  1. Pete and Chalky! We’ve kept in touch with them. Fear not, they moved to live near his daughter (I’d have to check his address but I think it was Lincolnshire). Chalky apparently very happy as he has a large cat-free garden to play in.
  2. Hello all, We're looking for a kind and caring nanny for our son, who will be 10 months, on Wednesdays and Thursdays (probably 8am- 6pm) from September - flexible on start date for the right person. We're based in East Dulwich and also have another boy who is nearly 3. He is full time at nursery, so the role would likely include picking him up from Little Jungle on Amott Road at around 5ish. References and experience of babies from previous nannying. We'd also love someone who was open to doing the occasional bedtime and babysitting. We previously did a share so happy to discuss that with any other local families. DM me if this might be of interest. Many thanks, Bex
  3. It used to be in a more easily identifiable section, no? Or did I imagine that? Thank you!
  4. We used Iva from Sleepy Little Angels. She came highly recommended and was absolutely brilliant. I couldn?t handle any of the hardcore method. We did an adapted Ferber method starting at 2 mins, 2 mins, 4 mins, 4 mins etc. Also did it at 9 months because I had no way to put him back to sleep when he woke at night without breastfeeding, which he didn?t need as he was on 3 meals a day. It took 2 nights and he cried less in total across those two nights than he did the night I made the sleep training decision (after I tried to cuddle him and calm him back to sleep but not feed him). She very much tailors the method to whatever you?re comfortable with. We will definitely use her again with our second baby. One thing I would strongly recommend is not to use any of the remote consultation services. From our experience you need someone in the house with you, holding your hand and guiding you through it when it?s 3am. The remote arrives cost about ?250 for a telephone call. I think we paid ?650 for two nights of having Iva stay with us and guide us through exactly what to do and when to go in etc.
  5. Scarletbanks is right on the money with their list but Kartuli on Lordship Lane is incredible. Also Heritage in West Dulwich is a new fave
  6. Wow!! I can?t get the video to play but even without it that must have been an incredible watch. I had no idea there were any around here.
  7. Did anyone come back to you with any information on this? I?d be very interested to know what the issues were as we?re on the waiting list for a place.
  8. You don?t happen to live on Whateley Road, do you? We?ve noticed a very barky dog lately. It?s going very loudly now at 11pm and the owners don?t seem to be bringing it in despite the constant howling and barking. Between the dog and the man who screams all nights at his cats Zippy and Angel, it?s a very noisy set of gardens!
  9. A long shot I know but if anyone finds a pair of apple AirPods Pro on Peckham Rye park, Barry Road, Tyrell Road, Hindmans or Whateley Road please do get in touch. They say Rebecca?s Airpods. Lost when my baby was having a total meltdown so would be so grateful to have them returned. Thank you!
  10. We had lunch from there today and it was delicious! Cheese bread and mixed starters - bloody hell so flavoursome. Will definitely go back for dinner takeaway. The couple running it were so friendly too.
  11. Yes, I'm getting constant call failed and finding it really difficult to make outgoing calls. Was previously on Vodaphone and that was no better, sadly.
  12. Hi there, Thanks so much for posting this! I?m around any day this week and can pop over to collect it. Best wishes Rebecca
  13. Thank you Sunshine_Sunshine, EastdulwichNewbie and B&G. This is really helpful to know. Especially good about the Uppababy Cruz as it tops Which's list of best buggys out there.
  14. One letter in a single day but magazine subscriptions are almost a week late
  15. Thank you both for replying! very much appreciated. I'll have a look at both options
  16. Hello all, We're having our first baby at the beginning of October and I wondered if anyone had particularly loved (or hated) their buggy? I've looked on Which and all the review sites but there's such an overwhelming number of different brands, it really makes it impossible to try and narrow down any list of ones to go and try out. We have a car seat from a friend, so not after a full travel system (not sure that matters as it all seems to be optional extras), it will be taken on walks outside of London so something relatively durable is the aim but we do have one of those annoyingly narrow East Dulwich door frames! Any advice or strong feelings either way would be very much appreciated. The friends I've asked so far have liked the Mountain Buggy and the Bugaboo Bee. Thanks so much! Bex
  17. I've heard positive about both so had the same decision a few months ago (now 27 weeks) and decided to go with St Thomas' over Kings for a couple of reasons: - The Care Quality Commission's current ratings have St Thomas' maternity in much better shape https://www.cqc.org.uk/location/RJ122 https://www.cqc.org.uk/location/RJZ01 - King's don't have the option to pay a bit of money for a private room and as they had an outbreak of bedbugs in the postnatal ward last summer, this kind of put me off. St Thomas' do have a couple of rooms for non-private patients but they're obviously subject to availability. The unit at St Thomas' have been great so far. They've cut down the number of appointments because of COVID and my partner hasn't been allowed to come into scans (which is a shame) but otherwise fantastic so far. There's never a queue, you're never kept waiting and my dedicated team respond to questions via email incredibly quickly. Best of luck with it all!
  18. Does he also have two cats that he shouts obscenities or sweet nothings at day and night?
  19. They don?t currently deliver to SE22 so we?ve dropped them a line to see if they might consider expanding. Might be worth others who are interested doing the same so they can get a sense of local demand. On a separate note, we?ve found the bread from Mons is often a bit on the burnt/bitter side. Plus I think it?s ?5 per loaf and smaller than Brick House?s.
