Hi Brendan This advice is if some investment in your house is an option. We recently renewed the whole roof, and we added 15cm of insulation boards to the roof, above the rafters so no gaps. At the same time we fitted triple glazed windows and doors to the whole back of the house. It makes a huge difference, these planes also fly over us, but inside the house I rarely hear them at all.

Scooter stolen outside M&S near East Dulwich Station today at around 16:20h. My son parked his scooter near the bike rack outside M&S today and it got stolen. It is an adult sized, white scooter, pictured here a few years back. Let me know if you see it in the area. I can't remember what brand it is, but it is not micro.

Quoting the ones that said that "traffic has been down 12%" that is a lie, the traffic may have been down during covid lockdowns, but it has more than doubled on some roads because of this stupid displacement.

PCN for driving in Dulwich village, help please!
cacaolat replied to renarde's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I just got my appeal allowed for driving through the restriction in Townley Road. My main argument was that the sign is not directly next to the lane, but there is a cycling lane inbetween , which is separated by bollards. The information below should be useful to anyone who also got a ticket and wants to appeal. Just be patient. The council will refuse the appeal, as they always do, but there is the independent adjudicator. Here is what the adjudicator said: However, although the one sign that is at the location is that prescribed by Diagram 953 at Item 33 in Part 2 of Schedule 3 to the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016, being a permitted variant thereof, as indicating 'route for use by buses, pedal cycles and taxis', it is the only sign and is not immediately adjacent to the lane in which the vehicle is seen to travel, but rather it is on a fenced island with a cycle lane in between. There is no other Diagram 953 sign at this point of the road. -

I hope the police can identify these horrible people. Hate crime should never be overlooked. -

It is a basic democratic right of free thinking people, who you would call Guardianistas, to fight the fascist ideology of brexiteers and do something against it. After all Brexit was brought to us by lies and deception. Can someone ban Brexiteers from trying to stop the democtratic right of setting up petitions.

Beckenham gym staff members abusive behavior to Gambado customers
cacaolat replied to cacaolat's topic in The Lounge
I had a response from the gym manager. He says the person on the picture does not work for the gym. I reality the guy was in charge of the gym yesterday, he went in and out, was receiving people at the reception there and he also had access to their kind of boiler room. and should I ever have to prove this (only if I have to) then there were plenty of witnesses, not to his first rage but to shout I am a sad man. (sad because there are people like him). -

Hi TheCat, I am an experienced driver, but l only saw one faint arrow when I left. When I arrived at 9.45am these must have been hidden by frost. Just because the entrance to the premises are one way, with no visible arrows it does not mean the whole parking space is. In fact I add 2 pictures taken from Google earth, it is not an obvious one way at all. -

I just did complain in writing. Going into the gym would have meant more confrontation with a rude bully. -

Today I was looking for a parking space at Gambado Beckenham. The space in front of the venue was full so I turned around to get a space in the other part of the car park. Someone violently hit on my car roof several times. I opened the door and a man was shouting, wether I don't see that this is a one way. I said "no I don't see that and he should not hit my car again". Whilst I proceeded to the parking space the man shouted "Idiot" at me and followed us until I parked. He then called me Idiot again, and he started taking photos of my car including me, my 2 children and their friend. He then shouted that my car will be removed from this car park. I told him that he should stop shouting abuse at me in front of my children. My children who are 7 and 4 were crying and were very scared. Only later I saw that there was a small blue sign on the wall (no bigger than a A4 sheet of paper) which indicates a one way street, but there was no red one way warning sign. Whilst the children were at the party at Gambado I went to check the car and again the man came out of Beckenham Gym were he works and shouted "You are a sad man your car is now already banned from the premises". I did take a photo of him after that, although from a distance. All this abuse because in a car park, which I visited for the first time I did not spot the tiny sign and did not listen to a bully. The image shows the inadequate sign on the left and the abusive bully in the centre. Beckenham Gym parking space bully , get a life and never scare my children again.

Hi I did not have it done, but I buy a lot of acrylic. I found Hindleys.co.uk to be one of the cheapest suppliers and they have good quality brands, like perspex. However do not use acrylic behind the cooker, where you should use a heat resistant material. Have the splashbacks measured out exactly and create a computer file, which also shows all the holes for sockets. Then have it laser cut.

Working Mummy this is exactly how I feel, from another European / British family, the arguments of those leave voters on this forum are just sadly ridiculous. They have no idea of the benefits the EU really brought to this country, like workers rights, human rights etc. And really the EU membership fee was paid back many times by increased prosperity. And I dare to even mention even the euro has not done so badly as it is always made out. The pound was 1.45 euros in 2002-2004 but recently it was around 1.25, so over the last 15 years the euro has still done better than the pound.

What's opening on East Dulwich Road/new restaurant?
cacaolat replied to beautyscoop's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I completely agree. Ice cream vans sell rubbish ice cream. (I spent my first 25 years in Italy) There do not seem to be many small start up companys selling "home" made ice cream from vans. I have been told that the "you want a flake on this" style vans would drive them out from every park straight away. Not sure if it is true -

We have used our bugaboo bee since our daughters birth last April. We are really happy with it, although it has a little fault which I have reported yesterday to bugaboo, so lets see how well the customer service will do. (so far no reply) Otherwise it is lovely, agile, cute and I wonder why I would need one of those very big ones. We also took it onto 2 flights which was no problem. We have not really used it yet the other way round (baby facing world) but I believe it will fold a bit smaller. It is expensive but also I would buy again. (if the little fault is sorted quickly)

Egged at the Elephant: Warning to Cyclists
cacaolat replied to jimbo1964's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
My wife used to follow the cycling route through Walworth for her commute. A few years ago she was stopped by hooded youths and they mugged her bike including attached bag with belongings phone etc. This happened on Portland Street at about 7pm. The police drove around with her and did a drive by identification but they did not get them. -
