Thanks Mima - I like Moo as you can print lots of different designs for the same price. They do work out at around £1 per card, though which is fairly high unless I bump ip my own prices…

Advice please - sold item to a business who's now contesting the sale
Naiada replied to Naiada's topic in The Lounge
Thanks for your helpful replies, Vladi & Spartacus. Reassuring to hear your comments - I agree they are trying the intimidation route. In reply to your questions, Spartacus - I was only ever a freelance designer/ sole trader so never needed to register with companies house. Have been retired & on state pension & below the tax threshold for several years. This has certainly taught me to get absolutely everything in writing if I ever make a private sale again! -

It does on their Facebook page…. -
Perhaps if you had gone & had a chat with them rather than jumping to the wrong prejudicial conclusions (ie your phrase “a lot of police around possibly unconnected- “) you’d have discovered that they are selling a magazine called ‘Inside Success’ raising funds to combat knife crime and to help London’s disadvantaged youth. They are always enthusiastic, polite & friendly. Next time you see them, I hope you’ll buy a magazine.

I’m a designer looking to get some new designs printed on greetings cards at a reasonable price. Has anyone had small runs printed? I’ll probably need about 50 cards altogether, ideally several designs but can be flexible. I’ve found & compared a few places already but would like to look at a few more alternatives, thanks.

thanks for your helpful PM with feedback, Angelina. So far the update is, going to do an affidavit or a Statutory Declaration signed by a solicitor regarding the fact that the machines were working when they picked them up and email that to them together with an offer of a full refund if they wish to return everything. My instinct is they are trying to call my bluff to get a discount as I know they were very keen to get hold of this particular machine which they then planned to refurb. It would still be helpful to have more advice / feedback if anyone else would like to reply. -
Can anyone help / offer advice, please? I just sold a fairly rare and quite valuable vintage knitting machine and accessories to a business as a private sale to a business. It's run a couple who specialise in repairing and reselling secondhand knitting machine parts. I tested the machine and accessory prior to selling and both were working. The business has just texted me with a fairly aggressive message to say 'it can't be working as part of it is missing' and that the pattern reading accessory does not work. I know that both parts were working when I handed them over, so it is just their word against mine. (I haven't replied to ask what part is missing yet) When they arrived to pick up, the owner said he needed to do 'due diligence' ie to open the case of the machine and check it was all there. He did all that and did not mention anything was missing at that point. They paid by bank transfer on pickup. Unfortunately for me, I got them to pay into my business ac (even though I no longer run a business and am retired, I still have the account) and now they say because they paid to a business ac they can dispute the payment. I did get them to sign a delivery note with a list of items that they were buying but I did not specify 'bought as seen' on the note. How does it work when it's one person's word against another? I originally found the business online and emailed them with the details and photos. They had good reviews for selling items (but no reviews re: buying items) The owner always replied by phone rather than email so although I have notes of our conversations I do not have anything in writing from him. I'm feeling angry at having trusted them and also upset - textile design was my career before I retired and I wish I'd just given the machine to a charity now1 Any helpful advice much appreciated!

Swapping catsitting - any cat owners interested?
Naiada posted a topic in The Family Room Discussion
Are there any cat owners in East Dulwich interested in swapping occasional catsitting visits? The friend I used to swap with no longer has a cat so I'm looking for someone else with a cat who may need a catsitter who is happy to stay a while with the cat (I'm happy to do that). Our indoor cat is 20 (!) but still lively with a lot of personality and she loves company. I can send more details to anyone who may be interested. We live near Northcross Road SE22 so it would be great to find other cat owners very near by if possible. I can give you more details about me as well as our cat if anyone is interested, just send me a PM ... -

My partner is trying to identify this font as he wants to use it (or a very similar style) on a gravestone. I've tried lots of the online 'font identifiers' but no luck so thought maybe someone on here eg a graphic designer might be able to identify it for us. I've included the original photo of the font we like and also a couple of pics where I 'did a Kate' and edited the background out etc.

How about the view of the EDT from over the road with that palm tree in the middle of the roundabout?

I finally got to see a real life GP (after calling 111 & being referred to the Tessa Jowell centre as my own practice didn’t respond) When I told the GP who my current practice is and all the problems I’ve had, they didn’t seem surprised & suggested I swap to Tessa Jowell but before I do, I wanted to see if anyone would a) recommend Tessa Jowell b) recommend another practice? I realise all practices are under great pressure so are all going to be less than perfect but they can’t be worse than my current one which shall remain nameless! Thanks for any positive / negative reviews on any local surgeries.

Hi Jellybeanz Thanks for your reply. I'll pass on the details to him. Good idea about anti inflammatory foods etc. At the moment he is in too much pain to do any exercises - it's a bit of a vicious circle....

My son has a very bad back at the moment. He's waiting to see a consultant but his appointment is not for another 6 weeks. He's in terrible pain and can hardly walk and has to keep taking time off work when it flares up. He's seeing a good osteopath (and feels a bit better immediately after the session, then it's bad again) . He has also seen a physio but is in such pain he can't do the exercises at the moment. He's not sure what causes it but is very tall so the osteo thought that may have some bearing on his problems. I just wondered if anyone can recommend any different type of specialist he could try? thanks for any advice and please send a PM if so.

I tripped & fell back in April & suffered a mild anterior wedge fracture of vertebra T6 (ie the vertebra in the centre of my spine between my shoulders. Has anyone else had a somilar injury, & if so did you use a back brace? I’m still waiting for an outpatient appt at Kings after several GP cock-ups (referring me to wrong departments etc) & am worries that a) it’s not getting any bettee & b) that I don’t know what I ahould / should not be doing to help it. It feels like I’ve been punched in the back whenever I bend down a bit & then the muscles in my shoulder go into spasm - ouch! Any advice greatly appreciated thanks.

Every night from 8pm - 8.30 we see several big flocks of parakeets flying right over our flat on Archdale road SE22 - we think they come from Peckham rye park but wonder where they head to each evening - maybe Dulwich Park? It’s always at exactly the same time so would love to know where they end up ! Does anyone living near Peckham rye park or Dulwich park see them too?

Thanks - have tried them but will keep checking back.

Storeage unit needed for house move - any recommendations?
Naiada replied to Naiada's topic in The Lounge
thanks Pugwash I'll check out prices. I've also been told about a good value place in Belvedere near Woolwich called Thames Self Storeage and saw one yesterday near Swanley called 'Green Box' which looks good, if anyone else is also looking. -
I'm looking for an affordable studio space to paint and store my paintings and materials - happy to it by public transport if it works out cheaper than something in East Dulwich.... Any suggestions welcome!

Can anyone recommend a relatively cheap storeage unit company (doesn't have to be that close to SE22)? We want to clear our attic etc and put all the stuff in storeage for a few months. thanks (I wasn't sure which section to post this under???)

I highly recommend Adam Brown - who has worked wonders for my old mac many times. He's very fairly priced, too. He usually sorts my computer and website issues out remotely but is based locally if you prefer an in person visit. Tel 07808 740328 adam@homeitconsultant.com
