I use the app to find and book local donation sessions. It can be quite far in advance to book a local one but it's not a big problem. I've never had to wait too long either but I've only done it 5 times so far. There is a permanent donation centre in Soho I think.

Freelance Q re switching from self-employed to umbrella
Asset replied to Robert Poste's Child's topic in The Lounge
I think I would use the date of the new contract personally, that way there are no unexplained gaps. -
another shout for butterscotch angel delight here! Tried some quite recently and it was vile. My mum always bought a pack of Mr Kipling cakes when she did her weekly shop - usually fondant fancies. Ate them really slowly to make them last. I still really like Mr Kipling cherry bakewells (minus the glace cherry) and almond slices. Didn't really eat much processed savoury food that I can remember.

Yep, prob a stag beetle as others have said - I've got them flying around at dusk, since Friday. They only last a few weeks, are rare (apart from south east), harmless and a fabulous sight. I had a friend over on Friday who lives in north London and he said he'd never seen one before.

Who's been using the forum for ten years or more?
Asset replied to Robert Poste's Child's topic in The Lounge
Just passed my 11th year. It used to make me expel my coffee through my nostrils regularly, not so much now. -
I noticed some on Saturday (also near the hospital) but haven't seen any since. Maybe they were the advance party and have gone further north?

They are protected along with all UK birds - license to cull only granted in circumstances where they pose a serious threat, which they don't, yet.

local eateries that take dogs? recommendations?

Romeo Jones in the Village allows dogs -
Just an aside - Fareshares has been going a lot longer than since 1998. I lived on the Pullen's estate (where it is located) for many years and it started around 1987, I think it got properly organised around 1998.

Young, black, unneutered, male cat - is he yours
Asset replied to Asset's topic in Lost, Found or Stolen
Thought I'd add an update. I've been looking after him for the last week, I put posters up around the area and 170+ people have viewed this post. No one has come forward so he's booked in to be neutered on Monday and looks like I'm keeping him, much to the distaste of my current cat (and my other half). -
Has appeared on our street in last 24 hours. Desperate to get into the houses, affectionate, noisy. Estimated under a year old, short haired, totally black, golden eyes. I'm guessing a dumped kitten and if no one comes forward I'll contact Celia Hammond Trust but thought I'd try here first. My neighbour is looking after him temporarily. Edited to add location: Glengarry/Tarbert/Trossachs/Thornecombe/Hillsboro

Phone the council noise department. Let them speak to the owners.

I swim at Jags - pool is very nice. I usually go early evening between 5pm & 7pm and often only 2 or 3 other people in the lane, as mentioned above there is only one lane at that time and it is hit and miss whether the other swimmers are slow or fast but generally the lane moves well, also the general swim is often quiet so the other part of the pool is available. Only once or twice in 2 years of swimming have I got out because it was too busy. I've been at most times, later evening has been busy or quiet you can never tell, early morning was the busiest I've ever seen it and I wouldn't go again. Swimming aids are allowed. In school holidays lane swimming is available throughout most days. I don't use the gym but gather it's fairly good, also some classes are included in cost of membership. There was a swimming club called Tigersharks at Alleyn's, google to see if still there but only a few hours a week.

I've flown with Ryanair lots and never had any issues, flights on time and the departure and arrival slots are much better than Easyjet's which are often at god awful hours of the morning. However, I've just booked a Ryanair flight and a few days later received an email stating they no longer allow a cabin bag apart from a small handbag/laptop size. I've had to buy 'priority boarding' which then allows a cabin bag (I rarely travel with hold size luggage and hate waiting for the bags) which has added ?24 to the cost of the tickets. Not a major sum I know but it's the little add-ons they make you buy that end up making the overall cost not so cheap as it seems.

Nigel Farage is a Useful Idiot in re. Russia and he should be careful for when his 'use' runs out.
-
How did he 'make good'? uncleglen I'm not sure 'Mr Farage' and 'truth' should be used in the same sentence actually.

Personally, if D Whitely wants to spend his time (and I'm sure it didn't take up too much) ripping the piss out of that self-serving toad for our amusement, then he can go right ahead.

You can connect your laptop to the TV easily but in my experience the picture quality is not great and the user interface is not as good. The Firestick has the added benefit of being portable so if you're travelling, staying in hotels, or with people who have no Netflix or Prime on their TV (the horror :-0) bingo, plug and play! I don't mean to sound like an Amazon advert but I have to say I am enjoying the thing and the monthly price of the two subscriptions (Netflix & Amazon) is not far off the cost of the cost of one cinema ticket (Peckham Plex excepted). I did have Sky movies until recently but got rid of that as the films are crap generally and it's Murdoch.
-
Yep, I've had a smart TV for a few years (Samsung) and the 'apps'; iplayer, Amazon Prime etc just stopped working on it. After trying to get them working various ways I won't bore you with, I've ended up buying an Amazon Firestick which has iplayer, Netflix and all the TV catch up things on it. You need a Prime account to have the selection of 'free' films and TV shows and personally I think it's worth it, I also think the picture seems better through the Firestick - not sure if that's my imagination or not. So I agree, get a good quality screen with an HDMI connection and get a Firestick, keep your Prime account and lose yourself in TV consumption :-) I just binge-watched Peaky Blinders

Disposing of paint? Would anyone collect it?

Disposing of paint? Would anyone collect it?
Asset replied to DulwichLondoner's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
from a quick internet search I think it depends on the type of paint what you need to do with it. Emulsion is ok to put in bin if dry, latex is recyclable and oil-based needs to be disposed of as hazardous waste. -

Dog attack in Belair Park, 06/12/17 at 1.00pm
Asset replied to hdecruz's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes, Not sure I agree with putting posters up of the photo as has been suggested on the other thread, but how many short blond women walk around the area with 2 white staffies? The picture does look to me like the woman I see though, who now wears a dark blue, padded jacket, is about 5' - 5'2", has shoulder length wavy blond hair, is in her late fifties I would guess and walks 2 white staffies regularly around the area and fits the description of the woman in this Belair incident.
