  1. I still had water at 8:30...in any case, shouldn't we have been given some sort of warning?
  2. Thames Water website site says something about a leak on lordship lane, not far from crystal palace road junction. Might this be the one you spotted PipD? It also says they take an average of 4 days to repairs leaks...
  3. I didn't get any sort of warning letter or anything about this....not done using water for the night just yet!!
  4. As of about half hour ago...nothing coming through the taps...did I miss a notice of some kind?? On Goodrich Road.
  5. I flew to Canada in June from Heathrow, had 4 cartons of premade milk with me in carry on luggage, 1 bottle with cool boiled water. They didn't say anything about the cartons of milk, but did ask me to taste the water, which wasn't a problem. the current rules allow you take what you need for the baby as long as it is a reasonable amount for the journney. Didn't have any problems, but I would check with your airline and follow their recommendations.
  6. RIBS....real easy and truely the ultimate bbq feast item...check out recipe attached....I use half the amount of salt it calls for though, too salty otherwise. Your bbq guests will forever be at your mercy!!
  7. I am having the EXACT EXACT same issue as OP with my 5 month old. I have recently started implementing controlled crying (my version) ie I do not rock or swing or anything him to sleep. He goes into his cot after bath, bottle, book and will usually sleep til 3 or 4 am at which point he has a bottle and goes back to sleep until 6:30 or 7am. His naps however are an entirely different thing. I cannot get him to nap more than 35 mins. It's happened I htink maybe 10 times since he was born. Even as a newborn he hardly slept. I've tried darkening the room (I can't get it completely dark though), I've tried the going in a few minutes before he wakes to resettle him, I've tried putting him down at varying stages of his looking tired phases, all kinds of things. Here is what his typical napping in a day will look like: 6:30 or 7am wakes up and has bottle 8:30 ish I put him down for nap, he cries, I resettle, he cries I resettle and so on...eventually falls asleep 9:00 play or hang out with mummy wherever she is 10 or 10:30 am has bottle 11:00 ish I put him down for nap, he cries, I resettle, he cries I resettle and so on...eventually falls asleep and this is where it all goes wrong: after a half hour he will wake and I cannot get him to sleep any longer. The rest of the day is just him wanting to sleep/play/feed whatever all at the same time because he is actually very tired but will not sleep. Sling doesn't work with him nor does a walk in a pram (anymore). To be honest I want to stay away from the wrong sleep associations and get to a point where he sleeps in his cot when he needs to for the length of time he really needs. After this he may/may not have a nap at 2pm ish and if he does, again he may/may not have a 4th nap around 4-5pm. This all decides when bath, bedtime will be because if he's been up for 4 hours straight I have to get him into bed earlier and if he has too late a nap I have to put him to bed later...this can range anywhere from 6:30pm to 8pm which really is not working for anybody. I don't know what to do anymore...aside from him not getting proper sleep, I basically get zero time in a day to do anything else. At 5 months I'm desperate to achieve something in a day besides a few nappy changes and a bath, if you know what I mean! Suggestions and comments most welcome!
  8. There is definitely something going wrong with royal mail parcel delieveries. I waited weeks for 2 items ordered from Amazon that were meant to be delivered via royal mail the next day. Eventually I demanded a refund for the items so I could re-order them elsewhere. The re-ordered items arrived via courier as scheduled. Funnily enough, one of the original items eventually turned up, the other has disappeared, which is strange because they were part of the same order!!
  9. Does anyone know how the buses are doing this morning? The 40, 185 or 176 or the 12?
  10. mrs f - stay home...even if you manage to find a safe way to get to work, there's no guarantee you will be able to get home easily tonight. Don't risk it. I'm pregnant too and have opted to stay home rather than risking the possiblility of gettting stuck walking miles, slipping ang falling or getting stuck waiting ages in the cold for buses trains. Stay home with your little bean and stay warm and cozy!

It was the same lot, I remember the yankees hat as well. Very, very offensive. RosieH, I get what you mean about public pavements, but believe me, you don't want these morons anywhere near your front door.
  12. Hmmm..interesting, I was walking down Goodrich on my way to the little shop on Crystal Palace yesterday afternoon and ran into some 'youths' (I think it was 3 of them though) who blurted out quite a few inappropriate comments about my physique. I ignored them completely as if they were not even there and they had a few more things to say, one of them something along the lines of 'who does she think she is' and things I can't repeat on here. I wonder if it was the same lot.
  13. I heard that too, although I'm much farther away from Ulverscroft. Cylons.
  14. I live very close to it and I'm sorry but I don't like it. I agree with a previous post that it could possibly encourage others to do the same around the neighbourhood. Makes me feel like I live in the hood. Not every area in every city needs to be marked with expressionist crap. Encourage breast-feeding...please...
  15. ED is definitely missing a decent Japanese...a sushi place would mint it here IMO.
