lovely happy little boy (ie I'm not sure if it was the tongue tie or the goats milk formula which made the difference). Fast forward to now and he's nearly seven months old and getting on really well with weaning and is now on three meals per day and eaten a variety of foods (fruit, veg, fish, meat), some of which have included milk and cheese. He still has two formula feeds a day (1 after lunchtime nap and 1 before bedtime) which I've kept as goats milk formula and I breastfeed him first thing in the morning. In an ideal world I'd like to move his formula back to regular formula, mainly for convenience (as nanny care don't make pre-made cartons which can be so handy for holidays, days out etc). Has anyone else gone through a similar experience and/or can advise me if this would be okay? Obviously if I switched him back to aptamil and he suddenly had an upset tummy or was really grouchy again then I'd go straight back to nanny care.... I'm just wondering if he's now grown out of his dairy intolerance esp as he's having cheese and milk in some of his meals now.. Sorry, long post, let me know what you think!
  16. Thx for the tips guys, I actually found some animal onesies on half price at primark , so got both kids for ?6 - bargain!
  17. Aside from just Williams and primark, can anyone think of somewhere locally that might sell animal fancy dress costumes for a 6 month old and a 2.5 yr old? Alternaitely, does anyone have one to sell or an easy idea of how I could cobble one together? X
  18. You can take a "baby in arms" in a black cab or addy lee - we used this way to get our son home from hospital... Call up addy lee and they will advise you :)
  19. My beloved uppababy vista is broken :( I was taking it out this morning, luckily was only halfway up the road when I heard a loud click and realised that the back right wheel has completely sheared off the main chassis, making it completely unusable. I have two small children (2.5year old and 6month old) & I\'m in a bit of a panic as to how ill cope without it! Does anyone know anywhere that does pram repairs please??
  20. Meant to post this yesterday to say thank you for the info - we had such a lovely time at the service and it was so lovely to see the full community in swing :)
  21. I thought this might be a nice thing to take my 2.5 year old to tomorrow, though note we are not religious :) Does anyone know details / been before? I know it's at 4, but how long is it? Can you take babies too? Does it include carols? Is it ok for non religious types? Thanks!
  22. Thanks for the extra tips... I think the cause of so much coughing at night is just all the mucus running down her throat... The vaporiser seems to make a bit of a difference though and I think I'll try the cot propping thing for my littlest who has now come down with it! Thanks again!
  23. Yes I'd read those articles or similar before, hence why I was wondering if it was worth it... I've bought the Vicks vaporiser to see if that helps - do you put normal Vicks in it or something else? Have tried the Vicks on feet thing, though forgot the socks so that might make a difference! And I have a calpol plug in, but found it fairly useless (I too loved the karvol one, but has been discontinued..) Thanks v much for all the advice!
