  1. I would have thought a brace of pheasants would be easy pickings for the foxes. Especially if traversing along the railways.
  2. I would have said something to them if I had witnessed that
  3. Thanks! Wonder how they got there...
  4. I've heard rumour of the pheasant too. Yet to see it though.
  5. OK, don't forget about posters and leaflets in all the local nurseries and children's play areas, parent fora etc etc. so the parents can prepare and make sure their children aren't disturbed. How far radius should be covered? I suggest 2 miles from the display, also I think prevailing winds should be taken into account and perhaps the range of leafleting should be extended by a mile or two in that direction. Maybe some full page adverts in the local press too.
  6. "they could post on the forum" I supposes then at least the people who go on the forum to moan about fireworks would know - but what about the thousands of residents within the 2 mile radius that don't?
  7. Oh my god - turn the TV up for 10 minutes so the dog can't hear them - or should we all not get to enjoy fireworks anymore because a few dogs might get upset. And I'm speaking as someone who has cats and a dog. The OP was in with the dog, else how did they know the poor dog was so terrified?, I'm sure 10 minutes of loud TV would have cured the problem. Jeez - no one died. Anyway - so is anyone going to suggest any practical way an organisation can mitigate the irritation and very temporary inconvenience some people clearly suffer or are you just going to moan on here?
  8. I would imagine it was advertised somewhere. How far should they be leafleting? It's just impractical to expect an organisation to leaflet every house within a - say 2 mile - radius. It was 10 minutes of fireworks at 10pmish on a Saturday night - I really think people just love to complain about things. And if you must - there are far worse things we could be complaining about. Stop being so Grinchy. Some people live in war-zones where there are load explosions going on at all hours - that might actually kill them.
  9. Seems to me it's a first world problem really.
  10. I'm just wondering, if you had advanced warning, how you would prepare the dog for this?
  11. I utterly detest speaking to Virgin Media. I was told when I phoned today, they had ?an application issue? and couldn?t test my equipment so phone back in 3-4 hours... Funny how they?ve had a different story for everyone that phoned today. Wish I could change provider but have no BT line so trapped with them I think. 😡
  12. Hah, seems to be fixed here.
  13. Fix now 8.35pm... Expect that to change 🙄
  14. Fix estimate is 6.35pm at the moment.
  15. I didn?t say they weren?t affected - I said they survived. One of the cats ran in the house a bit scared. Diddums. I stroked him. He felt better.
  16. I have a dog and two cats (I know...) They all survived.
  17. Definitely Alleyns. Had a fantastic view from my garden and it framed the almost full moon beautifully. As someone said, 10 minutes at 10pm on a Friday night is not worth getting worked up about. Fireworks are allowed until 11pm I think.
  18. I don't think Ken's is expensive at all! under a tenner for a portion of cod and chips that in my experience easily feeds 2 people and sometimes 3 if you're not super hungry. The pieces of cod he serves up are enormous.
  19. I never see any! jealous. Close to Trossachs and Alleyn's too. Going to build a bat box.
  20. I suspect, as there are no cameras on that stretch, the picture was taken by a bus and the car had entered the bus lane before the hatched section of the white line. I see cars going up that stretch of bus lane all the time.
  21. He'd probably have been supporting the other side if he'd been president then...
  22. https://www.ons.gov.uk/businessindustryandtrade/retailindustry/timeseries/j4mc/drsi online sales still only 20% of retail total so the argument that high streets are dying because of online shopping doesn't wash really.
  23. It's not a very 'united kingdom' at the moment...
  24. LL has: a butchers, fishmongers, cheese emporium (2), small supermarkets, Hardware stores, plant shop, greengrocers (several), shoe shops, clothes shops, haberdashery (!), plus restaurants, cafes, bars blah blah blah - what other 'useful' shops do we need...?
