Surely? so what do you suggest they do, get over it or sit quaking behind a locked door. crime happens its a fact and by living in a city one is more likely to be exposed to it than if one resided in the scottish highlands, the reality is that the chances of becoming a victim of crime are not particluarly high, whereas the fear of becoming a victim of crime is out of proportion to that reality.
  3. in the loop, very funny, however my cinema choice of the week has to be "let the right one in", very atmospheric vampire film, in that the main protagonists are kids, an unusual but extremely good film, but only watch if you can stand subtitles. dvd of the week which i watched last night is "the baader-meinhof complex", cracking film which one would think in the arms of a guy ritchie et al would attempt to glamourise the group and their actions, this film doesn,t, it makes them out to be the terrorists they were, all be it, they sure do look good. worth a watch.
  4. i think you missing another D mr macg. ADD, kind of sums up what the gov have been up to this past few years.

  6. i work as a csi (soco for the old school), and am employed by the plod and involved with them on a daily basis from minor to major issues, and its all good to point fingers etc, but you really don,t know how good a deal you get. not every crime or misdemeanour gets solved, but thats the way of the world, eg not everyone who goes into hospital comes out either. they do a very difficult job under very trying circumstances and perhaps a little bit of appreciation for their and my and the other thousands who make up the force and go a long long way to make our streets safer would be nice.

  8. norn irons favourite past-time, rioting. i got picked out from a crowd photo like many others, unlike some of the others although i was placed at the scene, there was no actual photo of me chucking anything, so it was words of advice to the parents and believe it or not it did the trick.

  13. 10 bottle of bucky, 6 tins of harp and round the park. happy days.
  14. as keef asks what exactly is the justice they are after, is it to have someone held accountable and locked up, its that going to solve any issues, is it going to make anyone feel happier. are there financial motives. it perhaps time to remember those that died, but move on what happened, happened and should never be forgotten, but perhaps the biggest tribute and sign of justice for those who died, is that at least in this country it will never happen again, the recommdations of the taylor report have seen to that. i find it all comparable to the bloody sunday enquiry, both tragic events but there has to come a time when you have to move on.

  16. don,t get me started on organic onions, bloody rip-off, as is most organic stuff. but i agree with bob, as i pointed out in my original post, somebodys been mugged, big deal. obviously its a big deal to them, and i speak from experience but you get over it, learn from the experience and move on. we live in a big city, muggings happen, its a part of the deal with living in the smoke, and while its not acceptable, i would suggest that most people accept that it happens but hope not to them or their kin.
  17. i thought it was just about ok. i had high hopes as it was set in my hometown, but i was kind of disappointed as i know the place and knowing that the hill st area where he was shot has been rebuilt and neeson then sitting in a cafe in mourneview, then walking to kilwilkie and then finding himself in hill st again where the fight scene took place, was just not possible took the shine off it for me. yes it was a piece of fiction based on real events but it would have been properly served without the fight scene at the end, and instead a piece of dialogue between neeson and jimbob, to reflect the way peace and reconciliation has actually come to norn iron. the whole thing was made all the more disappointing when i found out it was made by the same bloke who made the excellent downfall.

Still my favourite > GAA game. good game, but seamus darby against kerry has to be a stand out, however for sheer comebacks, armagh 4 points down against kerry in 2002 at half time having just missed a pen to bring them back into the game, and then trailing by 5 points for the early stages of the second half only to come through and win by one and hold kerry scoreless for the last 20 mins of the game in to the bargain, now thats a come back.
  19. so someones been mugged big deal. we live in an area bordered by 2 of the most notorious areas in the country- brixton and peckham, and while dulwich is generally a safe area, it is more likely seen as a soft touch by those up to no good. i have every sympathy for the op having been a victim myself twice, but the main thing to take away from the whole episode is yup property has been lost, pride damaged and confidence shook, but you got home in one piece and that is the main thing.
  20. greta scacci, always floats me boat.
  21. the guardian, observer, and the irish post, wouldn,t lower myself to anything else, unless i,ve ran out of bog roll.
  22. i,m sitting at work bored stiff, nothing going on, so its take the bleep and phone and off home for the rugger, when no doubt it will all kick off, work wise that is.

  24. my old nano has finally given up the ghost and i need a new pod, and am looking very closely at the touch, has anybody got one, and are they any good, ie sound quality, wifi connection, games etc. iphone is out of the question as i,ve recently signed up or a new contract with t-mobile. your views pse.
  25. bugger there,s a breeze blowin again. saying that 3 late goals for bolton, will give the pool a bit of hope, and there is the chance that the chelsea-pool 2 nd leg, could be one of the greatest games ever.
