  1. Ok - may give them a try, already wasted ?8 on LL
  2. I read The Contortionists Handbook recently - liked it. Reading Bob Dylan Chronicles - bit random and all over the place - not really into it but never been a huge fan of his (cue tirade probably)
  3. Is that a booth or does someone do it?
  4. I know this is a bit of a cr*p thread, BUT does anyone know where there is a decent passport photo booth in the vicinity. The one at Sainsbury's is not there at the mo'. I went to the place on LL where a guy takes a snap with a digicam but I have to say the photo's are unusable! The lighting is horrendously unflattering, I'm not beng overly vain as my son - who I think is gorgeous - also came out looking completely weird. Anyway if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

    Religion.....

"Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit of a spiritless situation. It is the opium of the people." Karl Marx
  9. try online backgammon - it's brill
  10. check this out My party piece used to be getting into the lotus position whilst sanding on my head (oo er). Haven't tried it for a while - not been to those sort of parties - so not sure if still can!
  11. Art is there to provoke reactions - surely a piece of art whoever's choice it is, is better than a scrap of crappy grass with no interest. I like the bollards too.
  12. I believe Anthony Gormley has his studio somewhere round here - hence that choice I would think.
  13. I think katie tatie may mean the small path that goes round the perimeter of the park with tree roots and muddy bits etc. Did it on bikes with a computer recently and it measured about 1.5 miles round if memory serves me.
  14. *comes in needing a bit of quiet time and a stiff drink* *all getting a bit frantic out there* *pops open bolly* *wonders what Citizen is scribbling in pad*
  15. Yes, after a fashion - and I admit saying that snorky was not bothered by it was presumptious (not sure about crass and arrogant) and I apologise for that but I was feeling a bit hot under the collar at the time. My issue is whether or not we should be allowed to feel the pain for the family and not be told we are being weak and indulging in mass hysteria.
  16. Not entirely sure what you mean by that comment. Are you insinuating perhaps that we are not intelligent and rational people because we are affected by this story? Are you implying that because you are not bothered by it everyone who is is somehow an inferior, weaker and gullible human being? Actually the media are starting to question their coverage of this so don't worry it will all be forgotten about soon and that family can get on with the rest of their lives never knowing what happened to their daughter.
  17. punctuality is the courtesy of kings
  18. Yes you had - this is an issue that has got to the hearts of people, parents or otherwise and is invoking strong reactions. I have not been manipulated by the media in my sadness about this bacause frankly I find it too upsetting and am avoiding reading anything about it. I know the argument about bad things happening all over the world etc and "shit happens" but this incident is unspeakably awful. Lots of people did have candlelit vigils for the dead of 9/11 and if people want to do things like that to help them deal with a situation then I think they should be allowed to without derision from anyone else. If we want to discuss the situation on this forum to help us deal with it then too bad - you don't have to read the thread or get involved.
  19. Where is the shop going to be? Do you know yet?
  20. Gawd, I only ever listen to R4 - I love those medieval music shows.
  21. Thinks - funny MP can see Lord's. I can see the sea
  22. sorry MP - never bother following the links
  23. Don't get me wrong, the "however" was in no way meant to excuse any one from not doing as much as they can to minimise their carbon footprint. Personally, I bet I outgreen all of you!! (could be a new thread in the offing) It was merely to point out the irony in the shots in the film - but then the Americans apparently don't get irony.
  24. Very interesting film on this subject called "Inconvenient Truth" which is following Al Gore (failed US presidential candidate) who is passionate about the subject and does talks all over the world. It is well worth watching and is pretty frightening stuff. HOWEVER: lots of shots of him looking wistfully out of aeroplane windows as he goes from place to place giving the lectures!
