If surgeries were paid by the number of patients seen and not by the number registered on their books then soon there will be plenty of appointments available. A surgery at the moment is paid the same amount by the nhs whether they make ten appointments or a hundred appointments.

I remember when I used to boil a litre of milk, it would boil over within five minutes or so. Nowadays, it barely comes to a gentle simmer after ten minutes and never boils over. I don?t know why. though.

Accessing GP appointments - Link for feedback
Hoi Polloi replied to Cora's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Nowadays GPs are paid based on the number of patients on their books rather than being paid on the number of patients they see and treat. Hence, they don?t bother working full time because it does not effect their income. Whether a GP works two hours or twelve hours, there is no one checking on them. They get paid the same whether they make ten appointments or fifty appointments to see the patients. GP surgeries have become a racket. -

Hello councillors, Increasingly I am noticing utility companies fencing off several meters of one side of a road hindering free flow of traffic. These fenced off roads are used as storage yard for materials and equipment for several months. I have to pay a license fee if I were to keep a skip outside my house which is no bigger than a small car and causes no obstruction. I would like to know the amount of fees charged by the council to use part of the road as storage yard by these companies and why are they allowing roads to be used as storage yards? -

Once again Underhill Road is dug up at the junction with Upland Road and traffic blocked. I havent seen anybody working there for the past two weeks. When is this road going to open? -
GP surgeries are private enterprises paid for by the NHS. Surgery owners are paid a full salary assuming they work full time. I think there is no one to check on them whether they work three hours or twelve hours a day. Why would they bother working for ten hours if they can get away with working just three hours?

Can anyone suggest a good GP practice?
Hoi Polloi replied to Nushi's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Avoid Forest Hill Road practice. There is supposed to be nine doctors working there according to their website but you can never get an appointment to see them. The waiting room is always empty whenever I go to collect my prescription. I would love to find out how many hours these doctors work. -
A while ago I had to have a blood test in hospital. A nurse put the gloves on, opened the drawer to get her paraphernalia out, laid them on the table, then went out of the room, using her gloved hands to push the handle. Came back ten minutes later and proceeded with the blood test without changing the gloves. I had no idea what she could have been touching when she was out.

Pointless if Chinese manufactured kits are used that are not accurate. -

There are ten MPs who are doctors. I wonder how many will volunteer in NHS while the parliament is shut? -
Which GP Surgery to register with please?
Hoi Polloi replied to beansprout's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Every time I ask to see a doctor, they say they have no appointments. Whenever I go to collect my prescription there is no one in the waiting room to see a doctor. The doctors seems to work a couple of hours a day and claim full time pay. Forest Hill road Group practice is a scam. It is just a front to milk the NHS.
