  2. you are repeating yourself Tom!
  3. Environmental health Dept. I would have thought
  4. There are recycling facilites fairly widely available - if your paper is stacking up you could always pop it out to one yourself maybe. I must be lucky - I've still got the original blue bag I was given a few years ago!
  5. An update - I'm sure you will all be thrilled to learn that Sainsbury's have in fact planted some trees now at the edge of the car park leading up to the entrance.
  6. You can opt out of receiving junk mail if you go to mail preferencing. I did it last year and it has massively reduced the amount of junk I get through the post. I also went for the phone preferencing which stops the unwanted double glazing sellers calling at 8pm. I recommend it. I think Southwark actually do a great job with recycling and the guys that collect from me have no objections to my plastic and cans being in a blue bag and not in the blue box (usually no room in there as filled with wine bottles).

  12. Ooooh you are inflammatory TT
  13. Just a thought - there used to be several trees and shrubs in the car park at Sainsbury's before the revamp and when I was there the other day (yes I know, should be pottering up and down LL's local shops with my hessian bag slung on the HUGE buggy) I noticed that they have all gone and there looks to be absolutely no provision for replacing them or putting in any planting at all. It's not on really. What can we do, anyone had a close look at the plans?
  14. It's not just london though is it? I thought events were going to be taking place in other parts of the country too
  15. I'm in
  16. why are you being so scathing about this piano? Surely any piano is better than none if you want to learn to play and not everyone can afford to start with a Steinway, you gotta start somewhere. With ebay you never can tell, some things go for under value and some things go for more than they are worth. If I had room for it I would bid up to around ?80, mug I may be.
  17. Well I've had a couple of glasses of this white - it benefited from being cold I would say, my first glass was not cold enough. It was a bit too cloying for my personal tastes. I like whites that are very crisp and this was a bit too fruity. I agree that we drink reds too cold. Room temperature for red wines normally means around 17 degrees, much cooler than our average room temp and there are some reds that definitely need chilling to around 12/15 degrees, particularly those from the Loire region. This white is not one that I could drink too much of (no bad thing probably). Roll on next weeks tasting!
  18. Dulwich dad has posted on here recently, can't remember which thread
  19. Well I got the wine but felt mildly embarrassed at owning up to why so couldn't ask for discount as well and none was offered, obviously DM's charms work better than mine! I did mention letting the LL branch know what's happening and Will said he would phone them tomorrow, so if anyone else is joining in try there too. Are we going to synchronise or just get on with it?
  20. I'll ask Will to ring the LL branch and suggest they get involved when I go later today, if he's there
  21. In re. packaging, I have heard that some punters in Germany are removing unnecessary packaging at the checkout and leaving it in the store. I think that is fantastic and have been tempted to do that myself - shall we start a forum unnecessary packaging demo at ED Sainsbury's?
  22. Wow! well done DM. I will go there later and pick one up from him. (have to lock it away so I don't drink it before Sunday!) Hope others have luck getting it.
  23. Personally I prefer light reds all year round but chilled somewhat in the summer - feel pickled if I drink too much white, however am happy to have a glass or two for the tasting. I can move on to the red after!
  24. *do we still have owls?*
