  2. thanks Guys. I took it to Devon St. All good
  3. Does anybody know if i can take an old fridge to the rubbish dump off Crofted rd?( i live in Southwark)
  4. yes I was surprised as to how much the parked cars now stick out
  5. If you agree with the original post, please write to southwark and start to persuade them to change, to include motorbikes. If we get enough people we may have some luck.
  6. My 50cc scooter is fine on the flat. It's just Dog Kennel Hill that I have a problem with.
  7. Hi James If you see my original post. It is me who has trouble getting up to 20 mph going up that hill on my old 50cc scooter. It is me faced with a choise of being overtaken by cars that brush past me or to hold up the traffic. I too would like a safe journey up that hill!!
  8. Having received a PCN for the bus lane (which was rescinded) I would like to lobby to allow motorbikes into that bus lane on Dog Kennel Hill . I have included my letter to Southwark below and wondered if there was anybody who felt the same. Dear Southwark Council I recently wrote to you to appeal a Bus Lane PCN on grounds of mitigating circumstances. Details below. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Dear Southwark parking I am writing to appeal my bus lane penalty under mitigating circumstances. I have a 14-year-old 50cc scooter and can barely get up to 20 mph while traveling up Dog Kennel Hill. When travelling up the hill in the car lane, cars pass dangerously close to me. Or I can block the traffic and have cars clambering to get passed (sometimes honking to get passed) As you can see by your photo I have gained no advantage by moving out of the car lane and have only done so because of the above reasons. I have over 40 years riding experience and hoped to have made a judgement on safety and not to try to use the bus lane unlawfully. I hope that on this occasion you will be able to weaver this PNC _________________________________________________________________________________________ Well I am now writing to you to ask if you would consider including Motorcycles in the bus lane users on grounds of safety. Without having the ability to seek respite in the bus lane I will be left on this road, which is dangerous to small lightweight motorcycles. There is a unique situation on the hill, which not only has an extreme gradient but a walled flowerbed that stops cars from moving over to overtake and means that they are forced to squeeze past. (Which they often do) The road is dangerous especially, maintaining stability without cars rushing past and potentially unbalancing you. The council must accept responsibility for this dangerous situation. By allowing motorbikes into the bus lane you will solve this potentially fatal situation without making any difference to the flow of traffic in the bus lane. Yours Hopefully

  10. got my letter too. Praise the lord. I was expecting more PCN's for all the other times that I had been up it !!!
  11. does the council have to warn you with a camera sign, if they have just put up the camera?
  12. thanks for your support peckham_ryu i have appealed but will let you know how I get on.
  13. I have just got a PCN with a picture of me on my scooter at the top of Dog Kennel Hill. My 50 cc 14 year old moped has trouble getting up to 20mph so i often move into the bus lane to avoid cars passing very close or cars building up behind me. I am now worried that i will have more PNCs to come at ?65 each!!!

  15. How about taking the pad out of the ground. Buses still get to the bottom of the road using the bus lane. If you put a give way line across the car lane, allowing the buses right of way. problem solved!!
  16. i too went to the Isle of Sheppy, great memories!
  17. there is a sign outside the house, but i would prefer not to post it
  18. There is a builder (Active East) in a house in Tarbert road. Who has been swearing at the top of his voice over the last two weeks or so. But what's worse it is directed at his builders. With " You are one f***ing idiot, one Romanian idiot" "you f***ing idiot" repeatedly directed at these poor guys. Has anybody had any dealings with this company?
  19. We should be proud to fly our flag. Let's take it back from the people that use it for the wrong reasons!
  20. I'm back on ok at the moment, but it came on yesterday morning too and then went off again. Virgin says 6pm this evening to restore.
  21. Mine's down. I phoned at 2pm and they said it would be back at 6pm. Phoned again at 8pm and was told 9pm eventually it has just come back about 11pm. I asked for compensation and was given ?10. This doesn't make up for the pain that my children went through not having the internet all day!!!! I mean what else can they do with their lives???
  22. It would be great if Southwark actually saw it as something that was a real asset and made it a priority, instead of some of it's other more mundane projects!
  23. they insist that you use the internet now
  24. the bike across the road from me was stolen. It had a cover!!
